Chapter 17
Suddenly, Rong Rong felt the gazes falling on her become scorching.
Rongrong always felt that this was related to the woman the storyteller talked about.
The Rong family of Qinghe... the Rong family?
A sudden inspiration struck.
Rong Rong turned to look at Li Tianyi, only to see him staring blankly at the storyteller with icy eyes, as if he were looking at a dead man.
"The Rong family's daughter was an absolute beauty, married to... married to..." The storyteller wiped the cold sweat from his brow. He wondered if it was just his imagination, but the air around him seemed thinner, making it hard to breathe. He felt like he couldn't continue...
"Who did he marry?" Rong Rong asked curiously.
The light and melodious voice greatly alleviated the storyteller's fear.
Before the storyteller could respond, Li Tianyi suddenly stood up, took Rong Rong's hand, and walked towards the door, saying, "We should go back."
"I haven't finished listening yet!" Rong Rong said, dissatisfied.
With a whoosh of swords, the people at the other two tables simultaneously rose and flew towards Li Tianyi and Rong Rong.
Just as the other side was about to rush in, Nan Qi suddenly led his men from outside the door and rushed in at high speed, barely managing to stop the two groups of people by getting past them.
Li Tianyi left with Rong Rong without looking back, showing no signs of anxiety from beginning to end, as if he was certain from the start that the two groups of people couldn't stop him.
"Why won't you let me finish listening? Is the Rong family woman he's talking about me? My home is in Qinghe?"
On the way, Rong Rong kept asking questions.
Li Tianyi's thin lips were pressed tightly together, and he didn't utter a word. The good mood he had just had when he left home had vanished. Now, only the love potion that was about to mature could help him suppress his rage.
Even though Rongrong's husband was an idiot and had been pushed off a cliff by Rongrong to his death, he would still be driven mad with jealousy.
He didn't want Rong Rong to know about that idiot's existence, not even a little bit!
That storyteller is absolutely despicable!
"Li Tianyi!" Rong Rong was angry.
Li Tianyi had to stop and comfort him, saying, "I'll tell you everything when we get back."
"Including those who are pursuing you."
"I'll go wherever you want afterward, and I'll accompany you home."
"Really?" Rong Rong asked doubtfully.
"Of course!" Li Tianyi leaned down, letting Rong Rong see the seriousness in his eyes. "If I can't do it, I'll die a horrible death!"
Rong Rong's heart stirred slightly, but she didn't say anything more and obediently followed Li Tianyi back to the inn.
As soon as Rong Rong returned to her room, Li Tianyi rushed to the next room and went straight to the jade jar on the table.
"Young master, there's only a cup of tea's time left." Attendant Nan breathed a sigh of relief; his master had finally returned safely.
Li Tianyi picked up the jade jar. The rustling sound inside the jar had stopped. The jar would only resume its activity when the Gu worms matured.
The small jade jar felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. As time went by, Li Tianyi's emotions became increasingly agitated and difficult to calm down.
Suddenly, there was a pattering sound outside the window.
"Who?" Li Tianyi turned his head, and the window suddenly shattered as someone rushed in.
"Your Uncle Yang!"
The intruder lunged at the jade jar in Li Tianyi's hand, but Li Tianyi dodged it with a quick spin.
The newcomer roared and punched again, but Nan Shi swung his palm to catch the punch.
Li Tianyi quickly stepped back, intending to push open the door and leave.
Suddenly, the door was pierced by a sword, the tip of which barely grazed Li Tianyi's nose.
Immediately afterward, the door collapsed to the ground, and a man in brocade robes and a jade crown, with a cold and indifferent face and eyes, thrust his sword at Li Tianyi with a flash of light.
"You treacherous Prince Yu, you've come at the perfect time! I'll take your dog's life!" Yang Yan's tiger eyes flashed with a sharp light, and after forcing back the Southern Attendant with a fierce punch, he slammed it heavily towards Prince Yu.
Having had his beauty stolen, been falsely accused and imprisoned, and relentlessly pursued, Yang Yan had long been seething with rage, wishing he could tear Prince Yu to pieces. Now that he had finally seen the man, he didn't even care about Li Tianyi and rushed straight at Prince Yu.
Li Tianyi seized the opportunity to leap out of the window, with Nan Shi following closely behind.
"Fool!" Prince Yu's eyes were sharp. He flipped his wrist and sword energy surged like a rainbow. As the sword moved, it forced Yang Yan into a corner, making it impossible for him to advance any further.
Then Prince Yu turned around, jumped out of the window, and chased after Li Tianyi.
Yang Yan was furious and slammed his fist on the table before quickly following suit.
Now is definitely not the time to settle scores. We should catch that little thief Li Tianyi first and snatch the love potion from his hands!
Prince Yu must have known what Li Tianyi was planning, otherwise he wouldn't have come in person.
Before Li Tianyi could even leave the inn, he was stopped by Prince Yu. Prince Yu and Yang Yan suddenly joined forces and attacked Li Tianyi together.
Fortunately, Nan Shi was also there, so it was a two-on-two fight, and the four of them were evenly matched for a time.
Prince Yu and Yang Yan are both extremely powerful, surpassing Li Tianyi and Nan Shi. If the two truly cooperate, they can quickly eliminate Li Tianyi and Nan Shi.
Unfortunately, Yang Yan would occasionally harass Prince Yu, preventing him from seizing the jade jar. Because of his interference, Li Tianyi and the Southern Attendant barely managed to withstand the two men's attacks.
The situation reached a delicate balance; no one could take the jade jar away, and no one could escape.
Not far from the inn, Rong Rong, dressed in coarse linen clothes and with a veil wrapped around her head, hurried along the street.
Her attire was no different from that of the locals, but even so, her figure was still quite distinctive.
She was an absolute beauty, stunning even when draped in a burlap sack.
Clearly, Rong Rong has not yet realized this.
She escaped just as Li Tianyi left her room.
After leaving the teahouse, Li Tianyi was completely disoriented. Unaware of what was happening, Rong Rong seized the opportunity and managed to escape.
Rong Rong touched the jewelry she had brought out from her sleeve, feeling much more at ease, and quickened her pace.
She needed to get out of the city before dark.
There were few pedestrians on the road. When she turned the next corner, Rong Rong paused and slowed her pace.
Just ahead on the road, a group of people who were clearly from out of town were coming towards Rong Rong, led by two young masters from wealthy families.
One was a refined and handsome scholar, the other a rebellious and unruly youth. The two rode their horses and immediately turned their gazes toward Rong Rong the moment she appeared, their expressions instantly turning serious.
Rong Rong's heart was pounding, and she felt inexplicably nervous; she was like a frightened bird.
She silently lowered her head and moved forward slowly, comforting herself not to think too much, that these were strangers, and cheering herself up.
As she got closer to the group, and they didn't react at all, Rong Rong's heart finally calmed down, and her breathing gradually became steady.
However, just as they were about to pass each other, the boy closest to Rong Rong suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"Got you!" A hoarse voice, mixed with joy and malice, rang out as the young man scooped Rong Rong up and held her against his chest, casually ripping off the veil from her head. "Rong Rong!"
In the blink of an eye, Rong Rong met the boy's bright eyes, but what lay in those eyes was a frightening infatuation and ruthlessness.
"You..." Rong Rong only managed to utter a few words before the boy pressed down on her. Rong Rong was dumbfounded, and her body suddenly stiffened.
"Third brother!" A faint warning voice sounded from the side, and the boy finally stopped what he was doing.
