It is deep-seated anger.
He was an existence that no one dared to provoke in the Dark Abyss; even the instructors harbored a subtle sense of apprehension towards him.
Rumor has it that his background is unfathomable, and that he was sent in by his family to be tempered.
But after he came in, he turned this place into a hunting ground where he could vent his anger.
Shen Li walked step by step, his boots making a soft but chilling sound as they pounded on the muddy ground.
The crowds dispersed automatically as he passed by, everyone lowered their heads, not daring to meet his gaze, and even their breathing became soft.
Shen Li didn't even glance at the boy he had kicked away; his gaze landed precisely on Zi Xi, who was still slumped on the ground.
Zi Xi was so frightened that her whole body stiffened, and she even forgot to cry.
She had seen this person from afar.
Every time she saw him, the people around her would become very scared, and she instinctively felt fear as well.
Shen Li squatted down in front of her.
As they got closer, Zi Xi could see his face more clearly; he was quite handsome.
He still smelled faintly of blood, not from the boy earlier, but from something he had picked up long before.
Shen Li reached out, not to hit her, but to gently touch her scalp, which was now red and swollen from being pulled.
Her fingertips were icy cold, which made Zi Xi shiver again.
Does it hurt?
He asked in a low, hoarse voice.
Zi Xi stared at him blankly, forgetting to react.
His stern gaze shifted downwards, landing on the pocket she was still clutching tightly.
He easily reached out and pried open her weak fingers, pulling out the hard half of the steamed bun.
Looking at the half-eaten steamed bun, his eyes flickered with an extremely subtle change for a moment.
In this hell of depravity, how could anyone hide such inedible food?
Shen Li looked at Zi Xi.
The little creature's eyes were large, and because they were filled with tears, they appeared exceptionally clear, like glass washed by rain.
There was only primal bewilderment and a trace of ignorant fear of his dangerous existence.
That look in his eyes is so pure.
It was so clean that it stood out starkly against the filthy abyss.
A protective instinct he had never felt before quietly began to grow in Chen Li's heart.
Just when everyone thought that Shen Li would get rid of this annoying little fool as easily as crushing an ant.
This jinx did something that left everyone secretly observing speechless.
He stuffed the half-eaten bun back into Zi Xi's cold hand.
Then he stood up and slowly scanned every peeping figure around him.
Everyone who met his crazed gaze immediately lowered their head as if burned.
"Her life belongs to me."
The deep, harsh voice wasn't loud, but it clearly carried throughout the entire corner.
"Whoever touches it dies."
He paused, a cold smile curving his lips.
After speaking, Shen Li didn't even glance at Zi Xi again, as if the strange occurrence of that moment had never happened.
He turned and disappeared into the deeper shadows of the camp, as abruptly as he had arrived.
A group of stunned prisoners, each with their own thoughts, were left behind.
Zi Xi remained sitting on the ground, clutching the half of the steamed bun she had lost and found tightly in her hand.
She didn't understand what had just happened, why that terrible person hadn't hurt her, but instead helped her.
All he could see were the originally malicious gazes around him, which had now turned into fear and apprehension.
No one dared to approach her anymore.
