Zi Xi spoke each word clearly and deliberately.
Lu Ran's pupils contracted sharply, and his lips moved as if he wanted to deny it.
But under Zi Xi's clear gaze, all his pretense was exposed.
"No, I said no, understand?"
"If you don't listen to me..."
Zi Xi gave him no chance to escape, raising her voice slightly, carrying an undeniable threat.
These words successfully threatened Lu Ran.
His agitated heart miraculously calmed down little by little under this unreasonable prohibition.
"Then tell me... what should we do now?"
"I haven't even let you have a few years of good life yet..."
"I can do whatever I want in these few decades, but I can't let you suffer any more."
After a long while, Lu Ran seemed to have exhausted all his strength and spoke with a hoarse voice.
There was a barely perceptible sob in his voice.
Hearing his words, Zi Xi finally felt half of the weight lifted from her heart.
She released her hands from his face, turned around, and took out several pages of paper filled with writing and several newspaper clippings from a cloth bag she had brought with her.
"A head-on confrontation, using your 'fight to the death' approach, is the stupidest thing you can do, and it plays right into their hands."
"We can't win this battle by brute force alone; we need to use our brains,"
She spread the documents on the table, her eyes regaining their usual calm and wisdom.
“I’ve checked. That collective factory has outdated equipment, chaotic management, and low efficiency. It’s only keeping going because of past connections and preferential policies.”
"They were able to poach our people with high salaries only temporarily, but they couldn't retain them. Moreover, their finances are not clean and there are many loopholes."
She analyzed her opponent's weaknesses in a clear and logical manner.
"As for orders, if the route through farms in neighboring cities is not feasible for the time being, we can look further ahead."
"I noticed that the province has recently been focusing on supporting agricultural development in several impoverished counties, with special loans and technical support policies in place."
“We can proactively contact those places; our products offer high cost-performance, which perfectly meets their needs.”
"That's called finding a new path."
She pulled out a map and several policy documents.
"In addition, it is precisely at times like these that we must stabilize the morale of the factory workers."
"We'll hold a factory-wide meeting first thing tomorrow morning and tell everyone the situation frankly."
"We should not hide our difficulties, but we should also clearly explain our strengths and future plans."
"We will remember those who are willing to weather the storm together, and we will part amicably with those who really have to leave. Uniting the majority is more important than anything else."
She looked at Lu Ran with unwavering eyes.
Lu Ran stared blankly at the few pages of the plan on the table, which embodied his wife's hard work, and then looked at the slender woman in front of him.
My wife is really amazing, unlike him, who almost couldn't handle anything that happened.
He just spilled the milk his wife poured on the floor. Will his wife be angry?
Lu Ran could no longer control himself. He suddenly stood up, stretched out his arms, and hugged Zi Xi tightly.
"Honey, I'm sorry, I spilled the milk you poured for me... Will you be mad at me? I'm really not usually such a violent person."
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his body trembling slightly, his eyes moist, unable to utter a single word.
"Okay, okay, don't cry. You can sweep up the crumbs on the ground later."
"Then you mustn't waste things like that next time. It's a bad influence if others see it, you know?"
Zi Xi hugged him back and gently patted his back, as if comforting a big child who had suffered a lot of grievances and finally returned home.
"I understand, I will never do it again."
Lu Ran sniffed.
