The Hundred Flowers Pavilion was reduced to ashes overnight.
The next day, Liu's mother knelt on the ground and wept, all her life's work destroyed here.
The girls next to them were also crying; they were now homeless too.
Peony knelt beside her, crying, "Mother Liu, we couldn't save the girl."
"So what if they couldn't save him? They didn't save my money either!" said Liu's mother.
