Chapter 274 The Obsessive Painter 4 Jin Ye simply pulled up a chair and sat down a short distance away to continue observing her.
His gaze fell on the pulse in her neck.
The skin there is the thinnest, and you can see the pulse of life.
A series of strange thoughts followed.
If that pulsation stops, he seems to lose his only inspiration at the moment.
He stood up and began pacing around the studio, deliberately keeping his steps light.
The creatures in the glass cases seemed to sense the unusual atmosphere as well, becoming quieter than usual.
When the clock struck four in the afternoon, Zi Xi stirred slightly and slowly opened her eyes.
She looked confused and vulnerable the moment she woke up, but when she saw Jin Ye, she immediately regained her usual calm.
She sat up, pointed apologetically at her watch, and mouthed an apology.
"Look at your dark circles, you really need to rest."
Jin Ye simply shrugged.
Such words of concern sounded so unnatural coming from his mouth that even he was taken aback.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
The butler brought over an elegant lunchbox containing freshly cut fruit and a small box of macarons that looked very expensive.
"You're hungry, eat."
Jin Ye awkwardly handed the box to Zi Xi.
Zi Weiwei opened her eyes wide in surprise, then gave a sincere smile and mouthed "thank you."
She also wrote on the tablet: "Thank you so much, you're so thoughtful."
"You're just replenishing your energy; you still need to continue working."
Jin Ye turned his head away, pretending to tidy up his paintbrushes.
Zi Xi ate the fruit in small bites, without any hesitation.
As she picked up a pink macaron, she noticed Jin Ye watching her, so she handed the box to him and asked him with her eyes if he wanted one.
Jin Ye paused for a moment, then unexpectedly picked up a black macaron.
He never eats sweets, believing that they would affect his intelligence.
But today the sweetness doesn't seem so unpleasant.
When Zi Xi finished eating and was about to leave, she stopped at the door and turned to face Jin Ye.
They're lonely; don't keep them locked up all the time.
She pointed to the reptile cabinet in the corner and then wrote on the tablet.
Before Jin Ye could respond, she nodded gently in farewell and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
Jin Ye stood at the door for a long time before walking towards the reptile display case. The blue venomous snake raised its head and met his gaze.
Are you lonely?
He muttered to himself, his fingers unconsciously tracing the metal clasp that locked the cabinet.
*
Jin Ye stood in front of the new canvas, his gaze shifting back and forth between Zi Xi and the canvas, his eyes stubborn.
He had kept her in this position for nearly three hours, lying flat on the deep red velvet sofa, one arm hanging down, fingertips almost touching the ground.
"Don't move, I'm about to capture my inspiration."
He said it for the thirteenth time without ever getting tired.
Zi Xi's eyelashes trembled slightly, but her body remained still.
After an unknown amount of time, Zi Xi's breathing gradually became deep and steady.
Jin Ye was about to order her to adjust the angle slightly when he looked up and froze.
As she slept, Zi Xi curled up slightly, her face unconsciously rubbing against the velvet sofa.
He put down his paintbrush, approached silently, and stood beside the sofa, looking down at her sleeping face.
Jin Ye carefully lay down on the edge of the sofa.
The sofa wasn't spacious, so he could only lean against it, his left side pressed against the back of the sofa, while his right side was almost touching Zi Xi.
He could feel the faint warmth emanating from her body and smell the delicate scent of gardenias in her hair; this intimacy inexplicably captivated him.
Jin Ye couldn't take his eyes off her face.
