Chapter 61 The Fiancée's Resentment (The End)

Time flies, and after a year of travel, Shi Lan returned to the Shi family villa to find, to her surprise, that everything around the house, except for some fallen leaves, remained exactly as it had been before she left.

I opened the door, and the room was cold and quiet.

A gentle breeze slipped in through the crack in the door, and the dust in the room tumbled and danced in the air as if welcoming its owner back.

Shi Lan dragged her suitcase back to her bedroom, took a refreshing shower, and stretched her muscles that had been curled up for hours. But before she could finish unpacking, the doorbell rang downstairs.

Shi Lan hurriedly put on a bathrobe, went to the window, peeked out, and Xiuya's brows immediately furrowed.

At the door, a dejected Si Yue paced anxiously for a few moments. Seeing no response from inside, he raised his hand and rang the doorbell.

Shi Lan glared at Si Yue with disgust, knowing that he must know she was back, which was why he kept ringing the doorbell so confidently.

Shi Lan slowly and methodically tidied herself up, ignoring the hoarse, almost lifeless doorbell ringing downstairs. A few minutes later, she leisurely opened the door.

"Did you need something?" Shi Lan left the door ajar, her tall figure blocking the entrance.

Si Yue moved his feet, wanting to come in but unable to find a way in, so he could only stand there. "Lanlan, can I come in? I have something to tell you."

Shi Lan frowned, a little impatiently, "Say what you have to say right here."

Si Yue's face turned slightly red from being choked by Shi Lan, but when he saw Shi Lan's rosy complexion and dark eyes, he nervously clenched his hands.

"It's like this, the company has been having some cash flow problems lately. Didn't you sell your shares before? Do you think you could lend me that money to tide me over?"

After speaking, Si Yue looked up at Shi Lan nervously, his slumped shoulders unconsciously tensing up.

Shi Lan almost laughed at his words.

How naive! After how they treated her, she still dared to dream of getting that money back. Even if she gave it to them, would she ever get it back?

"No," Shi Lan said coldly, suppressing the urge to slap him, and raised her hand to close the door.

Si Yue reached out to stop her, his handsome, fair face filled with anxiety. "Lanlan, you can't just stand by and watch her die. The Si family business is your father's life's work. You can't just watch it be destroyed."

Shi Lan gripped the doorknob tightly, her expression cold. "The Si family will not be destroyed. Rather than letting people like you control the Si family, it would be better to replace you with someone else."

Si Yue stepped forward, intending to grab Shi Lan, but Shi Lan nimbly dodged him.

Si Yue moved his fingers that were grasping at empty air, and said somewhat dejectedly, "Lanlan, I know I was wrong back then, but I just wanted to ignore you for a few days. I didn't expect such comments to come out." He took a breath and saw that Shi Lan's expression was still very cold, so he could only say, "I admit that I shouldn't have let Father push everything onto you back then, but you saw it yourself. It was all over the internet, and Si's stock price fell for several days. Father had no choice but to do that."

Shi Lan curled her lips into a mocking smile. "So you just pushed me out there. What does this have to do with me? If you hadn't been so indecisive, would Cheng Yueyao have had the chance to cling to you? If you hadn't given her hope, would she have caused all this trouble?"

Shi Lan spoke softly, but her expression was indifferent.

Si Yue, who was always proud, had his handsome face made extremely ugly by Shi Lan's words. He wanted to leave, but then he remembered the high-pressure pressure from the shareholders, his father's anxiety leading to illness and his mother's sighs and tears. His heart clenched.

"Lanlan, Cheng Yueyao has committed suicide. Xu Kai can only make a living by selling his body in nightclubs every day, and we are also in financial crisis. Do you think this punishment is not enough?"

Si Yue sighed and continued, "We grew up together. You know how I've treated you over the past twenty years. You can't deny everything I've done just because of this one thing. You know how I feel about you. It was my fault for being soft-hearted about Cheng Yueyao. But you shouldn't have so impulsively broken off the engagement and even sold the shares to the Ning family. Ning Zeyuan has ulterior motives and has always been eyeing the Si family. Father was only making that statement because he was angry."

Hearing his gentle voice and his silver tongue, Shi Lan felt nothing but a cold laugh.

Even now, they're still finding fault with her. The shares are hers; she can sell them to whomever she wants. What right do they have to be angry?

In the end, all he wanted was her shares, and now he's trying to empty her pockets. Unfortunately for him, she won't give him a single penny.

"What happened before is in the past. What does it matter who was right and who was wrong? I don't want to get involved in your affairs. Please don't bother me again in the future," Shi Lan said, and then she was about to close the door.

Si Yue finally had a moment of quick thinking and stuck his foot out to block the door.

Shi Lan frowned angrily, wondering if she should take him down.

A cold and arrogant male voice suddenly came from behind the bushes, interrupting her actions, "Mr. Si's behavior is not the manners a man should have."

As they spoke, the man parted the bushes and slowly emerged.

When Si Yue saw the person who came, he immediately thought of the embarrassing situation the Si family had been forced into by him, and his expression changed immediately. "Ning Zeyuan, what are you doing here?"

Ning Zeyuan glanced at him disdainfully, ignored him, and extended his hand directly to Shi Lan, "Long time no see, Miss Shi."

Shi Lan glanced at Si Yue, who was filled with shame and anger, and smiled. She gently squeezed his hand. "It's been a long time, President Ning."

Ning Zeyuan felt the long-lost smoothness, and his heart skipped a beat.

Shi Lan withdrew her finger. The man's eyes were too dark, which made her nervously tidy her hair.
