Chapter 79 Love in the Tomb (Part 6)

Judging from the murals and carvings, this tomb is ancient, and the size of the stone coffin suggests that the tomb's occupant must have been a person of high status.

Based on the two coffins, Shi Lan deduced that there were specific rules for burial in ancient times, and only royalty or high-ranking officials could be buried in such a manner.

only……

Shi Lan stared at the water patterns carved on it, the flames rising from the water, and the several hideous human heads hidden among them, and was secretly surprised.

Generally, such coffins are mostly carved with flowers or symbolic patterns, but this coffin is carved with such patterns, which is puzzling and also makes people wary.

Shi Lan looked around, quietly took half a step back, and subconsciously leaned her body towards the door.

With a smile, Huang Wanrou took two steps to the side, easily blocking her escape route.

Shi Lan stared at Huang Wanrou for a moment, said nothing, and then turned to examine the tomb chamber.

The tomb chamber was very large, and the carvings on the three walls were completely different from what she had seen before. Shi Lan stared at them closely and found that they were actually fierce-looking yakshas holding iron chains and vicious demons fighting each other. There were even several shriveled human figures painted on one wall.

Is it a zombie or a mummy?

Seeing such murals, it would be a lie to say you weren't afraid.

But at this moment, Huang Wanrou's relentless pressure made her feel even more uneasy.

Fortunately, everyone's attention was focused on the coffin at the moment, and they didn't pay any attention to her, which gave her time to observe the terrain.

Huang Wanrou seemed to sense her intention, took two steps forward, and gently tapped Shi Lan's shoulder with her fair fingers. "Don't be afraid. What I want is in that coffin. Just do as I say and bring it to me. Not only will I not want the money, but I will also give you more money."

Shi Lan pursed her lips, her dark eyes fixed on Huang Wanrou.

Huang Wanrou felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze. She tried to laugh but failed, so she had to return to where she was standing.

During this time, several men had already pushed open the red coffin lid, and under the lamplight, there were faint, dazzling lights inside.

“It’s gold,” Zhou Yan said, oblivious to the undercurrents in Shi Lan’s eyes, her entire focus on the burial objects.

Zhou Yan's words and that gleaming light filled the men with strength. Soon, the coffin lid made a muffled thud and tilted askew between the stone and wooden coffins.

Almost immediately, a dazzling golden light emanated from the coffin.

Shi Lan squinted and pursed her lips.

Huang Wanrou gently nudged Shi Lan, gesturing for her to step forward.

Shi Lan gave Huang Wanrou an extremely cold look and took two steps forward.

Huang Wanrou gave a disdainful and condescending smile and followed.

Wang Haibo and Old Man Yan had a clear division of labor: one would take objects that were above the waist, and the other would take objects that were below the waist.

Shi Lan came to the coffin and looked at the human figure whose face was covered by a golden mask. She silently murmured, "Please don't be offended, sir. I was forced into this. If you have any complaints, go find this Huang Wanrou. Huang Wanrou was the one who instigated all these things. There is a cause for every grievance, and a debtor for every crime. Please don't go looking for the wrong person."

Huang Wanrou didn't notice her strange expression and ordered, "Take off his mask."

Shi Lan pursed her lips unhappily and reluctantly reached out to pull the mask aside.

A face with a ruddy complexion, arched eyebrows, and a handsome appearance resembling that of Pan An appeared before everyone.

Looking at the face that looked like a living person, Shi Lan gasped in surprise and quickly took two steps back. The people around her who were busy packing things noticed the strangeness and looked over as well. When they saw the lifelike face, everyone stopped what they were doing. Old Man Yan cautiously took a step back and reached his wrinkled hand into the bag slung across his shoulder.

Huang Wanyi glanced at the terrified crowd and said coldly, "What's there to be afraid of? She just had a face-preserving bead in her mouth before she died."

After saying that, she looked at Shi Lan and said, "Go and get that bead for me, and our deal will be complete."

Shi Lan looked at her incredulously, then at her master who was being held tightly in the man's mouth. After a few seconds, she chuckled dryly, "Are you kidding me? You want me to fight with a dead man for something?"

Huang Wanrou's face turned cold, and her slender white hand slowly reached towards her waist. "This is not up to you. If you know what's good for you, go and get it for me, or don't blame me for being impolite."

Shi Lan rolled her eyes and saw the murderous intent on her face, so she raised her hands, smiled in a gesture of surrender, and said, "Don't be in such a hurry, I didn't say I wouldn't go." As she spoke, she took a small step toward the stone coffin.

Seeing that she had moved, Huang Wanrou's tense expression relaxed considerably. "That's right. Don't forget, your sister is still on the operating table."

Shi Lan was taken aback, but continued to chuckle, "Yes, I acted impulsively just now. Senior, you won't hold it against me, will you?"

Huang Wanrou snorted coldly and gestured to her with her eyes, "If you take that thing out of his mouth, I won't mind."

Shi Lan twitched her lips and turned to look at the extremely handsome male corpse and the not-so-round black bead in his mouth.

After considering it for a while, she felt she couldn't bring herself to do it, so she said, "Senior, could you give me a pair of gloves?"

Huang Wanrou frowned impatiently, looking displeased. "Stop talking nonsense. If I could handle it with gloves on, would I need you?"

Shi Lan couldn't help but show a strange expression, but Huang Wanrou didn't notice because the lighting in the tomb was too dim.

Those standing a step away, who overheard the cryptic conversation between the two, all fell silent.

Zhou Yan, who was closest to the bead, rolled her eyes and glanced at the unremarkable bead. With a sudden thought, she reached out and tried to pry it off when no one was looking.

Zhou Yan had a good plan. She felt that since Huang Wanrou cared so much about it, it must be something good.

As long as she got her hands on it, even if she couldn't keep it all for herself, she could still get a bigger share of the benefits. Little did she know that the bead had a hidden secret. Just as she reached out, a dark light flashed, and then it vanished like a mirage.

Zhou Yan's fingers brushed over it, and the bead remained intact in the male corpse's mouth.

Seeing this scene, Zhou Yan was very surprised. She gently rubbed her fingers together. If it weren't for the lingering coldness and chill of the male corpse's lips on her fingertips, she would have thought that what she had just seen was just a figment of her imagination.

The people present were surprised to see this scene. They all unconsciously looked up at Zhou Yan and then turned their gaze to Huang Wanrou.

Huang Wanrou glanced around, a haughty sneer on her face. "Do you think just anyone can get this? Let me tell you, no one but her can get it."

The group then turned their gazes to Shi Lan, their expressions somewhat meaningful.

Faced with such pressure, Shi Lan shifted uncomfortably to the side.
