Chapter 5 A Sentimental Woman (shuhaige.net)

When Yun Qing looked at him, Qi Xiao also noticed her.

He thought to himself, "This lecherous fellow may look presentable, but he's just too vulgar."

Led by the servant, he carried the pipa and slowly walked down the steps to stand in the center of the stage.

Amidst the expectant gazes of the crowd, Qi Xiao gently plucked the strings, and melodious music flowed from his fingertips, composing a moving tune.

When the song ended, thunderous applause erupted from the audience.

"Excellent! Young Master Qi's skills are truly superb. His rendition of 'The Parting Ones Return' is superb."

The scene before her eyes made Yun Qing feel as if she had returned to many years ago, when that person was also skilled in music and played the guqin very well. He would always play for her in the pavilion in the Imperial Garden.

Standing on the stage, Qi Xiao heard the crowd praising her. She raised her proud head slightly, a barely perceptible hint of contempt flashing in her eyes: What a bunch of ignorant fools.

However, when his gaze swept over Yun Qing, he suddenly paused, then raised his eyebrows slightly and slowly pointed in her direction.

"Me?" Yun Qing pointed to herself, and seeing Qi Xiao nod, she pushed through the crowd and walked towards him.

"Who's this pretty boy? I've never seen him before."

"I don't know her either. I think it was her this morning who tore off Young Master Qi's clothes."

"Oh? What a lecherous fellow! Does Young Master Qi like this kind of person?"

...

The people below the stage were buzzing with discussion, but the two people on stage seemed to be in another world.

When Yun Qing walked up to her, Qi Xiao reservedly extended her hand, gesturing for her to support her.

As the most powerful woman in the Great Sheng Dynasty, second only to the emperor, Yun Qing had never done any servant's work before, and was momentarily stunned.

"What are you standing there for? Let's go."

Qi Xiao found it amusing to look at her blank expression and firmly placed his hand on the back of her hand.

"Oh, okay." Feeling the warm touch, Yun Qing came back to her senses and walked towards the second floor.

Unexpectedly, upon arriving at Qi Xiao's room and closing the door, he immediately shook off Yun Qing's hand, as if she were something dirty.

"Hey! What do you mean by this?"

"It doesn't mean anything, I just don't want to have anything to do with a lecher like you, is there a problem?" Qi Xiao's fingertips twitched slightly, and she felt a tingling sensation throughout her palm, especially where she touched the back of her hand.

Touching his rapidly beating heart, he was very puzzled. How could a woman have such smooth and delicate hands? The touch, like mutton fat jade, was simply irresistible to him.

Fearing embarrassment, Qi Xiao quickly released Yun Qing.

However, Yun Qing was unaware of his inner thoughts and thought she was really being disliked, so her face turned very pale.

"You were the one who called me out and asked me to help you up here, so why are you turning your back on me?"

"Don't worry about that. I only chose you because I dislike the others more. It's not because I'm interested in you. Don't get any ideas."

Yun Qing was both amused and exasperated. This was the first time she had been treated this way, and she found it quite novel. Oh well, since she had indeed been plotting against him, it didn't matter if she suffered a little indignation.

Seeing that she was lost in thought again, Qi Xiao silently opened the cabinet and took out a set of bedding.

"Here you go, you can sleep on the floor here tonight."

Yun Qing reached out and took it, but the next second she was stumped: "Why are there two of them? How should we lay them out?"

Qi Xiao looked at her in surprise: "You can't even tell the difference between bedding?"

Yun Qing didn't speak, but nodded blankly.

"Fine, I'll help you." Qi Xiao resignedly took back the bedding, carefully spread it out, and muttered as she worked, "I just can't do anything with you."
