She returned to the space three years after returning to the villa. In those three years, Ning Zeyuan proposed to her twice: once on a summer night shortly after her return, and the other time when she was critically ill.
Thinking of how he forced a smile to make her happy while suppressing his grief, Shi Lan's eyes welled up with tears. She thought she would shed tears, but when she touched them, she found they were dry.
“Souls do not have tears,” a clear, cold voice came from the mist, and a tall, slender figure slowly walked over.
Shi Lan took a breath, trying her best to control her emotions, and a smile appeared on her elegant and beautiful face. "Lord Haoze."
Haoze frowned slightly, his beautifully shaped lips pursed. "Call me Haoze."
His voice remained cold, but for some reason, Shi Lan knew he was a little unhappy.
She looked at Haoze blankly, not understanding what she had done to offend him.
Haoze sighed silently, knowing that those who have reincarnated would not remember their past lives, and that her distant treatment of him was not her fault, but his heart still ached unbearably.
The millions of years they spent together, will they now only remain in his memory alone?
"Why are you sad? Is it because of Si Yue?" Haoze asked softly, looking at her reddened eyes.
Shi Lan frowned and shook her head, not wanting to go into too much detail, and only vaguely said, "No."
Haoze nodded without asking any further questions. Seeing that she was in low spirits, he considerately conjured up a chaise lounge and said, "Go and rest for a while to recharge."
Shi Lan nodded, slumped in the chair, and soon fell asleep.
Hearing her long, deep breaths, Haoze casually gestured, and a slender figure in a suit slowly appeared.
“So that’s how it is,” he said, looking at Shi Lan who was sleeping soundly in the chair. He suddenly realized something and chuckled softly. “No wonder I felt like her the moment I saw her and wanted to protect her.”
He turned to look at Haoze and sighed, "So we were one." As he spoke, his figure became more and more transparent, and finally turned into a point of light and entered Haoze's body.
Haoze sat on the ground with his eyes slightly closed, leaning against the chaise lounge, recalling every moment Ning Zeyuan spent with Shi Lan, especially the scene of Ning Zeyuan kneeling on one knee and proposing to her in the last moment of her life, and her sobbing with emotion. His handsome features softened considerably. He turned his head and gazed at the sleeping Shi Lan, and finally he leaned down and awkwardly and gently placed a kiss on her forehead.
Shi Lan was immersed in a sweet dream, her body enveloped in warm, gentle water, making her reluctant to wake up.
Suddenly, a loud bang rang in her ears, startling Shi Lan. She quickly opened her eyes, but a wave of dizziness made her see stars, and she couldn't see where she was at all.
"You slut, how dare you go and complain? You want a man that badly?" A man roughly pulled her over, and Shi Lan was dragged up involuntarily. The next second, she was thrown backward.
Shi Lan was startled and frantically tried to grab something, but it was pitch black and she could only passively endure it. After a moment, she felt something soft beneath her.
She reached out and touched it; it was incredibly smooth, and she guessed it must be a bed.
Shi Lan closed her eyes, then opened them again. The darkness slowly receded, revealing a patch of red. A man in a dark blue uniform was unbuttoning his collar and said impatiently, "Stop pretending to be so proper. If you want to share a room with me, come and serve me. Don't just stand there like a block of wood."
A surge of immense resentment welled up in Shi Lan's chest; the bone-chilling hatred made her want to reach out and strangle him immediately.
Shi Lan quickly gripped the soft, silky quilt, pursing her lips to suppress the rising murderous intent.
Seeing that she was curled up in bed and not moving, the man paused in his hand as he was pulling open her clothes, and his face showed increasing annoyance.
Shi Lan glanced around the spacious room and, seeing that there was no one else there, took a deep breath. With the idea that discretion is the better part of valor, she slowly got off the bed, went to the man's side, and took the clothes he had taken off.
While hanging up clothes, she quickly glanced around the room, which was covered with bright red "double happiness" characters. A girl with braids looked at her anxiously at the door. Shi Lan smiled slightly, nodded to her, and turned to walk back.
Seeing her meek and submissive demeanor, the man snorted arrogantly, plopped down on the canopy bed, leaned to one side, and stretched out his leg, saying, "Take off my boots."
Shi Lan frowned, resisting the urge to tear him apart, and took off the leather boots.
Seeing her unwilling expression, the man chuckled smugly and maliciously moved his foot, which exuded a strange aura, closer to her.
Shi Lan tilted her head and took two steps back, her disgust almost tangible.
Seeing her like this, the man snorted coldly, quickly took off his clothes, and tried to pull Shi Lan away.
Shi Lan was no pushover. With a wave of her hand, the man immediately slumped back onto the bed like a puppet without its strings.
Shi Lan glanced subconsciously at the door that the maid had already closed, then kicked the man inside a little with annoyance. She found a chair, sat down, and accepted the surging memories.
The Shi family of Yuncheng is a family with a history of hundreds of years. Throughout the generations, the family has produced many talented people who have found their place in business or government, thus contributing to the glory of the Shi family.
By the time of the original owner's generation, the world had changed. The imperial court was on the verge of collapse, warlords were rising up, and conflicts were breaking out in various places. The Shi family had always been known only for its talent and learning. No matter what each member of the family did after growing up, they were all well-read in their childhood. However, they were also all physically weak. In this world where power was determined by force, the Shi family was like a trembling cub. In the eyes of these warlords who were like jackals, their considerable wealth was like a piece of fat meat, tempting them to eat.
