Chapter 12 The Gentle School Prince is an Act 12

The sudden ringing of the phone interrupted Su Qingyue's melancholy. As soon as she answered, she heard Ye Jiu's energetic voice.

"Su Qingyue, are you free right now? A new cake shop opened on the pedestrian street. They have a buy-one-get-one-free offer for couples. Do you want to come with me?" Ye Jiu had just seen the shop on a video. The cakes looked amazing, and her sweet tooth couldn't wait to try them. Plus, with the buy-one-get-one-free offer for couples, Ye Jiu immediately thought of Su Qingyue.

Ye Jiu's call came at just the right time. He didn't care about the first half of Ye Jiu's sentence. He wanted to see her now, and he didn't care about any reason or anything else.

"Okay, wait for me."

"You don't need to come over. Can't Uncle Wang go and pick you up?"

"No need, I happen to be near your house, I'll be downstairs in no time."

"Oh, are you going out on business?"

"Yeah, I'm doing part-time work."

"Oh right, I forgot, I'll transfer the money to you right now." As soon as she finished speaking, Su Qingyue saw that she had received a transfer on her WeChat account.

"I'll prepay. The maximum amount that can be transferred via WeChat is 200,000 RMB at a time, which is too much trouble. Next time, just give me your card number and I'll transfer it to you directly."

Su Qingyue silently accepted the payment, hung up the phone, and quickened her pace.

At this moment, the desire for money reached its peak.

——

After Su Qingyue got downstairs, she sent a message to Ye Jiu. Ye Jiu jogged out of the building and said, "You didn't have to wait long, did you? Hehe."

"No, have you had lunch yet?" he asked casually.

"I've eaten, I've eaten. What about you? Haven't you eaten yet?"

"Gurgle~" Su Qingyue's stomach answered the question for him. Su Qingyue pursed his lips, his face expressionless, but his face turned red all the way to his neck.

"Pfft, take it. I'll eat with you first, and then we'll go to the cake shop. It's not far, so let's just walk there."

Ye Jiu was wearing a light blue square-neck dress and a pair of white sneakers. She was holding a parasol for the two of them. Su Qingyue was much taller than her, so it was a bit tiring for her to hold the umbrella for him.

"Give it to me, I'll hold the umbrella." Su Qingyue took the umbrella handle and easily sheltered the two of them under the umbrella, taking advantage of her height.

Ye Jiu looked up at the umbrella that had grown taller and sighed, "It's so nice to be tall. I wish I could be even taller."

Ye Jiu is 165cm tall, which is not short, but Su Qingyue is 182cm tall. With a height difference of nearly 20cm, Ye Jiu looks petite and lovely standing next to Su Qingyue.

“Being tall isn’t necessarily a good thing.” Su Qingyue looked down and used her other hand to straighten the rolled-up collar of her clothes.

Is that so?

"Um."

Su Qingyue grew faster than his peers from a young age. Being tall, he naturally ate more. That person would always beat him because of his large appetite. After he understood why he was being beaten, eating became something he hated. As a result, he was thin, very thin, and suffered from anemia and hypoglycemia. Later, he realized that there was only one reason why he was being beaten: he was his son, and he had given him half of his genes. As his blood father, he felt entitled to beat his son at will.

Disgusting, self-righteous.

Seeing that Su Qingyue had suddenly started to space out, Ye Jiu tugged at Su Qingyue's sleeve. "Su Qingyue, why did you suddenly start to space out?"

He snapped out of his reverie, smiled gently, and said, "Sorry for daydreaming. Let's keep going."

"Oh, okay." Ye Jiu observed his expression, trying to figure out why he looked so strange. She felt that his expression just now was a bit off.

Su Qingyue's expression remained unchanged, showing no trace of her previous appearance. Ye Jiu withdrew her gaze. Could she have been mistaken? Perhaps, the sun was too dazzling and she was hallucinating.

——

There are many restaurants along the pedestrian street. Ye Jiu clenched her fingers, pretending to have a microphone in her hand, and interviewed Su Qingyue, "What do you want to eat?"

"It will be all right."

"Anything is fine, it's your food. I'm not making decisions for you."

Su Qingyue looked at the shops along the way. These shops were of different sizes and looked inexpensive, which was out of place with Ye Jiuge dressed in designer brands.

"Will you come in with me?" Su Qingyue asked.

"Go inside, where else am I supposed to go?"

"Then let's have mala tang." Su Qingyue didn't know what was wrong with her, but she deliberately chose the smallest-looking shop with the most customers in the vicinity.

Upon entering the store, a wave of heat hit her. There was no air conditioning, only two large fans working loudly. There were several tables and chairs in the store, all of which looked old. The seats near the fans were occupied. Ye Jiu reluctantly found the second seat closest to the fan and, not caring about the dirt, simply pulled up her skirt and sat down.

"Go order your food, I'll wait for you here."

After seeing Su Qingyue off, Ye Jiu took out her phone, propped her face up with one hand, and scrolled through videos while waiting.

After Su Qingyue finished ordering, he turned to look at Ye Jiu. Ye Jiu was sitting with her back to him. Her dress was very pretty, but it seemed to be covered by a layer of grease and smoke in the restaurant. The tables and chairs were a bit cramped, so Ye Jiu stretched out her legs and dragged the chair a little further away. The edges of her white shoes had been stained black at some point, making her seem no different from an ordinary person.

She noticed Su Qingyue looking at him, turned her head and smiled at him, mouthing "hurry up" to him.

Su Qingyue pointed to the kitchen, indicating that he couldn't make a decision. Ye Jiu nodded and stopped looking at him.

The store was noisy, filled with chatter, video playback, and loud phone calls. Only Ye Jiu sat quietly in her chair, occasionally swinging her legs.

The girl had fair skin, bright eyes that were fixed on her phone, a small and straight nose, and slightly closed lips. Upon closer inspection, you could even see the cupid's bow on her lips.

Su Qingyue snapped out of her thoughts. She wouldn't appear cheap just because she entered such a store. On the contrary, the store would appear cleaner and brighter because of her. As long as she sat there, the surrounding area would be a degree brighter than other places.
