Chapter 18 The Love-Deprived CEO 18 (2/2)

Dr. Wan adjusted his glasses, his gentle gaze sweeping over the two of them before finally settling on Zi Xi's lower abdomen.

“Mr. Fu, you two look very well-matched.”

His smile was steady and sincere.

Fu Senran's breathing paused almost imperceptibly for a moment. He had just told Dr. Wan that he wouldn't come again, but today he brought Zixi with him.

Zi Xi turned her head to look at him and noticed that his tense jawline had finally relaxed a little.

"Thank you! I actually came today to talk about something else."

She gently held Fu Senran's hand and felt the slight sweat on his palm.

Is seeing a psychologist really that nerve-wracking?

Dr. Wan nodded, glanced calmly at Fu Senran, and then looked at Zi Xi: "What would you like to talk about? Is it about Mr. Fu?"

Fu Senran's Adam's apple bobbed, and he answered directly in a deep voice, "No."

He was afraid.

He was afraid that Dr. Wan would bring up those dark thoughts he had once revealed, and he was afraid that Zi Xi would know about his inner obsession and almost pathological possessiveness.

However, Dr. Wan simply smiled and said nothing.

There was no mention of Fu Senran's uncontrolled roar during a late-night consultation, no mention of his extreme fear of losing Miss Shen, and not even mention of the dark and gloomy words he once uttered through gritted teeth.

"You've only been married a short time, so you should spend more time with your girlfriend."

He chatted gently with Zi Xi, just like an ordinary elder.

Dr. Wan got up at the opportune moment to pour tea, giving them a moment of privacy.

Fu Senran's fingertips trembled slightly. Zi Xi squeezed his hand, then suddenly leaned close to his ear and said in a voice only he could hear, "Don't be afraid."

He was taken aback.

I know what you're afraid of.

She chuckled softly, "But I love you the most."

Fu Senran's breathing became completely disordered.

The sunlight was still gentle, and the living room was so quiet that only their breathing could be heard.

Fu Senran lowered his head, his forehead gently resting against Zi Xi's shoulder, like a wild beast finally letting down its guard, and said in a hoarse voice, "...Thank you."

What are you thanking me for?

Thank you for her tolerance, thank you for her love, thank you for seeing through all his flaws, yet still choosing to stay by his side.

"There's no need to be so polite, honey."

Zi Xi ruffled his hair, her eyes crinkling with laughter.

"Want a taste? This is a candy that Mr. Fu liked when he was a child."

Dr. Wan brought over a cookie jar filled with candy wrappers that shimmered in the sunlight, displaying a dazzling array of colors, and inside were fruit candies.

Zi Xi was surprised; she didn't know that Fu Senran liked to eat fruit candies!

Fu Senran tensed up, his ears turning bright red: "...Uncle Wan."

Let's not let Zixi know about such childish things!!

Dr. Wan has been the Fu family's private doctor since he was young, and he has watched Fu Senran grow up. Naturally, he knows that Fu Senran especially liked these colorful candies when he was a child.

Dr. Wan winked at Zi Xi: "Mr. Fu likes bright and cheerful things the most."

For example, the girl in front of me with a smile.

"It's okay, I liked them when I was little too. So we were destined to be together since childhood, we both liked these colorful candies!"

Zi Xi laughed and leaned on Fu Senran's shoulder. He stared blankly at Dr. Wan's smile, then at Zi Xi's bright and cheerful smile, and suddenly realized that his darkest corner was beginning to be illuminated by the sun.
