Chapter 194 The Ruthless Patriarch 3 (2/2)

Pei Mozhi withdrew his hand, unconcerned about her avoidance; her reaction was exactly what he had expected.

He turned slightly to the side, gesturing for her to follow.

The butler had already stepped aside, standing respectfully with his hands at his sides, and couldn't help but think to himself: This is the first woman to disrespect her husband like this.

Zhao Zixi was indeed the first person in his life who had shown him such disrespect.

Pei Mozhi looked at the woman who was gradually relaxing and found it inexplicably funny.

Zi Xi took a deep breath; the fresh air made her relax a little.

She straightened her back and followed Pei Mozhi through the carved door.

Inside the door lies another world.

The towering, dazzling dome is adorned with crystal chandeliers that resemble fallen stars, illuminating the gleaming marble floor below.

The space was so spacious that you could hear the echo of footsteps.

Huge abstract oil paintings hang on the walls, and priceless antique porcelain is displayed in the corner.

The butler led the way silently, his leather shoes making almost no sound on the carpet.

Zi Xi followed behind Pei Mozhi, feeling as if she had walked into a museum; it was all too quiet.

Finally, in front of a wide, spiraling staircase, the butler stopped and respectfully said to Pei Mozhi, "Sir, Madam's room has been arranged in the East Wing Terrace Suite and has been prepared as you instructed."

"Take your wife to the room next to mine."

Pei Mozhi gave instructions to the butler, and his gaze finally returned to Zi Xi.

Then his gaze lingered for a moment on Zi Xi's pale and taut face, and a very subtle, ambiguous smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Get some rest, Mrs. Pei."

"For the next year, this will be your cage."

His voice echoed in the empty hall, emphasizing the word "cage" with undisguised malice and a sense of asserting ownership.

He wanted to see if he could provoke her into cursing him in her mind.

Unfortunately, this highly vigilant woman remained completely silent.

How boring.

He didn't look at her again, turned around and walked straight into the corridor in another direction. His tall figure quickly disappeared behind the heavy, deep red curtains.

The butler turned to Zixi with a well-trained, respectful smile: "Madam, please come with me."

Zi Xi nodded and followed the butler.

I never expected to be placed under house arrest so soon after arriving.

Does the contract include any clause about not being allowed to leave the house?

I'm not sure, I'll look at it again later.

Finally, the butler stopped in front of a dark wooden door carved with intricate patterns and gently pushed it open.

"Madam, this is your room."

The room was huge, ridiculously huge.

Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the Pei Garden landscape, still faintly discernible under the cover of night, stretched as far as the eye could see, a pitch-black expanse.

The room was furnished with all the luxury items imaginable, and the dressing table was adorned with a complete set of top-of-the-line skincare products. The walk-in closet was filled with the latest seasonal dresses, and everything looked flawless.

The butler quietly slipped out and gently closed the door.

The heavy door slammed shut with a dull thud, completely isolating the outside world.

She was finally all alone in the room.

But Zi Xi knew that there were definitely surveillance cameras inside the house.

So Zixi didn't turn on the lights, but slowly walked to the huge French windows.

Her blurry reflection was shown in the glass, a shadow of a woman in a floral dress.

She raised her hand, her icy fingertips touching the glass.

Why can't Pei Mozhi hear her thoughts?

Pei Mozhi was also thinking about this issue.

Why he couldn't hear that woman's true feelings was something that really mattered to him.
