Chapter 35 The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber—Where Are You Going?

"Miss, the medicinal porridge you made is delicious." Si'en also brought over a medicine grinder and sat opposite Hua Cai: "If only Si'en were half as good as you, Miss."

Hua Cai smiled slightly, ignoring the expectation in her eyes, and turned to look outside: "Why aren't the medicinal herbs being processed today?"

Ever since she agreed to learn medicine from Si'en, she had come every day to sort and dry the medicinal herbs. Today, as soon as she put down the herbs, she came to help grind the medicine.

Hua Cai glanced at Si En, who looked slightly unhappy because she hadn't responded, and her gaze darkened.

Isn't this girl being a little too hasty?

Seeing that Hua Cai had asked directly, Si En reluctantly stood up: "I tasted your medicinal porridge today and found it quite novel. I forgot about it for a moment, so please forgive me."

After speaking, he remained motionless, his gaze fixed on Hua Cai, as if waiting for her to say something.

"Sigh." Hua Cai sighed, put down the medicine grinder in her hand, stood up and looked at her: "Si En, nothing can be accomplished overnight. You want to learn everything you see, but you don't understand the principle of biting off more than you can chew."

Si'en's face paled, her eyes instantly reddened, and her voice trembled with tears: "Miss, Si'en, Si'en—"

"Go back now. You don't need to help me today." Hua Cai poured the ground medicine powder into a small bottle and put it away. She looked up at Si En, who was standing there on the verge of tears. "Go back and think it over carefully. Some things can only be truly understood by yourself. And—"

Hua Cai handed her a small silk handkerchief: "Don't cry. The martial world doesn't believe in tears. Tears will only bring sympathy, pity, and contempt, not appreciation."

Si'en took the handkerchief in a daze. Seeing that Hua Cai really had no intention of paying attention to her anymore, she timidly said, "Goodbye, Miss," and was about to leave.

“Wait a minute,” Hua Cai suddenly said, “I almost forgot, you still have a key. Now that my brother is awake, it’s inconvenient if he needs to go out sometime without a key. Just leave yours here.”

Si'en stared in astonishment at Hua Cai, who hadn't even glanced at her while busy with her work. Without saying a word, she quietly placed the keys on the table and turned to leave.

The sound of the door opening and closing came from the doorway, and Hua Cai looked up at the direction of the door, a slight smile playing on her lips.

I'm not afraid of your greed, I'm just afraid of your lack of interest.

"How did you end up with such a restless person?" Zhao Qiang's voice suddenly rang out, devoid of emotion, yet enough to surprise Hua Cai.

After wiping her hands on a damp cloth, Hua Cai got up and walked to Zhao Qiang's side. Seeing that the bowl in his hand was indeed empty, she smiled and reached out to take it: "If she didn't have ambition, where would I find such a laborer?"

Hua Cai handed Zhao Qiang a bowl of water that had been prepared beforehand to rinse his mouth. Just as she was about to leave with the bowl, a gurgling sound rang out.

An eerie silence fell over the room. Hua Cai suppressed a laugh and looked at Zhao Qiang: "You've been fasting for too long. You shouldn't overeat these next two days. How about I make some snacks for you, and you can eat a few every hour?"

"No need." Zhao Qiang turned his head toward the wall next to the bed, trying to make his voice sound indifferent: "I'm not hungry."

Why bother with these little snacks? Are you trying to appease the kids?

Zhao Qiang was dissatisfied.

Glug glug—

Just in time, the song "Empty City Stratagem" played again, and wherever Hua Cai looked, Zhao Qiang's ears and neck turned bright red in the blink of an eye.

Yesterday, Hua Cai might have been quite intrigued by this, but now she can calmly glance at it and move on.

Knowing that Zhao Qiang was on the verge of exploding, Hua Cai wisely refrained from bringing up the topic of hunger again. She picked up the kettle, placed it on the bedside table, and gave him a small bottle.

“Each bottle contains ten pills, one every half hour. Keep track of the time and take your medicine on time so you get better sooner, then I won’t have to help you to the toilet every time.” Hua Cai carefully instructed, and before Zhao Qiang could explode again, she took out two embroidery needles: “These needles are coated with medicine. If anyone dares to sneak in while I’m not around, prick them. I guarantee they’ll sleep until they question their existence.”

As Hua Cai spoke, she wrapped the two needles and placed them in Zhao Qiang's hand.

"Where are you going?" Zhao Qiang keenly grasped the key point in Hua Cai's words.

The thought of being alone in this unfamiliar place made Zhao Qiang feel panicked.

“Me? Someone from the village went to town today, so I’m going to ask someone to help me bring some things back.” Hua Cai strolled up to Zhao Qiang. “The lamp is too bright, and the needle is too thick.”

Upon hearing the reason, Zhao Qiang thought to himself that explaining such a small matter shouldn't take long, and he instantly felt relieved.

Feeling that Hua Cai was still standing next to him without moving, Zhao Qiang felt that he should take a nap to recharge.

Zhao Qiang pulled up his pillow and lay down. Seeing that Hua Cai was still standing there and showed no sign of moving, he said rather awkwardly, "I didn't sleep well last night. I need to rest."

So go ahead and do your thing, don't just stand there by my bedside.

A chair was dragged on the floor. Zhao Qiang looked over and saw Hua Cai dragging a chair over, sitting down next to his bed, propping her head up with her hand on the edge of the bed, and smiling at him.

"What are you doing?" Zhao Qiang felt a chill run down his spine from the stare and unconsciously shrank back.

"What, do you want any snacks? I'll ask them to bring some back too. Don't be shy, after all, you're my brother." Hua Cai winked mischievously.

Two minutes later, Hua Cai wiped away tears of laughter, beaming with joy as she went out and headed straight for the village chief's house.

Happy times always pass quickly. At least in Hua Cai's opinion, compared to the time before in Da'an Village, life now is simply carefree and comfortable.

As she expected, after switching to pills, Zhao Qiang became exceptionally cooperative in taking the medicine. Apart from the injury on the back of his head, he had no internal injuries, and these common medicines were very effective for his external injuries.

In just three days, Zhao Qiang was able to get out of bed and walk around. He often wandered around the yard or looked at the village outside through the dense fence, and occasionally greeted the villagers who passed by.

Now everyone in Da'an Village knows that a fairy-like goddess of wealth has come to the village. She is beautiful and knows how to handle medicinal herbs. Even Zhao Qiang, who has never left the village, is now a household name in Da'an Village.

However, even after regaining his mobility, Zhao Qiang still did not leave the courtyard. As for why, he did not say, and Hua Cai did not ask. She was happy to arrange the medicinal herbs while watching him and the pillow fight for space.

Perhaps because it's the only horse here, Pillow, without anyone to fight with, seems much more docile. Every day, it patrols its territory—the yard—twice, then quietly nestles in its "kitchen" piled high with hay, enjoying a pig-like life.
