"No, no, I don't hate you. I was just making a hypothetical scenario. There's always a chance of something going wrong." Ye Jiu waved his hands repeatedly. No, he felt like he was about to shatter. Had she said something too hurtful?
“There won’t be any ‘what ifs’,” Lorian said, emphasizing each word. “There won’t be any ‘what ifs’, there’s no such assumption.”
Lorien looked up and met Ye Jiu's gaze. "Even if you find someone you like in the future, I won't interfere. I just want to stay by your side, even if it's just as a real servant."
Lori sniffed. "At worst, I'll cook for you two."
Ye Jiu felt as if she had been shot in the chest. Was she really that awful?! How could she possibly do such a thing?!
Lorian continued, "So, is the reason you haven't been paying much attention to me lately also because of this assumption?"
"Yes, people will always part ways one day."
With red eyes, Luo Rui'an gripped Ye Jiu's shoulders tightly, "No, absolutely not."
To soothe Luo Rui'an's emotions, Ye Jiu said, "Okay, okay, we won't separate."
Luo Rui'an glanced at Ye Jiu but didn't say anything. The perfunctory tone in her words was so obvious that he didn't have the courage to speak again.
After calming himself down, and realizing it was time for class, he sat back down in his seat.
Buvis Magic Academy has no magical restrictions, so he used magic to cover up his crying as soon as he started, and therefore he was not worried at all about being seen in his disheveled state by anyone other than Ye Jiu.
But even after sitting back down in his seat, he couldn't help feeling aggrieved as he looked at Ye Jiu's back.
Why would anyone assume he would break up with her? It's too much to condemn him to death over something that never even happened!
Enraged, Loriel decided to cut ties with Ye Jiu for the entire class period, and if she ever wanted steak again, she'd make it perfectly well-done!
...
This incident did not improve Ye Jiu and Luo Rui'an's relationship; on the contrary, it made them more distant.
On their last day at Buvis Magic Academy, they were taken along to clear out the alien beasts.
Ye Jiu had thought that they might not be included in such a program, and she even voiced her thoughts aloud. Just then, Lu Enna overheard and cheerfully explained:
"Among the seven major magic academies, only Buvis organizes the event of clearing out alien beasts. It is a unique feature of our school. Of course, we want you exchange students to experience it. Even if you don't arrive at the end of the month, we will start it in advance for you."
Luna laughed out loud, seemingly remembering something. "When Principal Buvis learned about this exchange program, he decided that the exchange students should definitely experience it. He even held a meeting for us teachers to remind us not to forget to bring the exchange students."
Ye Jiu's eyes lit up. "So what is the event schedule?"
Runna was happy to answer Ye Jiu's questions. "First, we'll gather everyone together and count the number of students. Then we'll distribute defensive magic items to the students. After that, we'll use a teleportation array to reach the edge of the Meria continent. Then you're free to do whatever you want. Practice the skills you've learned this week, or practice the magic you want to use, or just kill the alien beasts."
Runa: "Killing more monsters will give you rewards, but if you kill more than 100, you will only get one scroll. Any kind of scroll will do."
Scrolls have always been sought after by many people on the continent of Meria because of their portability and versatility, but their high cost has also deterred many people. Now, you can get the scroll you want with just 100 exotic beasts, which is very cost-effective!
Although a scroll isn't expensive for Ye Jiu's current assets, why spend money when you can get it for free?
Outside of spring and summer, the combat power of alien beasts is very weak. As long as you have learned something at the magic academy, you will be able to kill an alien beast. It can be said that except for the spring and summer, alien beasts can be crushed like ants.
The reason why the beasts become stronger and more violent during the transition from spring to summer is because this is their breeding season. In order to protect their cubs and obtain more resources, they will set off to attack the cities of other races at this time to obtain resources for survival and ensure the growth of their cubs.
They have a very high reproductive rate; they can reproduce tens of thousands of offspring in just 20 days between spring and summer, which is why the strange beasts have never been completely eradicated.
Lu Enna talked on and on with Ye Jiu, giving Ye Jiu a deeper understanding of these things. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the school gate.
Ye Jiu found her class's line and joined it, waiting for the teachers to make further arrangements.
Then a magical artifact resembling a paper crane was distributed to everyone.
Runa held up the origami crane in her hand. "This is a shield that can help you withstand one high-level spell. If you encounter any accidents, contact your teachers immediately using communication magic, and we will come to rescue you as soon as possible."
Ye Jiu looked at the origami crane in her hand again and again, but she really couldn't see what made it look like a magical artifact; it just felt like an ordinary origami.
But Ye Jiu could sense the magical fluctuations on the origami cranes upon closer inspection, confirming that it was indeed a magical artifact.
Ye Jiu clicked his tongue in amazement. No wonder Buvis's accommodations weren't very good; he'd used all his money to invest in these things. This little thing didn't look cheap at all.
Unlike the excited exchange students, the other Buvis students seemed unusually calm, after all, this was their umpteenth time setting off.
Driven by curiosity about the strange beast, Ye Jiu stepped into the teleportation array. After a brief dizzying sensation, Ye Jiu landed successfully.
She looked around. The edge of the continent of Meria was a dense forest, where strange beasts usually lived in caves or tree hollows.
After taking a good look around, Ye Jiu suddenly realized, "Hey, why am I all alone? Weren't there so many people walking into that teleportation array together?!"
