Upon receiving his father's distress signal, Shi Jun did not expose him. He simply bent down and picked up Shi Lan, who was almost collapsing to the ground, nodded to his father, and strode up the stairs on one side.
Watching the two disappear down the corridor, Mr. Shi sighed heavily, shook his head, and began to worry again about the trouble his youngest daughter had caused.
With the advent of the interstellar age, all information travels at the speed of light, and Shi Lan's heroic deeds on that planet have spread throughout the entire alliance.
Just before Shi Lan entered the room, he received a commendation order from the Alliance's Supreme Commander, ordering him to award a medal of honor to the hero who fought alone on a planet ravaged by the Zerg, broke through the Zerg's encirclement, and bravely killed the queen Zerg.
Shi's father could only smile wryly. Shi Lan was a genuine Omega. If the Alphas in the Alliance knew that this medal, which might not be awarded to even one in 100,000 soldiers, was ultimately given to an Omega, who knows what kind of sensation it would cause.
Upstairs in the bedroom, Shi Lan lay on the soft bed, blinking her big, dark eyes and trying to charm Shi Jun.
"Brother, what reason does Father want me to give?"
Shi Jun looked down at her. She had thin arms and legs and was clearly a soft girl. She still looked as cute and well-behaved as before. But why did she suddenly have a brain fart after he left home to be stationed elsewhere and insisted on going to military school and hanging out with those rough men like them?
Shi Jun sighed, puzzled, and said, "Father thinks you didn't handle your own affairs well. Our family is supposed to be able to cause trouble and also be able to resolve it. Making family members clean up your messes is not our family's style."
Shi Lan blushed, feeling a little embarrassed, but still pouted and muttered softly, "It was an accident. How was I supposed to know that bastard Terry would leave me there alone? Besides, I managed to solve it in the end, didn't I?"
Shi Jun frowned, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes, then reached out and ruffled the soft strands of hair on her head, looking at her with affection, "So in the end, Father didn't hit you."
"That's because I was injured," Shi Lan struggled to free her hair, which was now only ear-length, from Shi Jun's large hand, and tilted her head to say, "So, Father won't hit me anymore?"
Shi Jun's eyes curved slightly, and his lips curled up almost imperceptibly. "That's hard to say. It depends on your future performance."
Shi Lan frowned, somewhat puzzled.
Seeing that she wouldn't let him go anytime soon, Shi Jun simply sat down on the sofa by the window, lightly touching the coffee table with his long fingers, and said in a low voice, "It is said that some of the rescuers were captivated by your charm and uploaded the scene of you there to the StarNet. It's going viral on the StarNet right now, and you're considered the most popular soldier." He paused, then suddenly said meaningfully, "If things go as expected, the Commander-in-Chief will make time to meet with you, or perhaps send a general to award you a medal as a form of recognition."
Shi Lan was a little surprised: "Are you going to give me a medal?"
Shi Jun nodded: "In order to meet the expectations of the public, and to demonstrate the Alliance's fairness and impartiality towards the soldiers who dare to face the Zerg and are not afraid of death."
Shi Lan grinned and chuckled, deeply feeling that it was the right choice for her to act so cool and pretentious; otherwise, how could she have received a medal for no reason?
Shi Jun stared blankly at her foolish expression, but his gaze was extremely unfriendly. "You're happy?"
Seeing him like this, Shi Lan dared not say yes. She quickly pulled up the blanket to cover most of her face and shook her head.
Shi Jun snorted and twitched his lips, saying, "Do you think this will change Father's mind and prevent him from sending you to the bride school?"
That's exactly what Shi Lan was thinking. As someone useful to the Alliance, she shouldn't be thrown into a run-down place like the Bride School to grow mushrooms and get moldy.
Shi Jun glanced at her, speechless at his sister's occasional lapses in judgment.
"This means that your potential has exceeded your father's original expectations. You will have a high chance of receiving the highest level of training at the bride school, and your spouse will be selected from among generals and marshals in the future."
Upon hearing the word "selection," Shi Lan felt terrible. She wasn't a trophy to be fought over by many people, destined to belong to the winner in the end.
Seeing her pale face and trembling fingers, Shi Jun's eyes held a hint of amusement. "Now you know fear?"
Shi Lan nodded hurriedly, scrambled out of bed, and rushed towards Shi Jun, "Big brother, I don't want to be that prize."
Shi Jun twitched his lips. What kind of nonsensical analogy was this?
Shi Lan buried her head in his chest, rubbing against him haphazardly, and used her cuteness and silliness to the fullest. "Big brother, please help me. If I'm just going to be handed over to a stranger like this, I might as well just be eaten by the Zerg."
Shi Jun pursed his thin lips, disliking her last words, and scolded her in a low voice, "When will you get rid of this habit of talking nonsense? What do you mean by eating or not eating? Do you want to make the whole family sad because of you? If something happens to you, how will Mother live?"
Shi Lan hugged his lean and muscular waist, nestled in his arms, and twisted her body. "I don't care. You can deal with Father for me. I don't want to marry those scumbags."
Shi Jun struggled to pull away this clingy person, but seeing her about to pounce again, he had no choice but to give in. "Alright, I understand. I'll screen potential partners and won't just marry you off randomly."
Shi Lan was still very dissatisfied, but she knew that this was all she could do for today.
The original owner's wish was not contradictory to getting married. Not getting married was just Shi Lan's own idea. After the previous Yue Zhan incident, she always subconsciously wanted to keep a safe distance from men who were not related to her.
The personal terminal on his wrist kept flashing. Shi Jun raised his wrist to take a look, then gently pushed Shi Lan to the bedside and said, "Go up and sleep obediently. Go see your mother tonight; she's very worried about you."
Shi Lan sat on the edge of the bed, her eyes darting around, and nodded obediently.
Shi Jun gently patted her head, then stood up and strode out.
In the evening, Shi Lan gracefully descended the stairs in a floor-length dress. There were only a few servants in the hall, and the old butler was preparing dinner. Shi Lan went to the dining room and asked the servants to freshly squeeze the green vine juice that her mother loved to drink.
Holding the glass of fruit juice that smelled of fresh grass, I followed the original owner's memories, walked through a long corridor, and arrived at the second floor on the other side.
After a few gentle knocks on the door, a soft, gentle voice came from inside, "Please come in."
Shi Lan smiled slightly, pushed open the door, and went inside.
The room was large, with a spacious sofa and coffee table near the door. Turning past a half-open screen-like partition, there was a large bed with sheer curtains hanging down. Lying on the bed was a woman who looked very much like Shi Lan, the original owner's mother, Wen Miaomiao.
Shi Lan stood by the screen and smiled at her mother. When her mother smiled back, she quickly walked over to her, put down the juice, and gently leaned on her mother's shoulder, feeling a warm and cozy feeling welling up inside her.
"Mother, I'm sorry for making you worry."
Mother Shi lovingly stroked her back, gently pulled her arm, which was still wrapped in gauze, and tenderly stroked it for a while before softly asking her, "I heard from your father that you did a great service this time?"
Shi Lan nodded, reached out and wrapped her arm around her waist, which was barely a hand's breadth away, and leaned against her shoulder affectionately. (To be continued.)
