Chapter 52 The Eldest Daughter's Rebirth—Medicine Bestowed Upon Arrival

Hua Cai stared intently at the woman in the first world, surrounded by jewels and adorned with gold, unable to look away. She didn't hear a single word of what the system was saying afterward.

The experience of painstakingly "making money" in the previous mission world was still vivid in Hua Cai's mind. The realization that it was impossible to move an inch without money was etched in her heart. As soon as she saw the four big words "rich enough to rival a country" in the introduction, Hua Cai felt a sense of happiness welling up inside her.

"Stop talking, this is it, I'll take it." Hua Cai interrupted the system decisively, pointing her small hand accurately at the mission world on the panel—"Rebirth of the Eldest Daughter".

The system's voice abruptly stopped. Looking in the direction Hua Cai was pointing, the system stared at the character information with a strange expression for a long time before cautiously asking, "Boss, are you sure—you've chosen this mission?"

“I’m sure,” Hua Cai nodded firmly. With wealth beyond measure, what was there to hesitate about?

"Alright." The system shrugged helplessly. "Host, get ready. I'm about to begin the teleportation."

As the familiar darkness descended, Hua Cai calmly waited to appear on the original owner's bed and receive the plot, just like in the first world. Unexpectedly, a bright light flashed before her eyes, making her involuntarily close them.

"What, my beloved consort, do you think I handled this matter poorly?" A sinister voice rang in her ears. Hua Cai was startled and suddenly opened her eyes to look in the direction of the voice. What she saw immediately startled her.

She was not in a woman's boudoir, but in a study filled with incense. The candlelight flickered slightly in the wind, highlighting the man's cold face not far away, which added to the eerie atmosphere of the study.

Hua Cai sized up the man who spoke. He wore a purple-gold long robe embroidered with dragon patterns, his hair was tied up with a golden crown, and his eyebrows and eyes were sharp. He was handsome, but the undisguised murderous intent and hatred in his eyes ruined the beauty of his appearance, making Hua Cai know that he was no good person.

"How dare you! You are indeed a despicable scoundrel from a money-grubbing merchant. Who gave you permission to stare at me so brazenly?" Seeing that Hua Cai was staring straight at him and ignoring his question, the man in the golden crown who called himself "I" flew into a rage, grabbed a paperweight from the table, and threw it at Hua Cai.

Bang--

The paperweight slammed to the ground with a heavy thud.

Hua Cai stared at the small, visible crater on the ground, her heart pounding wildly.

Thank goodness, I almost died before I even got to settle into this body.

"You vile woman, how dare you hide!" the man with the golden crown roared. "Guards, bring the medicine!"

Medicine? What medicine?

Hua Cai was inwardly cursing this person's idiocy, for throwing things at someone without letting them dodge, when she heard herself being given medicine.

As soon as the man finished speaking, an elderly man with a fair complexion and no beard walked in carrying a tray with a delicate little bottle on it.

"Jin Baozhu, daughter of the Jin family, is vulgar and uncouth, has committed treason, disrupted the court, and caused the death of Empress Qinglian. She is hereby given a blood-dissolving powder, and the entire Jin family is to be executed and their property confiscated immediately." The man in the golden crown stared at Hua Cai's face with venomous eyes: "She is nothing but a vulgar commoner, yet she dares to compare herself to my Lian'er. Let me tell you, even without her, you still cannot be Empress, Defu—"

The man in the golden crown gestured to the newcomer.

"Please." A shrill voice rang out, and Hua Cai felt goosebumps rise all over her body from those two words. She subconsciously rubbed her arms and moved a little further away from him.

When the eunuch named Defu saw Hua Cai's appearance, a vicious glint flashed in his eyes. With a forced smile, he picked up the bottle and stepped forward, saying, "The Emperor has ordered the bestowal of the Blood-Dissolving Powder. Don't blame me for taking matters into my own hands."

Seeing the eunuch's venomous gaze, Hua Cai slowly backed away: "Baozi, system, antidote pill, quick, quick."

"Fifty points—"

"Buy, buy, buy!"

Hua Cai retreated repeatedly, roaring inwardly.

Even if it costs 100 points, I have to buy it. This blood-dissolving powder doesn't look like a good thing. If I don't buy it, I'll kick the bucket in a second.

Instantly, Hua Cai felt a sharp pain in her palm and quickly grabbed the pill that had suddenly appeared. Just as De Fu reached out his hand, she raised it to cover her mouth.

As the pill in her palm entered her mouth, Hua Cai quickly lowered her head, seemingly shrinking back, and took the opportunity to swallow the pill.

"Your Majesty's grace is boundless, you'd better drink it obediently." Defu reached out and grabbed Hua Cai's hair, pulling it upwards hard. Hua Cai cried out in pain, and just as she tilted her head back, her chin was grabbed, and a bottle of liquid was poured straight into her mouth.

Defu slammed his hand down on Hua Cai's chin, and she swallowed a bottle of medicine uncontrollably.

The burning sensation in her throat came and went quickly, indicating that the antidote had taken effect. Hua Cai felt relieved, but then a pained expression appeared on her face. She hunched over, bit her tongue hard, and drops of blood fell to the ground.

"Drag him out and throw him away. Clean this place up." The sinister-looking man in the golden crown frowned in displeasure as he looked at the bloodstains on the ground. He gave the order to the eunuch and then stormed out of the study.

Defu bowed and saw the man in the golden crown out. Then he chuckled, squatted down, and, ignoring Hua Cai who was convulsing in "pain," carefully removed all the gold hairpins from her head and stuffed them into his own bosom. Then he called out to the outside, "Someone, carry her to Qingfeng Garden and throw her away."

Hua Cai felt as if she were being carried by several people, and she staggered out of the study, walking further and further away from the main path.

"These ladies in the palace are truly beautiful but ill-fated. Yesterday they were enjoying the Emperor's favor, and today they will be thrown into the cold palace. Their fates are truly unpredictable." A shrill voice rang out, and it was clear that the speaker was trying hard to keep their voice down.

"Shh." Someone quickly spoke up: "You don't want to live anymore. Who knows if there are any secret guards around here? Even if the masters are miserable, can they be more miserable than us servants? Hey, how are you going to deal with them this time? Are you going to throw them into that well again? I really don't want to go to Qingfeng Garden. I heard there are unclean things there."

After she finished speaking, no one responded. Hua Cai clearly felt the hands that were supporting her tremble, and the group quickened their pace.

Hua Cai's eyes darted around, and after the group opened another courtyard gate, she suddenly moved her head slightly, her eyes, which glowed with a faint red light, slowly opened, looking at the group with a strange gaze, and letting out a few long, low laughs.

The hands that were holding her froze instantly, and the next second, Hua Cai was thrown heavily to the ground, her back aching from the impact.

"Ghost, ghost—" A group of eunuchs screamed all the way and ran away in a panic.

"Baozi, are you sure you can get out of the palace by climbing over this wall?" Seeing everyone had run away, Hua Cai quickly got up from the ground, ignoring the eerie surroundings, and headed straight for the wall: "Do you have a grappling hook?"

These palace walls are not places that ordinary people can leave at will, let alone the Cold Palace, where the walls are practically built to reach the sky.
