Chapter 88 Love in the Tomb (Fifteen)

"Is this the Nine Thousand Years Old?"

Shi Lan felt completely bewildered; he had managed to turn such a fierce and ferocious creature into a ping-pong ball.

Ze nodded, and then bounced the ball on the ground like a ball.

Shi Lan looked at Ze speechlessly. Ze thought she wanted to play too, so he picked up the little black ball and handed it to Shi Lan, saying, "Here you go."

The black ball kept shaking, as if trying to break free. Ze frowned, raised his hand and pinched it, and suddenly the face of the Ninth Prince, who was screaming silently, appeared on the black ball.

Shi Lan shrugged and shook her head, saying, "I don't want to."

Ze frowned as he looked at her. Seeing that her complexion was not good, he thought that she had been frightened by the Ninth Prince, which was why she was so pale.

Ze glared angrily at the black ball, and without thinking, he squeezed it hard. The black ball vanished into thin air without even making a sound.

Shi Lan was stunned. Before she could speak, the tomb passage, the ornately decorated walls and stone pillars in front of her suddenly disappeared, and black and gray dust drifted in the air.

Shi Lan squinted and looked up.

Ze looked up at the raindrops falling in the air, then quickly took off his robe and covered Shi Lan's head with it.

Shi Lan felt a sudden darkness before her eyes, and then she was immediately enveloped in a faint, cool fragrance. She was then pulled into a strong and powerful embrace, and her whole body was lifted into the air.

A few seconds later, the robe was taken off. Shi Lan blinked, looked at Ze's handsome face which had turned ashen, pursed his lips, and tried his best to suppress his laughter.

Seeing her face contorted in a strange way, Ze pouted in grievance and reached out to pull Shi Lan's small hand.

Unexpectedly, his body was as cold as ice, which made Shi Lan shiver.

Ze hurriedly lowered his hand, looking at her with a nervous expression, like a child who had done something wrong.

Shi Lan smiled, tugged at his sleeve and shook it, "I'm fine. Here, let me wipe it off for you, look at your face, it's all smeared."

Shi Lan took out a handkerchief from her pocket and raised her hand to wipe him, but Ze hurriedly shook his head and took the handkerchief to wipe himself, saying, "It's dirty, Lan won't touch it."

Shi Lan was startled and turned to look at the place she had left earlier. Ze hurriedly grabbed her, not allowing her to look.

Qin Yi, who had been standing to the side with her eyes lowered, said in a low voice, "Those ashes are the ashes of the people who were buried here with us. Lord Ze is afraid that the evil spirits inside will harm you."

Shi Lan's expression changed as she recalled the snow-like dust and felt a chill run down her spine.

I really don't know how many innocent people were buried with the Ninth Prince.

Shi Lan remained silent, stunned. Ze, annoyed by Qin Yi's talkativeness, glanced at her unhappily, then with a flick of his sleeve, Qin Yi floated up, as if a piece of paper had slipped into his wide sleeve.

Shi Lan was slightly surprised and looked up at Ze.

Ze blinked, looking at her with a cute and innocent expression.

Shi Lan pointed to his sleeve and asked, "Where's Qin Yi?"

Ze shook his sleeves and said, "Put them away."

Shi Lan was helpless. She wanted to explain to him that the person said that with good intentions, but seeing that he was clearly tall, handsome, and dashing, yet looked completely clueless, she could only shake her head.

When Ze saw her shake her head, he thought she disagreed, so he quickly flicked his sleeve and threw Qin Yi out.

Because she didn't know her own weight, Qin Yi floated backward quite a distance before barely managing to stand still.

Feeling bad, Shi Lan wanted to help her up, but as she took a step forward, she realized she couldn't reach her at all.

Seeing her embarrassed expression, Qin Yi smiled and said, "Never mind, I was just being nosy."

Shi Lan grinned and gave Ze a reproachful look.

Ze blinked at her, completely oblivious to the fact that he had done something wrong.

Seeing the two interacting so intimately, Qin Yi sighed softly to herself.

Seeing her gloomy expression, Shi Lan turned to look at her with a puzzled expression.

Qin Yi quickly smiled and said, "With an adult by your side, leaving the tomb is no problem. Now I should go where I need to go."

Seeing that her expression was not right, Shi Lan quickly said, "Why don't you come with me? After we get out, I'll find someone to help you pass on to the afterlife, so you can be reincarnated."

Qin Yi shook her head and turned to look at the dark void. "No, my cousin is too lonely here by himself. I want to stay here and keep him company."

Qin Yi's voice was soft and her expression was calm.

Shi Lan's eyes welled up with tears, and two drops of hot tears silently slid down her cheeks.

"Zhang Ke's wish before he disappeared was that you would be reincarnated. Aren't you making him uneasy?"

Qin Yi smiled slightly and said, "Throughout my life, I have always been manipulated by others. Now that I am all alone, I want to indulge my whims for once."

After saying that, she turned and walked into the bottomless darkness. Shi Lan stepped forward to stop her, but Ze grabbed her sleeve and said, "She has vanished."

Looking at the pitch-black place, Shi Lan sighed softly. It turns out that there really is such a thing as a bond that transcends life and death.

Seeing her displeasure, Ze became anxious and said, "Don't be afraid, I'll stay with you."

Shi Lan turned her head to look at his haphazardly smeared face and nodded with a smile.

Seeing that she hadn't pulled her sleeve away, Ze pretended not to notice and continued to hold her tightly.

The tomb passage was empty. Shi Lan and Ze walked slowly side by side. A wisp of emerald firelight kept leaping, making the relief-carved images on the wall seem to come alive.

Shi Lan sensed something was wrong and looked up carefully. She then discovered that whenever the two of them passed by, the portraits on the walls would bow their heads and kneel in respect.

Shi Lan stared wide-eyed in surprise, looking up at the dazed Ze.

Ze walked past without noticing anything, and when he saw Shi Lan in surprise, he explained, "They are all under my protection."

Shi Lan nodded blankly, genuinely shocked. She had unwittingly picked up a big boss.

Ze chuckled and raised his hand to pinch her cheek, but remembering how she had been chilled by him earlier, his eyes darkened, and he regretfully lowered his arm.

Seeing him like this, Shi Lan reached out and tugged at his sleeve.

Ze quickly suppressed his disappointment and put on a smile again.

The two continued on their way.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Shi Lan felt her legs were so sore that she could no longer walk. Seeing that she was unsteady on her feet, Ze wanted to carry her.

Shi Lan shook her head and said, "No need, I can manage."

Ze saw that she was clearly exhausted but was still forcing herself to stay awake, her straight eyebrows furrowed, her rosy lips slightly pouting, and her head down twisting her sleeves.

After a while, he secretly glanced at Shi Lan with his beautiful eyes.

Shi Lan looked at him with amusement and asked softly, "Are you feeling guilty? Have you done something bad behind my back?"

Ze's eyes darted around, and after stammering for a while, he finally said, "I don't want Lan to leave. I want Lan to stay and keep me company."

Ze's childlike behavior made her laugh: "I'm human, unlike Ze. I need to eat every day. There's no food here at all. If I stay here, I'll starve to death. Do you want me to starve to death?"

Ze quickly shook his head and honestly replied, "I don't want to."

Shi Lan nodded, "How about you send me out first, and then I'll bring some food and stay with you for a while?"

Ze's eyes lit up, his face full of hope: "You really came to see me?"

Shi Lan nodded.

Ze smiled and said happily, "Okay, then I'll see you out."

After saying that, he strode ahead, leading the way, while Shi Lan shook her head and followed behind with a smile.
