"We are really destined to meet." Lan Shuang's eyes suddenly lit up, as if she saw something she loved very much. Her unguarded joy made Xin Wujiang dizzy.
He couldn't help but frown and try to sober himself up.
"Why are you here?" He turned around and raised his hand to stop Lan Shuang from approaching.
Lan Shuang stopped and said with a smile, "I moved to the Qifu Terrace. I was feeling down, so I wanted to come here to relax. I didn't expect to run into you here. Why are you here? Are you feeling down, too?"
It would have been fine if she didn't say anything, but as soon as she did, Xin Wujiang's expression became subtle.
She was really unhappy, and the culprit was right in front of her, but she was completely unaware of it.
He lowered his eyes, thinking out of sight, out of mind. "Well, I often come to the back mountain to race horses. There's a horse ranch behind here. When I get tired, I come here to rest."
"I see."
Lan Shuang didn't know. After all, the original owner hardly ever left the house and had no relevant memories at all.
"What do you think about what I told you that day?" Lan Shuang couldn't stand and sat down holding the railing.
Xin Wujiang frowned, "Are you so impatient?"
Lan Shuang: ββ¦β
She said this as if she was eager to get married.
She was about to speak when the wind blew and her throat felt a little itchy. She couldn't help coughing. She took out a handkerchief, covered her mouth with it, turned her face away and started coughing.
Soon the entire area from face to neck turned red, but there was no sign of it stopping.
Xin Wujiang: "Are you sick?"
Lan Shuang shook her head, finally calming down, and said in a hoarse voice, "No."
Xin Wujiang hesitated to speak, and finally did not ask any more questions, "I'm still thinking about it."
"Then you'd better do it as soon as possible, otherwise I will marry someone else." Lan Shuang said with a smile, but the smile was only superficial. With the red maple leaves all over the mountain behind her, she seemed inexplicably sad.
Xin Wujiang felt a little uncomfortable.
"If you're alright, I'll leave first."
He didn't want to get too entangled with Lan Shuang, so as not to fall into her trap. After all, he looked down on the treacherous minister like the National Master, and even Lan Shuang felt a bit of hatred for him.
He would instinctively feel that her motives for approaching him were impure. After all, choosing a son-in-law by himself was not a normal thing.
He was about to leave, and Lan Shuang also stood up, "Then I'll go back too."
Xin Wujiang ignored him and continued walking ahead, Lan Shuang following behind. There was only one way down the mountain, so the two of them would definitely walk part of the way together.
After walking for a while, Lan Shuang felt a little dizzy, as if the poison had not been completely eliminated. Her feet went soft and she suddenly fell straight forward.
Xin Wujiang frowned, this guy really has ulterior motives!
He turned sideways to avoid her, but saw Lan Shuang's face was as pale as paper. His heart skipped a beat and he quickly reached out to help her. Lan Shuang leaned against him weakly, "Thank you..."
Xin Wujiang saw a layer of sweat on her forehead and her body was still trembling slightly, so he couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with you?"
He didn't even notice the concern in his tone.
Lan Shuang twitched her lips, feeling weak all over, as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
"Could you please carry me back? I can't walk anymore."
Xin Wujiang didn't say anything. He looked at her for a moment with his sharp eyes. After making sure that she was not pretending, he pinched her wrist and took her pulse.
The pulse was disordered, the internal energy was running wild, and the body was in a mess.
"You're poisoned."
He frowned and looked carefully, but couldn't figure out what it was. Maybe it was some rare poison.
"Hmm..." Lan Shuang's consciousness became confused, and her eyes were blurry. Even Xin Wujiang's words seemed to be separated by a layer, with an echo and could not be heard clearly.
Seeing her like this, Xin Wujiang did not delay any longer. It was inconvenient to use his lightness skills while carrying someone on his back. He thought about it, put one hand through Lan Shuang's legs, picked her up horizontally, and jumped down the mountain.
In the backyard of the prayer platform, the maids were waiting for Lan Shuang to come back, but they saw Xin Wujiang carrying Lan Shuang into the yard. They were suddenly shocked, opened their mouths wide, looked at him in disbelief, and even forgot to greet him.
Xin Wujiang walked straight to the bedroom without looking around, put the person on the bed, and was about to get up when Lan Shuang grabbed his hand. Xin Wujiang couldn't help but gasp for air because of the cold.
"Why are your hands so cold?"
Lan Shuang looked at him dazedly, feeling weak and aggrieved: "It's so cold."
Xin Wujiang felt pity for her and raised his hand to help her take off her shoes and pulled the quilt over her, but she still murmured that she was cold.
He was a little at a loss.
Just then, the maid peeked in at the door, and he said in a sharp voice, "Come inβ"
The maids all shuddered and walked in obediently.
The leader bowed to Xin Wujiang, and seeing him sitting beside the bed like a mountain, he whispered, "General Xin, I'm afraid this is inappropriate."
Xin Wujiang pretended not to hear and asked her, "Why is she so cold? She almost fainted on the mountain. I passed by and saw her, so I brought her back."
The maid suddenly realized: "Thank you, General, the Saint..."
When the words came to her lips, she reluctantly changed her words: "I'm sick."
Xin Wujiang sneered. Are you trying to fool someone?
But he didn't expose it. This poison was so rare that it might be related to the National Master and the National Master's Mansion. This group of people would definitely not tell the truth.
"Then take good care of her and get some hot water."
"Yes, General, I will definitely report this great favor to the Imperial Master."
"No need, it's just a small favor. Don't let outsiders know about this, lest it ruin the reputation of your Saint."
Xin Wujiang glanced at them with a warning look, and the maids lowered their heads, "Yes."
Xin Wujiang let go of Lan Shuang's hand, stood up, hesitated for a moment, leaned over to tuck the corners of the quilt for Lan Shuang, looked at her deeply, and then left.
