After Chen Yao finished the operation today, she felt inexplicably tired. It might be because she ate too much breakfast and went to work without lunch, or it might be because she didn't get enough rest last night.
After she returned to the lounge, she found a piece of bread, slumped in the chair, opened the package and started to take small bites.
This scene happened to be seen by Gu Ci who was pushing a wheelchair to find her. He took out his mobile phone and silently ordered some food, thinking that he would give it to her when the food arrived. He couldn't bear to see her eat dry and tasteless bread.
After ordering, he saw that there was no one else in the lounge. After thinking for a moment, he reached out and knocked on the door.
Chen Yao lazily raised her eyes and looked towards the door. Seeing that it was Gu Ci, she was a little surprised, "Why are you here?"
Gu Ci pushed the wheelchair in and said softly, "I heard from the nurse that he passed by the corridor and saw you had just finished the operation. I waited for you in the ward for a while, but you didn't come over, so I came to check on you."
In fact, he asked the nurse to help check it out, not that the nurse happened to pass by.
For some reason, today, after listening to what grandma and the others said, his heart started beating fast and he wanted to see her as soon as possible.
Now that he saw her, he felt more at ease, as if, as long as he really saw her, the situation that grandma described would never happen.
Seeing that he wasn't as cheerful as usual, Chen Yao explained, "I had surgery today... I was a little tired, so I didn't go."
Gu Ci: "I know, that's why I came here."
Chen Yao smiled, opened the water cup, took a few sips, and after relieving the dryness in her throat, she beckoned him to come closer.
Gu Ci pushed the wheelchair closer to her and said, "I ordered some food for you, it will be delivered soon. If the bread in your hand doesn't taste good, don't eat it. Don't force yourself."
Apart from feeling that it was a little dry and hard, Chen Yao didn't mind anything else, so she shook her head and said, "I'll finish it, it's okay."
Gu Ci pursed his lips, wanting to say something, but stopped.
Chen Yao raised her eyebrows, pretending not to see anything, and ate up the remaining bread in her hand in a few bites.
Gu Ci saw that she was really hungry and asked with concern: "Didn't you have lunch?"
Sure enough, Chen Yao nodded and said, "If you're not hungry, then you won't eat."
Gu Ci really felt that her job was very hard. Performing an operation basically required her to stand for several hours in a row and concentrate on the work without making any mistakes.
No wonder, the thing she looks forward to most every day is going home to have a good rest and refresh herself after get off work.
Thinking of this, Gu Ci suddenly felt that he was quite immature. It was obvious that she should be discharged from the hospital, but he still stayed here and frequently occupied her rest time.
He will be discharged from the hospital after the plaster is removed.
After Chen Yao finished eating, he wiped his mouth and thought about Gu Ci's family coming to see him today, so he asked casually: "Have your family members gone home yet?"
Gu Ci: "Well, I went back more than half an hour ago. Before she left, my grandma kept asking me about you and asked me when she would bring you home for dinner."
Chen Yao raised her eyebrows and said, "It depends on your performance."
Gu Ci felt a little more relaxed and said, "I will do my best."
Chen Yao glanced at his still injured leg and teased: “Oh, how are you going to behave?”
Gu Ci's face inexplicably turned red: "Just... behave well."
Chen Yao raised her eyebrows and said nonchalantly, "It's all empty talk. Are you just making empty promises to me, Brother Gu Ci?"
Gu Ci's heart tightened, and the feeling of anxiety and fear came up again unconsciously.
He pursed his lips and held Chen Yao's hand a little nervously, then thought that someone might suddenly come here, unlike the hidden corner before.
Fearing that it might have some negative impact on Chen Yao, he quickly let go of her hand.
"I promise, I will perform well and make you happy every day." Gu Ci promised seriously.
Chen Yao looked at her palm which had suddenly become empty, and for some reason, she was stunned for a moment.
At this time, Gu Ci was already thinking about how to tell his brother that he wanted to take over the management of the hospital.
He wanted to have more contact with Shen Yao and make her feel as relaxed as possible.
The two of them were lost in thought for a long time when someone suddenly came into the lounge.
When Li Yan came in, he was surprised to see Gu Ci in a wheelchair: "Mr. Gu, why are you here? Is there something you want to ask Dr. Shen?"
He didn't know that Chen Yao and Gu Ci were in a relationship, so he simply thought that Gu Ci wanted to ask Chen Yao something related to his illness.
As one of his attending physicians, he also has the responsibility to answer his questions.
But Gu Ci just lowered his eyes and said, "It's okay, I've finished asking questions. Then Doctor Shen, Doctor Li, I'll go back to the ward now."
Without waiting for Chen Yao and Li Yan's reply, he pushed his wheelchair out of the lounge.
Chen Yao looked at his back as he left. Somehow, she felt that something was wrong with him today, and he was different from usual.
But she was indeed tired today and didn't have the energy to think about so many things. After thinking about it, she decided to wait until she got off work to go see him.
…
After Gu Ci returned to the ward, he picked up his phone absentmindedly and sent a WeChat message to his brother.
Gu Ci: Brother, didn't you ask me before where I'd like to start learning management? Now I'm clear on where to start. I'll start with this hospital where I'm currently working.
