Chapter 19 The Ungrateful Uncle

"I don't know what they were thinking a while ago, the whole family stayed at home and didn't work much, just eating their stored food every day. Then Chunhua jumped into the river and disappeared without a trace. Everyone says that their family has had a really bad time and they can't make ends meet anymore."

Xie Ming noticed the old man's face was full of excitement and mystery, and he patted the dirt off his body and pretended to be serious.

"My lord, don't worry! I'm already a child here, what happens over there is none of my business."

“If they dare to cause trouble for you, your brothers aren’t pushovers either. Just give them a shout and we’ll smash their door.”

"Okay!"

Xie Ming was very happy with this gain, regardless of whether it was true or not. With the help of his direct lineage, he felt more confident in causing trouble in Dagang Village.

"I have to say, you old rascal, my Mingzi came back and kept him here to work."

An old man and a young man followed the voices and saw Xie Hengshou coming over with a pipe.

"Grandpa, what brings you here?" Xie Ming said.

"I was bringing water to your brothers when I heard your wife say you were back, so I came looking for you, didn't I?" Xie Hengshou said, glancing sideways at the old man standing next to him.

"Brother, Brother Ming saw I wasn't feeling well and came to lend a hand. The kid is innocent, you can't lecture him." The old man was also unhappy. He had just felt better after Xie Ming helped him with the work.

"Who told you to show off? Your sons are all good. They're willing to take care of you, but you never listen to them. If you really faint, that's fine, but I'm afraid you'll end up half-dead, who do you want to drag down with you!"

Xie Hengshou's words were unpleasant to hear, but they were true. The most terrifying thing is when the elderly don't realize they're getting old; when that time comes, all they can do is lament: "No filial sons remain by the bedside of a long-term sick person."

But with elderly parents to care for and young children to raise, life is tough, and it's impossible to be attentive to everything. Even when healthy, there are bound to be bumps and bruises; how much more so when one is bedridden and needs constant care?

Unfilial children and grandchildren are a minority in the world, so the greatest blessing for children and grandchildren is for the elderly to take good care of themselves.

"Uncle, life will be good in Dagang Village from now on. You'll enjoy a few more years of happiness." Xie Ming quickly said nice things when he saw the old man's face darken even more.

"Look how nice the child's words are! You're the one with the crooked mouth!" The old man angrily took the farm tools from Xie Ming's hands and left.

Xie Hengshou didn't retort until everyone left, then said, "You did a good job, but you've ruined these clothes."

"It's alright, I'll wash up later. That magistrate should be back by now."

Xie Hengshou gestured with his chin, indicating that he should look at the vegetables in the field that hadn't been properly prepared yet. He understood; the man had gone home to find "reinforcements."

"I probably won't be coming again. I must be feeling unwell today! Come on, let's go back together!"

The two walked towards the Xie family home, one after the other. On the way, Xie Ming told them everything that had happened recently.

Xie Laowai's family naturally knew that Xie Ming had returned to the village. They knew that things could not be delayed any longer. If the hardworking Xie Ming did not come back, their good days would really be ruined.

So, the family quickly gathered inside and started whispering among themselves.

No matter what they planned, Xie Ming simply waited quietly for them to make their move.

He hadn't been completely idle in the village before; in the past few months, he had hired a few young men from the village to take turns keeping an eye on that family.

Now, everyone who needs to know knows pretty much who that family met and what they wanted to do.

Dagang Village is, after all, dominated by the Xie family, and Xie Hengshou is willing to go all out. After learning about Xie Ming's plans, he knew that the Xie family had to be kicked out.

The grandfather and grandson hadn't discussed this matter openly, but both being intelligent people, they understood the implications.

So, he had long planned to get rid of this rotten apple in the village this year. Even if he didn't get the "advanced" award this year, with Xie Ming's money backing him up, no one in the village would say anything bad. And once those things were implemented next year, the village would be more than happy to have fewer people sharing the benefits.

Therefore, he and several insiders were all waiting for Lao Xie's family to do something so they could take them all down at once.

That day, Lao Xie's family finally found an opportunity.

Actually, Xie Mingzhen couldn't wait any longer. He had been back for two days, and none of those people had had a chance to get close to him.

Speaking of which, it was after that old lord stopped working that he became a "guardian knight," keeping a close eye on him, so no one had even the slightest chance.

Helpless, Xie Ming sneaked away before the guardian arrived, and after lingering in front of the Xie family for a while, he went up the mountain.

When Xie Ming woke up from his daze, he saw several members of the Xie family surrounding him.

"He's awake, he's awake..." Everyone quickly gathered around when they heard Xie Jinzhu's voice.

"What are you doing?" Xie Ming looked around and asked, feigning fear.

“What kind of demon or monster dares to possess my grandson’s body?”

The speaker was Xie Laowai, who, although he hadn't witnessed the prosperity of the Xie family's later generations, firmly believed in these matters.

"Old Wai, even though I'm no longer a member of the Xie family, I'm still your nephew. How can you say that? Besides, you're promoting feudal superstition; you might get sent for reform through labor."

"Hehe~ You monster, stop talking nonsense. Don't you even know where you are? If you know what's good for you, return your body to my nephew, or we'll make you regret it today!" Xie Quanfu glared at him fiercely.

Ever since Xie Ming lost control, the Xie family has been plagued by misfortunes, and they are all seething with anger and want to vent it.

Now that he had an outlet for his anger, Xie Quanfu wasn't just going to talk the talk.

No matter what, the person in front of them will suffer later, and Xie Quanfu is not the only one with this thought.

Everyone else was eager to try, and Zhao Erya was practically going crazy with anticipation.
