Chapter 3 The Stiff and Old-Fashioned Young Lady

At this moment, Yun Qing is sitting on the swing in the courtyard.

The servant was mimicking Xiao Chong'an's expressions and movements perfectly, making Yun Qing laugh heartily.

That radiant smile caught Xiao Chongye's eye, leaving him frozen in place, motionless for a long time.

Suddenly, the swing beneath Yun Qing loosened slightly.

"Watch out!" He used all his strength to rush over and cushion the fall with his own body.

"ah!"

"Miss!"

"hiss!"

Amidst the chaos and commotion, Yun Qing fell onto Xiao Chongye. Fortunately, he cushioned her fall; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

After the maids and servants around them calmed down, they quickly helped the two of them up.

After this embarrassing incident, Yun Qing's cheeks flushed slightly. She had always prided herself on being polite, but she never expected to make such a fool of herself today.

An awkward atmosphere filled the air, and finally, Xiao Chongye spoke first.

"Yunqing, are you alright? I'll have someone ask Su to invite a doctor from Huichuntang to take a look at you."

"No need, no need, I'm fine. But you, I hope I didn't hurt you?"

"No, no." Xiao Chongye lowered his head embarrassedly and quickly waved his hand. "You're as light as a leaf, how could you hurt me?"

The two sat in the courtyard to rest for a while before Yunqing remembered to ask him, "Why did you suddenly come today?"

She was a very rule-abiding person, but Xiao Chongye was not afraid of the trouble and would often send a visiting card to see her and her father.

Xiao Chongye scratched his head sheepishly.

“I asked my second brother to come over this morning, but I didn’t expect him to upset you, so I rushed over to see you and apologize.”

Hearing him say that, Yun Qing's smile gradually faded.

“Brother Xiao, if you’re here to act as a mediator, then forget it. My business with him isn’t as simple as you think.”

"No, no," Xiao Chongye said anxiously as he saw her face darken.

"I'm not here to mediate for him. Actually, it's my fault. I didn't explain things clearly before letting him come to visit you. My brother has always been a reckless person, and after spending three years abroad, he's long forgotten manners. I'm here to apologize for myself, and I hope Miss Yun will forgive me."

Xiao Chongye looked pitiful at this moment, his eyes drooping, as if the sky would fall if Yun Qing didn't forgive him.

"Pfft—" Yun Qing couldn't help but laugh out loud, "You, the dignified head of the Xiao family and the president of the Haicheng Chamber of Commerce, are acting like a scoundrel?"

"So what if I'm the head of the Xiao family? When Miss Yun gets angry, the entire Haicheng will tremble."

The two bantered and joked, and the afternoon passed quickly.

Xiao Chong'an, however, grew angrier the more he thought about it at home, so he went out to find someone to play with.

"Wu Yue?"

Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped outside, he ran into someone he knew on the street.

The woman in the Western-style dress turned around; it was Wu Yue.

Upon seeing Xiao Chong'an, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, and a bright smile instantly appeared on her face.

"Xiao Chong'an! What are you doing here? Aren't you with your family?"

"I was bored at home, so I came out for a walk."

Not wanting to tell anyone about his setback at the Yun family's house that morning, Xiao Chong'an touched his nose awkwardly to cover up his actions and changed the subject.

"Don't talk about me like that. Aren't you out there too? You've come at the right time. Let's go for a walk together and see how Haicheng has changed in recent years."

"Okay, as long as you don't find me annoying."
