When Chen Yao went downstairs, Grandma Chi and Chi Ye had already talked about other topics. When they saw her coming down, they both stopped talking and looked at her.
"Grandma, I'm sorry to have made you wait for me." Chen Yao said.
Grandma Chi didn't mind waiting for such a while. She just smiled and greeted her warmly: "It's okay. I specially asked Aunt Fang to make some extra dishes today. I don't know what you like to eat, but these are basically Aunt Fang's best home-cooked dishes. Come and sit down and eat with us."
Chen Yao smiled and said "OK", then walked over to sit next to Grandma Chi.
The dining table was square in layout. Chi Ye sat on the other side of Grandma Chi, facing Shen Yao. As long as he looked up, he could meet her gaze.
"Just take whatever you like. Don't be polite. There are only three of us. There's more than enough food on this table." Grandma Chi said with a smile.
"Thank you, grandma." Chen Yao picked up the chopsticks only after Grandma Chi started eating.
"Aye, you eat too." Grandma Chi did not forget her eldest grandson.
"Okay." Chi Ye responded.
Today, the B&B is unusually lively than usual. Grandma Chi is in a good mood and talks more than usual.
She first asked about Chi Ye's school and holidays, and then asked him how many days he planned to stay here during the holiday, and if possible, to stay here for a few more days.
Chi Ye pondered for a while before replying, "I can probably stay for half a month. I have other things to do after that."
Grandma Chi nodded, then asked Chen Yao: "Is the food to your liking? These dishes are a bit light."
Chen Yao smiled and said, "They are all delicious."
Grandma Chi smiled and said, "That's good. Oh, by the way, did you ask me about the food supply at the B&B on the phone before?"
Chen Yao paused, as if this was indeed the case, "Yes."
Grandma Chi continued, "At the time, I told you that you needed to take care of it yourself, but I thought about it today. This place is quite far from town, and it's really not easy to find food if you're not staying here for a short time. So, if you think the food is to your liking, it's not impossible to have three meals a day at the B&B."
Chen Yao: "Okay, then I will order three meals a day from you later, and I will transfer the money to you."
Grandma Chi smiled and said, "You're such an honest child. But you don't have to pay for it. I'll provide it for free. It's just an extra pair of chopsticks."
What's more, Chen Yao didn't even eat half as much as Chi Ye, so it could only be half a pair of chopsticks at most, Grandma Chi thought.
After that, they talked about the purpose of Chen Yao staying here for a month.
"A friend recommended that the scenery here is very good. It is quiet and less crowded, which is very suitable for field trips. Then I thought about coming here to give it a try." Chen Yao said.
Grandma Chi understood and told her, "If you're here to collect folk songs, the lake view here is pretty good. Just walk a short distance along the road outside and you'll be there."
Chen Yao: "Okay, I'll go over and take a look later."
......
After dinner, Aunt Fang was in charge of cleaning up, Grandma Chi went out to chat with some neighbors nearby, and Chen Yao and Chi Ye went upstairs respectively.
After returning to the room, Chen Yao felt a little bored, so she set up her drawing board and sorted out her painting supplies to see if she could calm down and draw something.
After a while, her phone lit up. Someone had sent her a WeChat message.
【Lu Zhiwei: Sister, have you arrived yet? 】
[Lu Zhiwei: I forgot to tell you before, the night view over there is very nice. If you are interested, you can go out for a walk at night.]
[Lu Zhiwei: However, for safety reasons, it's best not to go alone. Find someone to go with you.]
night view?
Chen Yao became interested. After replying to Lu Zhiwei's message, she stood up and walked to the window, opened the curtains and looked outside.
From her perspective, she was looking right at the nearby lake.
The moonlight at this time was just right, shining on the dark lake surface, causing ripples to sparkle.
There are many fences around the lake, and many small pale yellow lights are placed on the fences, strung together to form a continuous light path that extends into the distance.
......
When Chen Yao walked to the first floor, she happened to meet Chi Ye, who was about to go upstairs with half-wet hair after taking a shower. He was holding a box of yogurt in his hand, which looked like he had just taken it out of the refrigerator downstairs.
Chen Yao nodded to him politely as a greeting and walked past him.
But Chi Ye suddenly stopped her, "Are you going out?"
Chen Yao turned around and replied: "Well, I'm going out for a walk."
Chi Ye asked: "Alone?"
Chen Yao paused and thought, it can’t be considered as such. Strictly speaking, it is actually a one-man show.
But, she could only nod.
Chi Ye squeezed the yogurt in his hand and reminded: "It's so late, you're new here and you're not familiar with it. If you go out alone... it's not safe."
Chen Yao pretended to be stupid: "Well, I know, so I will come back as soon as possible."
Chi Ye: “Forget it.”
Chen Yao: "Okay, I'll be leaving first. Bye."
Chi Ye: "I mean, forget it, I'll go with you."
Then he explained to himself, "Otherwise, if you fall somewhere and no one sees you, I won't be able to explain to grandma."
Chen Yao: "Okay, thank you for your help."
Chi Ye hummed uncomfortably, then suddenly asked her: "Do you want yogurt? There's some in the refrigerator."
