Unexpectedly, Yun Qing burst into tears after hearing Yun Wanyan's words.
"You silly child, I'm just asking, why are you crying? If you don't want to tell me, that's fine, I don't necessarily need to know."
"No, it's not that I didn't want to tell you." Yun Qing wiped away her tears with her chubby little hands and choked out, "I'm sorry, Master, I lied to everyone."
Yun Wanyan was completely confused. How did the topic turn to something she couldn't understand?
But Yunqing was crying so hard that she couldn't sit still. She walked over, squatted down, and wiped away her tears: "Don't cry, you're all covered in tears. Tell me what's wrong, I won't blame you."
"Hiccup—" Yun Qing hiccuped, stopping her tears: "Are you telling the truth? You really don't blame me?"
Seeing her eyes darting around, Yun Wanyan knew exactly what she was thinking and said irritably, "Would I lie to you?"
Upon hearing this, Yun Qing opened her big, watery eyes and instantly burst into laughter through her tears.
He happily hugged Yun Wanyan and said, "Thank you, Master."
Yun Wanyan had never been so close to a child before, and her body stiffened for a moment, but she found that she did not reject this feeling.
For a moment, the hall was filled with warmth and affection. Yun Qing told Yun Wanyan in detail about how she had concealed her true identity and pretended to be the descendant of the Gu family steward. Of course, she did not reveal a single word about things that should not be said for the time being.
However, the harmonious atmosphere inside the hall was soon broken.
A disciple came to report: "Uncle-Master Yun, True Person Xuanming summons you and Junior Sister Yun Qing to the main hall."
The main hall of Yuntian Sect refers to the palace in front of the three main peaks. Because it covers a large area and has a wide view, important matters are discussed here.
Yun Wanyan thought something had happened to a new disciple, so she grabbed Yun Qing and insisted on going there immediately.
Yunqing stopped her: "Master, this matter is probably related to me. Please give me the kinship certificate first."
Although Yun Wanyan didn't understand, she still did as she was told.
Behind the main hall of Ziyun Peak was a huge warehouse. In a short while, Yun Wanyan came out with the kinship certificate.
"Here you go." Yun Qing nodded and took it, then casually put it into her storage bag.
When the two arrived at the main hall hand in hand, it was packed with people and noisy. All the disciples of Yuntian Sect and those who came to register today were there, with Xuanming, Gu Changyuan, Yun Hezhi and others standing in the middle.
The disciple who had informed the two walked ahead and reported to Xuanming: "Uncle-Master Xuanming, Uncle-Master Yun and the others have arrived."
Upon hearing this, the hall fell silent instantly.
Liu Ruyan and Yun Helan craned their necks to look towards the door. When they saw Yun Wanyan leading Yun Qing in, both of their faces stiffened, revealing a hint of jealousy. One of them looked faintly disappointed, while the other was filled with resentment.
After Yun Wanyan stopped, she looked at Xuanming and asked, "Senior Brother, what brings you and Yun Qing here?"
“That’s how it is.” Xuanming turned to the side and pointed at Liu Ruyan: “This lady says she is Yun Qing’s mother and has come to find her to go home.”
These words were like a drop of water splashed into a pot of oil, causing the entire hall to boil over, and the disciples began to discuss among themselves.
"Isn't Junior Sister Yun a descendant of the Gu family's steward? How did she become this woman's daughter?"
"Could this woman be the steward's daughter-in-law?"
"How is that possible? Wasn't it said that the entire Gu family was slaughtered, with only Gu Changyuan and Yun Qing escaping?"
"I don't know."
Xuanming felt uneasy; he vaguely suspected that what Liu Ruyan said might be true. When Yun Qing first joined the sect, everyone was amazed by her talent, so no one bothered to verify her identity.
He just didn't understand why Yun Qing would lie. Being a descendant of the steward wouldn't give her any advantage.
Xuanming didn't like dealing with things to begin with, and the whole hall was in a mess, giving him a headache.
"Hezhi, Changyuan, I'll leave this matter to you. I'll stay here and oversee things."
Yun Hezhi was exhausted after a long day and didn't even have time to drink water. Her throat was parched. Upon hearing Xuanming's words, she pushed Gu Changyuan away.
Gu Changyuan sighed and had no choice but to take charge: "Madam, you say Yun Qing is your daughter, what evidence do you have?"
Evidence? Liu Ruyan was stunned. She had raised Yun Qing since she was born, and the two had only been separated for less than two months. What evidence was needed?
She walked up to Yun Qing, a look of longing on her face: "Qing Qing, tell me, am I your mother?"
Yun Qing: "No."
Yun Helan: "Did you hear that? She admitted it. What did you say?"
Yun Helan was already prepared to criticize Yun Qing for being unfilial, and had even said half of her lines, never expecting that Yun Qing would deny it.
Liu Ruyan was stunned. Yun Qing didn't recognize her? This fact overturned her long-held belief. After all, Yun Qing had always been very obedient to her.
At that moment, she was so anxious that she forgot to hide her identity and ripped off the veil from her face.
"Yunqing, look closely, it's your mother!"
The moment she revealed her true face, Yun Wanyan's pupils contracted slightly, and her eyes instantly turned sharp.
However, Liu Ruyan, immersed in her grief, was completely unaware of this.
In fact, from Liu Ruyan's perspective, Yun Wanyan had never seen her before. The reason she covered her face was simply because she was afraid of being recognized by some of her former disciples.
Yun Qing was being held by Liu Ruyan, and as she watched Liu Ruyan tearfully recount how difficult it had been to raise her all these years, Yun Qing felt extremely irritated and barely managed not to shake her off.
Seeing this, Gu Changyuan quickly stepped forward and rescued her.
"Ma'am, I really don't know you. Please stop making trouble."
With the two sides deadlocked, Yun Helan's intelligence, which she had never possessed before, unexpectedly came online for a moment.
