Chapter 19 The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber—The Woman Who Sold Herself to Bury Her Father

"Take care, you two, and welcome back anytime!" Amid the vendor's enthusiastic farewell, Hua Cai walked empty-handed in front, with a bundle in one hand and a kite in the other, towards the other side of the street.

Hua Cai walked briskly ahead, her eyes darting aimlessly around.

"Xiao Cai, slow down, you're walking too fast." The system followed behind, reminding you: "As soon as you buy this stuff, it's like someone's chasing you. Running so fast, that shrewd person behind you will definitely get suspicious."

Hua Cai suddenly braked.

Carrying two bags and still moving at full speed, he must have been caught off guard and knocked Hua Cai, who had suddenly stopped, flying away.

Thud—

"ah--"

"Who's blind? How dare they bump into me?"

A shrill, piercing voice rang out, followed by several heart-wrenching screams, and the street instantly descended into chaos.

Hua Cai, who was thrown into the air, felt herself rush into a crowd and bump into several people. Despite falling to the ground, she was unharmed and quickly squeezed her way out of the crowd.

A fat, big-eared man in brocade robes struggled to his feet with the help of the crowd. The headband that held his hair up had become loose and hung down in front of his eyes due to the chaos.

The man whose view was blocked became extremely agitated and yanked his headband, wincing in pain.

The guards following behind him rushed forward to help him straighten his hairband.

The spoiled young master, exuding the air of a pampered rich kid, let others tidy him up. His gaze rose and met Hua Cai's face. Enraged, he immediately began to curse, "You ugly monster, have you eaten the heart of a bear and the gall of a leopard? How dare you bump into your grandpa—"

He was speaking when suddenly a guard tugged at his sleeve and whispered a few words in his ear.

The man's face kept changing color, turning from green to white, which made Hua Cai extremely curious.

"Stone, what did that person say?" Hua Cai decisively asked the system for gossip information.

Stone, full of energy, began the live broadcast.

“Young master, the person standing behind that woman is a guard from Green Willow Manor.”

"The current owner of Green Willow Manor is a big shot in the imperial court, and we can't afford to offend him."

The system's imitation was remarkably lifelike, with a slight tremor in its voice. From its retelling, Hua Cai clearly understood the frustration of the people who had spoken before.

"You—you—" The arrogant man's face turned blue and purple as he stammered, finally managing to utter a sentence: "Be careful, there are people and cars coming and going on this street, what if you get hurt?"

Hua Cai's expression was strange.

This fat guy is really good at talking nonsense.

However, the name of Green Willow Manor is indeed very useful.

"Sir, young lady, please save me, I beg you, save me."

Hua Cai hadn't finished her own business and had no interest in continuing to act arrogantly here over this matter. She was just thinking about whether she should take this opportunity to go home when she was stopped by a shrill female voice.

A woman dressed in mourning clothes struggled to push her way out of the crowd, desperately broke free from the hands of several guards, and knelt down in front of Hua Cai with a thud.

"Girl, please save me." The woman's delicate face bore several bruises, and as soon as she finished speaking, her face, still wet with tears, became wet again.

“Five days ago, that beast Tan Jian forcibly broke into my home and tried to tie me up and take me to the Tan mansion. I refused to submit even at the cost of my life. This bastard actually sent people to kill my father. Now, I want to sell myself to bury my father, but I never expected that this beast would—” The woman in white said, sobbing uncontrollably.

Seeing that the woman was becoming increasingly unrestrained in her speech, Tan Jian, wary of Hua Cai and the other two present, did not dare to step forward to reprimand her. Instead, he gave a wink to the two guards on the side.

"Stop spouting nonsense and slandering my young master, you little bitch."

The guards who followed him out seemed to have done similar things many times before. Seeing his signal, they immediately knew what to do and surrounded the woman to drag her back.

"Please excuse my poor appearance. This woman sold herself to bury her father. I felt sorry for her, and since it's getting hot, I wanted to help her. But this scoundrel turned around and bit me. I'm heartbroken."

With a whoosh, the young master surnamed Tan smoothly opened his folding fan, waved it slightly in front of him, and forced a smile onto his face, trying his best to look like a refined gentleman. However, his appearance was simply not up to par, making him look indescribably comical.

Behind the guards, faint muffled sounds could be heard, indicating that the woman's mouth had been gagged.

Hua Cai's gaze followed the exquisite fan up and down, then she suddenly slapped her forehead: "Oh, I remember now, no wonder this person looked so familiar?"

Tan Jian and the others were all taken aback, not understanding what she meant.

Hua Cai ignored the man and strode towards the group of guards. When she passed Tan Jian, she unconsciously moved aside slightly.

Why would someone use a fan in this freezing weather? Are you crazy?

Hua Cai passed by without the guards daring to stop her, which saved her a lot of trouble.

Reaching out, she pinched the woman's chin, turning her face, filled with hatred, towards her. Hua Cai winked at her, "I was wondering why you looked so familiar. Aren't you the one who said you'd sell me a wine recipe five days ago? You swindler, you took my money and ran away, and now you're in my hands again. If you don't write down the wine recipe you promised me, I'll break your legs."

Without waiting for the reactions of those around him, he grabbed the woman's bound arms and headed toward the teahouse not far away.

"Ugh...ugh..." The woman, still in a daze, was pulled up and led away by Hua Cai, and began to struggle.

When did I take your money?

"What are you struggling for? Trying to renege on your debt?" Hua Cai, annoyed by the woman's struggle, turned her head and glared at her fiercely. "Now, you come with me to the teahouse right now, write down that wine recipe for me, and we'll call it even. Otherwise, it's only right to pay back debts. Return the two thousand taels of silver I gave you, and I, in my great mercy, may pretend this never happened. Let's go."

Hua Cai looked furious and dragged the woman towards the teahouse. As they pulled, she subtly scratched the woman's palm with her fingertips.

The woman in mourning clothes was taken aback, and her gaze involuntarily drifted towards Hua Cai.

If this were a man, his actions would undoubtedly be considered indecent. But when it came to Hua Cai, the woman in mourning clothes suddenly remembered that blink from a moment ago and seemed to understand something instantly.

"Miss." Seeing that the duck that was about to be caught had inexplicably flown away, the man surnamed Tan was not about to give up and immediately tried to stop the two of them.

"Auntie what? I'm only eighteen years old. How can I have a nephew as old as you? What, are you going to pay for her?" Hua Cai was in a bad mood. When she saw someone blocking her way, she immediately glared at them with murderous intent.
