For the next half hour, the archaeology department witnessed the most surreal scene in its 300-year history.
"This is a Neolithic stone mill... Do you know what it was used for?"
Professor Li retrieved a new image.
"It's used for grinding wheat! The speed can't exceed 15 revolutions per minute, otherwise the flour will taste bitter!"
Zi Xi's eyes lit up. The interstellar world wasn't so hopeless after all. There were still quite a few things from ancient times.
"And this...this set? It is..."
Professor Li staggered.
"These are bronze artifacts! The ding can be used to cook meat! That three-legged one is called li, it's for cooking porridge! And the one with handles next to it is yan, a wonderful tool for steaming rice!"
Zi Xi has already started answering.
"This substance has been tested and found to be..."
Professor Li weakly opened the carbonized sample.
"This is bread from ancient times! Moreover, the second fermentation was overdone, and the yeast ratio was incorrect, so the sample burned!"
Zi Xi was resolute.
"This is the sealing mud from the Sichuan pickle jars of ancient China! It was made with Sichuan pepper leaves and well salt!"
When Zi Xi pointed to a black lump and loudly declared what it was, Professor Li finally trembled as he took off his glasses and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with the hem of his shirt.
"You... you've previewed the archaeology coursework???"
His voice was so ethereal it sounded like a ghost's; she'd already learned to answer before him, so what else could he possibly teach her?
"Well... I've never been used to taking nutritional supplements since I was a child, so I've always been fascinated by the ancient times and have read a lot about them."
Zi Xi scratched her head, a little embarrassed.
The classroom fell into dead silence.
"Archaeology Department, it's good that you came in."
Professor Li slowly squatted down, his eyes reddening as he grasped Zi Xi's hand. With such a genius in the department, their archaeology department would never be abolished!
"I also think I made the right choice coming to the archaeology department!"
Zi Xi's face was serious, but inside she was laughing to herself. With so few classes, she definitely made the right choice coming here!
After school, Zixi hummed a little tune as she pushed open the door to her home, feeling so happy she wanted to spin around on the spot.
Archaeology! She really made the right choice!
When she looked up, the scene in the living room made her expression instantly serious.
Mrs. Luo and Luo Sheng sat upright on the sofa, as if they had been waiting for her to return, their expressions as serious as if they were holding an interstellar federal council meeting.
Luo Ming stood behind her, arms crossed, his gaze scanning her up and down like a scanner.
Grandpa sat in an armchair, his eyes narrowed to slits, while Grandma... Grandma even held a whiteboard in her hand, the screen covered with dense words.
The trial was a three-way hearing, the highest level of one, with the whole family present.
Zi Xi swallowed hard, her brain racing.
They probably want to know the address where she transplanted the jasmine flowers, right?
Or do you know she's enjoying a life of luxury outside?
Could it be... that they want to ask about Apple?
"What's the deal with Helan Yuan?"
Luo Sheng went straight to the point and asked the question as soon as he arrived.
Although he had heard it from his wife and son, Luo Sheng still wanted to hear Zi Xi say it to him in person.
"……ah?"
Zi Xi didn't understand why she was being asked this.
"How did you end up running into people from the First Legion?"
"What did you promise us before you left? You promised you would never put yourself in danger!"
Luo Sheng narrowed his eyes. The First Legion must be clearing out the beast horde, so his daughter went to find the beasts?
After being adopted as a kitten, their daughter kept asking for monster meat. They thought she was too young and were afraid she would mess around with the monster meat.
My daughter kept insisting it was a pre-school trip and that we wouldn't go anywhere dangerous, but despite all my precautions, I still trusted this little liar too much!
"At the beach, could we have accidentally encountered such a strange beast?"
Grandma suddenly interrupted, a glint of light flashing in her reading glasses as she activated her bracelet to project an image of the king crab.
"No! Grandma! I didn't encounter any strange beasts. When I got there, I just saw Helan working, so I went up and took a sniff!"
Zi Xi almost choked on her own saliva. A guilty look flashed in her eyes, but she argued her case to avoid putting herself in danger.
