Aunt Zhao took her hand and said, "Come on, I'll take you to eat. I specially saved some for you."
Sneaking into the kitchen, Aunt Zhao took out a small bowl containing a few pieces of chicken and some cabbage. She handed Ye Jiu a steamed bun and a pair of chopsticks, saying, "Eat up."
Ye Jiu touched the bowl; the bowl was still warm. She strongly suspected that the chicken had been taken from the villains' vegetable dish.
Sure enough, Aunt Zhao then leaned close to her ear and said mysteriously, "This is something I secretly saved. I thought you hadn't eaten meat in a long time, so I specially saved it for you. Eat it quickly, or it won't be good if the shopkeeper finds out."
Ye Jiu was the youngest child in the inn, and everyone treated her like a daughter, with Aunt Zhao being the most fond of her.
Ye Jiu knew that this was because she had lost a daughter a few years ago. If she had lived, she would have been the same age as Ye Jiu, and Ye Jiu was a cook, so she would have often thought of ways to give her extra meals.

Ye Jiu ate a bite of steamed bun and a bite of vegetables, finishing the small bowl of vegetables without leaving a single drop. Seeing that she had finished eating, Aunt Zhao gently patted her head and said, "Hurry up and go out now that you're full. Don't let the shopkeeper not be able to find you. I'll clean up."
Ye Jiu nodded obediently and had just stepped out of the kitchen when the manager saw her. "Xiao Jiu, come here, help clean up. While there are fewer people, let's clean the main hall."
So Ye Jiu helped them change the water, carrying the basin around the lobby.
