"Have something to eat first, I bought you a cake."
"Where's the game console?"
Bai Zihao's smile froze on his face, his gaze shifting back and forth between her empty hands and the meager little cake.
"You promised yesterday, and I've already made plans with my classmates to hang out this weekend!!"
"Bai Zihao, can't you be a little more sensible? I got fired from my job today! Game consoles are so expensive, why didn't you ask our parents for money to buy them?! You're just trying to leech off me!!"
Bai Qianqian took a deep breath, her nails digging into her palm as she roared.
The air froze instantly. Bai Zihao's expression shifted from shock to disbelief, and finally to a wounded anger.
"If you don't have money, you can just say so! Why did you lie to me?!"
"Are you venting your frustrations on me because you got fired?!"
"What did you do wrong? Getting fired is your problem, but why did you return the things you promised to buy for me?!"
"What am I supposed to do? I've already made a promise to my classmate, and now you're making me a person who breaks their word!!!"
His voice suddenly rose as he paced restlessly back and forth in the room.
"You said I told you to be a person who breaks their word, so why did you tell people you wanted to play together before you even got anything?!"
"Shouldn't you be studying at your age? All you do is play games all day, and you have the nerve to say you want to go to university?! I bet you'll only be roasting sweet potatoes on the street someday! Or maybe you won't even get to roast sweet potatoes!"
Bai Qianqian also raised her voice, finally finding an outlet for the emotions she had suppressed all day, and began to harshly and aggressively belittle the teenage boy in front of her.
