Chapter 84 Cannon Fodder 15 shuhaige.net

After hearing Chen Zhengxin's words, Miao Lingyu glanced at Chen Ke with her bright eyes, then turned and walked away with utter arrogance.

The clansmen behind him followed closely until the last chubby little girl was walking. Suddenly, she took a step and rushed to Chen Ke's side and whispered, "Daoist Master, Daoist Master, my Holy Maiden probably has her eye on you. She likes your looks."

After saying that, the little girl lifted her skirt and ran inside with a jingling sound.

While running, he muttered to himself: "The Gu worms raised by handsome guys are also beautiful."

Chen Ke: ""

Can we go a little further away before muttering about it?

"You unfilial son, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and go back to your room!" Chen Zhengxin shouted and turned to leave.

It was as if he was afraid Chen Ke would give him another one.

Chen Ke raised an eyebrow and walked to Chen Daozhi's side. "You removed the silencing talisman?"

Chen Daozhi shook his head in shame, "It was Master Yi Yi who deciphered it."

"Oh, no wonder."

Watching Chen Ke's departing figure, Chen Daozhi's gaze was complex.

Actually, he preferred the mountain temple to the Chen family. Only such an unrestrained life could nurture a free-spirited and unconventional person like Chen Ke.

Chen Ke didn't go to the hall to join the fun; he went straight back to his room.

He thought that since he hadn't gone to join the fun, the Chen family probably wouldn't remember him by now, but later that evening the butler knocked on the door and brought someone over.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Chen, we have just had too many guests and we don't have enough rooms. We'll have to make do with you and this gentleman..." The butler turned around and looked at the person who was covered from head to toe. He hesitated for a long time, not knowing how to address him. Finally, he smiled awkwardly and continued, "You and this gentleman will stay for the night."

Chen Ke didn't mind, and stepped aside to let "this person" in, saying, "It's alright."

"I'm sorry to have troubled Mr. Chen."

After the housekeeper left, Chen Ke closed the door.

Turning around, I was stunned. Where was he?

Chen Ke finally saw the person wrapped up like a mummy on the roof beam, except that a mummy has white strips of cloth, while this person has black strips of cloth.

"I say, what are you, a ninja from an island nation, doing getting involved in our Chinese Taoist practices?"

The black cloth strip turned over, clearly indicating it had no intention of communicating with Chen Ke.

Chen Ke: Alright, it seems this Xuan Dao competition has become internationalized, so it's normal for a ninja to show up.

I just don't know if the Ghost King of the Coffin can handle this foreign food.

After tidying up, Chen Ke lay down on the bed to rest, completely unconcerned about whether there were outsiders in the room.

In the middle of the night, a light drizzle finally began to fall. Just when Chen Ke should have been falling asleep to the sound of the rain, he quietly opened his eyes.

The black cloth strip has disappeared.

Chen Keli got up and went to the window. He gently pushed the window open. It was pitch black outside, but with his Heavenly Eye, he immediately saw the ghosts and monsters hidden in the darkness.

Looking up at the sky again, the soaring ghostly aura seemed to have invaded a ghostly realm.

How is that possible? The Ghost King has already come out?

Without thinking too much, Chen Ke turned around, stuffed all the drawn talismans into his pocket, and walked straight into the rain.

But as soon as Chen Ke stepped into the rain, he turned back. Something was wrong with the rain!

He walked along the veranda toward the main house, and halfway there he suddenly heard a piercing scream.

Chen Ke quickened his pace, fearing that it might affect the innocent servants of the Chen family.

"Ah! A ghost! A ghost!" A woman with disheveled hair rushed out from around the corner, and Chen Ke instinctively reached out to support her.

The man looked up in alarm, only to find it was Pan Weiyin.

Chen Ke quickly shook off Pan Weiyin's hand, saying, "What bad luck!"

Pan Weiyin, however, was terrified and clung tightly to Chen Ke, crying out, "There's a ghost! There's a ghost!"

Chen Ke scoffed, "You married someone who specializes in catching ghosts, why are you afraid of ghosts?"

Pan Weiyin seemed to snap out of her daze after hearing Chen Ke's words, "It's not like I'm the one who's going to catch it, what's wrong with me being afraid? How strange!"

Chen Ke forcefully shook off Pan Weiyin and moved a little distance away from her before asking, "What just happened?"

"You'd better tell the truth, or I can't guarantee you won't become food for the ghosts."

Pan Weiyin's face was pale, a hint of triumph flashing in her eyes. She stammered, "I, I don't know. I was just sleeping peacefully when a hanged ghost suddenly fell from the roof beam. I was scared half to death and rushed out of the room. And then, that was it."

"What did those people say when they gathered in the hall that evening?"

Pan Weiyin's eyes darted around, and she stammered.

"explain!"

"I just said... Ah! There's a ghost!" Pan Weiyin suddenly pointed behind Chen Ke and screamed before running away like a madwoman.

Pan Weiyin thought Chen Ke would turn around, but to her surprise, Chen Ke watched her run away with a calm expression.

Pan Weiyin felt a chill run down her spine whenever she thought of Chen Ke's indifferent eyes that seemed to see through everything. This brat was indeed clever and resourceful. If she didn't kill him soon, he would definitely become a major threat to Dao Zhi in the future.

It seems this is a trap designed to confuse him? Pan Weiyin must have known the function of the wooden fish because she specifically came in to steal it.

However, it was impossible for the Chen family to set up a bewildering array. They hadn't reacted even after he had been knocking on the wooden fish for so long, let alone suddenly understand.

That means there must have been a wise person among the people who came in the afternoon who gave them some guidance.

Listening to the increasingly heavy rain, Chen Ke took strange steps and began to paste talismans under the eaves. This bewildering array did not harm him, but it took some time to unravel. It seemed that the person who set up the array only wanted to trap him here.

Pan Weiyin only truly breathed a sigh of relief after escaping the maze using Master Yi Yi's method.

Stepping into the secret council chamber, it was brightly lit.
