Ding Qiangguo didn't expect that these words would make his father's expression change even more. He took two quick steps down, staring intently at Chen Ke, his lips trembling, but he couldn't utter a single word for a long time.
"Dad, Dad!" Ding Qiangguo rushed over and grabbed Ding Jianguo. "Dad, what's wrong with you?"
"So alike, so incredibly alike..."
Finally, Ding Qiangguo understood what Ding Jianguo was saying, but he was completely confused. "Dad, explain yourself clearly. What do you mean by 'similar'?"
Ding Jianguo ignored Ding Qiangguo's words, his eyes trembling as he looked at Chen Ke. "You, can you tell me... what's your name?"
"Hey Dad, what's all the fuss about? His name is—" Ding Qiangguo grabbed a handful of hair and looked at Chen Ke, "Yeah, I didn't even ask you your name, brother, what's yours?"
"······Chen Ke".
"Oh, Dad, my brother's name is—"
Ding Qiangguo suddenly stopped mid-sentence and raised his voice sharply: "!!! What did you just say your name was?"
Chen Ke repeated it.
Ding Jianguo's eyes were red with excitement, and he could barely stand.
Ding Qiangguo suddenly looked enlightened, and said sarcastically, "Well, you liar, you even found out my great-grandfather's name! But you made a mistake. It's one thing to impersonate his grandson or nephew, but to impersonate him himself? Hahaha... Do you even know what era he lived in? Laughable! He wouldn't even be alive now, let alone someone as young as you—"
"Shut up!" Ding Jianguo slapped Ding Qiangguo's white-haired head. "You bastard, you're always so irresponsible. What kind of mess have you made of your perfectly good hair? Your father's hair isn't even as white as yours."
After yelling at his troublesome son, Ding Jianguo looked at Chen Ke with a respectful expression, "I... I don't know how to address you yet, please... please come inside with me first."
"Okay." Chen Ke stepped onto the stairs as Ding Jianguo greeted him.
Ding Qiangguo was stunned by his father's actions and followed behind the two men, indignantly, "No, no, Dad, he's my brother. How am I supposed to get along with him after this?"
Ding Jianguo turned around and glared at Ding Qiangguo, warning him not to say anything more.
Ding Qiangguo, however, didn't understand at all. When Ding Jianguo went to pour tea for Chen Ke, he leaned close to Chen Ke's ear and threatened him, "You better not be a liar. My dad and the others are very persistent in finding my great-grandfather. They're willing to believe anything, no matter how bizarre it is. But I'm someone who has received nine years of compulsory education. I'm a staunch materialist. So, hmph... don't think you can fool me!"
Ding Qiangguo thought his words were threatening enough, so he sat down on the sofa opposite Chen Ke with satisfaction, ready to stare at him with his all-knowing wisdom and make him dare not lie.
But before he could even sit down, his ear was grabbed.
"Oh dear, oh dear..." Then he immediately launched into a rap~
"You have no manners! Is this a place for you to sit? Kneel down."
Ding Qiangguo couldn't believe it. "Dad? I just dyed my hair white, is that a crime?"
Ding Jianguo carefully poured Chen Ke a cup of tea, speaking with utmost respect, "I don't know if this tea suits your taste."
Chen Ke picked up the teacup, but his gaze remained fixed on it.
...This turned out to be the fake rabbit fur teacup he made back then.
"this······"
"This, this is of course a fake rabbit fur teacup. The real one is in the National Museum. But this realistic fake is only found in my family. It's an heirloom, so it's quite a treasure," Ding Qiangguo said proudly.
Ding Jianguo's face darkened instantly. He rushed over and slapped Ding Qiangguo on the head. "Who do you think you are, you ignorant brat? Kneel down here!"
"No way!" Ding Qiangguo turned his head away, his face full of disdain. "Me, kneel before him? Doesn't he fear shortening his lifespan?"
"Smack!"
A loud slap rang out.
The entire living room fell silent.
Ding Qiangguo covered his face, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Ding Jianguo was genuinely angry. Ding Qiangguo would say anything, but he absolutely couldn't say anything about Chen Ke... that he would shorten his lifespan. He didn't know that this was a miracle they had prayed for day and night...
His great-grandparents were talking about Chen Ke before they passed away.
His second uncle, Chen Zhuo, a ruthless general throughout his life, cried like a child before he closed his eyes, repeatedly calling out, "Brother, come back..."
His mother, Zhou Shuya, never saw her older brother when she was born, but before she took her last breath, she instructed them to find her older brother, Chen Ke, no matter what, even if it was just a tiny bit of information about him.
And now, though it seems unbelievable, his uncle, Chen Ke, whom his elders had been searching for their entire lives, seems to have truly reappeared…
However, his appearance was just like Chen Ke in his second uncle's painting. He remembered his mother saying that the eldest uncle in the painting was the twenty-two-year-old Chen Ke in his second uncle's memory.
"Qiangguo, you misspoke. Apologize to your great-grandfather," Ding Jianguo commanded without room for argument.
Ding Qiangguo looked shocked. "Dad... are you crazy, or am I? My great-grandfather lived during the Republic of China era. If he were really alive now, wouldn't he be an ancient monster—"
Ding Qiangguo stopped abruptly, then looked at Chen Ke with a horrified expression. He remembered that Chen Ke's online name was something like "Mr. Republic of China," and his father was so certain... Could it be...?
