Chapter 1 The Stiff and Old-Fashioned Young Lady

A cruise ship was sailing smoothly on the sea.

On the deck, young men and women dressed in suits and dresses gathered together and chatted.

"Chong'an, Wu Yue, you two are both from Haicheng, have you known each other before?"

Before Xiao Chong'an could speak, the woman in the blue dress next to him laughed and said sweetly, "You're joking. How could I possibly know the second young master of the Xiao family in Haicheng?"

Looking at her mischievous expression, Xiao Chong'an smiled helplessly: "Don't tease me. In the Xiao family of Haicheng, my father and my eldest brother are the most famous. How many people know me, the second young master?"

“I knew it. And I also know that you have a fiancée you were engaged to when you were young.”

"Really? Chong'an, why didn't you tell us? We always thought you and Wu Yue were a couple."

Faced with the strange looks from those around him, Xiao Chong'an inevitably felt a little resentful towards his fiancée whom he had never met, and also towards his father. Why did he insist on making him marry a young lady from a fallen family?

He clearly prefers modern women who are unconventional and unpretentious, rather than traditional ladies from respectable families. If it's about fulfilling a promise made by the previous generation, then the eldest brother would be more suitable.

Wu Yue glanced at his expression, smiling but saying nothing.

The cruise ship docked at Haicheng Port, and Xiao Chong'an immediately spotted the people sent by his family.

"Second Young Master, you've finally arrived. The car is waiting."

"Wu Yue, where do you live? I'll take you home first."

"Thank you, Chong'an."

The servant behind them glanced at the two of them, who seemed reluctant to part, and his eyes flashed.

When Xiao Chong'an returned home, his family had been waiting at the dinner table for a long time. At the head of the table sat his father, Xiao Huayu, followed by his wife and Xiao Chongye.

Upon seeing him, Madam Xiao immediately stood up from her seat and hugged him tightly: "My son, you're finally back."

He patted her back reassuringly, took off his coat, and sat down at the lower end of the table.

"Father, elder brother."

Xiao Chongye glanced at him and suddenly said, "Chong'an, go visit the Yun family this afternoon. Yun Qing has waited for you for so many years, it's time for you to take responsibility."

"Brother, can I not go?" Xiao Chong'an didn't want to go at all. His main purpose in coming back this time was to cancel the engagement.

"Of course not." Xiao Chongye's face darkened immediately when he heard that he didn't want to go. "Why not? Give me a reason."

Xiao Chong'an was most afraid of his elder brother's stern appearance, but marriage was a major event that concerned his happiness for the rest of his life, so even though he was afraid, he still had to speak up.

"Brother, I've never even met Miss Yun. How can I marry her? The practice of arranged marriages is no longer in fashion."

"It doesn't matter if you haven't met her yet. Didn't I tell you to go see the Yun family and meet her today? Don't worry, Miss Yun is well-educated and reasonable, and she is the perfect wife candidate. Once you meet her, you will definitely like her."

Xiao Hua and his wife nodded in agreement, echoing their eldest son's words.

"Yes, Miss Yun is truly a goddess. If your grandfather hadn't had a past relationship with Master Yun, you wouldn't have had this good fortune."

Thinking of Yun Qing's appearance, Madam Xiao couldn't wait to hold her grandson. She wondered how good-looking their child would be.

Xiao Hua was much more direct, saying with a stern face, "Chong An, did you study abroad and want to adopt the mannerisms of those intellectuals, pursuing some kind of free love?"
