Dr. Wan did not back down; he simply met Mr. Fu's gaze calmly, hoping that Mr. Fu would consider the potential consequences.
Fu Senran's breath hitched slightly. He didn't answer, but turned and strode toward the door. Just as his fingers touched the doorknob, Dr. Wan's voice rang out again.

The bathroom lights were bright. The pregnancy test lay horizontally on the marble surface of the sink, showing two red lines. Zi Xi stared at it for a full three minutes, her fingertips unconsciously stroking her phone screen. The message Fu Senran had sent half an hour earlier was still lit up.
I have to work overtime tonight, so don't wait for me, go to sleep first.
