With a thought, Long Xun was transported from the sea to the villa. To his surprise, in the room, which was decorated in the same style as the villa he had been assigned in the small world, a person with a long robe and a refined and elegant demeanor, whose gender was hard to discern, was already sitting on the understated yet luxurious leather sofa.
"You're back." The person smiled before speaking, her eyes sparkling, and her magnetic, husky voice finally revealed her gender—female.
Long Xun: "..." Who is this guy?
"Let me introduce myself first. I am Mu Lanjun. The guys above sent me to help you with your mission." Mu Lanjun stood up. The dark blue robe with dark gold cloud patterns, which had become a little loose from sitting on the sofa for a long time, was draped diagonally over her shoulder, revealing a bit of her jade-like collarbone. Strands of black hair peeked out from her slender neck and into the robe.
Some people are crazy when they're disheveled, while others are charming when they're disheveled.
Long Xun nodded and said calmly, "I am Long Xun."
Mu Lanjun smiled and said leisurely, "I know who you are, and I know what you did down there. I've been waiting for you for a long time."
A soft rustling sound came from the cuff of Long Xun's sleeve, where a pale yellow hamster peeked out, only to be quickly caught by him.
Over the years, spiritual energy has accumulated, and even after ten years that far exceed the lifespan limit of a hamster, Milk Tea still looks incredibly cute, showing no signs of reaching the end of her lifespan.
Long Xun gently stroked Milk Tea's fur with the fingertips of his other hand, raised his eyes and said calmly, "You're spying on me?"
"That's not it." Mu Lanjun flicked her finger, and a water mirror condensed before her. She smiled and said, "Look, this Mirror of Delusion can see the flaws in people's hearts. I've put in a lot of effort to add some other wonderful uses. As long as the person I want to see has a change in mood, I can see what happened to them at that moment. Originally, I was thinking that if you encountered any trouble, I, the immortal sent to protect you, could lend a hand. But I didn't expect that this broken mirror would show the image for such a short time. I know the general situation, but the details..."
Mu Lanjun glanced at the still calm Long Xun and suddenly raised an eyebrow: "I say, you're doing a pretty good job as the Dragon God."
"Hmm?" Long Xun asked, puzzled.
“You were just an ordinary human being before, with nothing outstanding about you. After transmigrating and gaining such powerful strength, you didn’t act recklessly and arbitrarily…” Mu Lanjun looked at Long Xun with great interest and clicked his tongue in amazement: “You took the initiative to assume the responsibility of protecting a country, or even a small world… You don’t seem to have the inherent weaknesses of humans.”
Human beings are inherently selfish and self-interested. Their first reaction to something good is to hold on tightly, and when they become powerful, they easily lose their rationality.
When you are weak, you will endure being bullied, but when you are strong, you may make someone suffer even if you don't like them. You are easily in awe yet also arrogant.
But Long Xun remained calm throughout, as if such immense power was commonplace for him.
Mu Lanjun's gaze darkened slightly as she looked inscrutable at the expressionless man.
Thinking of the immortal who sent her here to contact this man, and the way the immortal was so secretive and hesitant, carefully reminding her not to offend him, Mu Lanjun felt that she had guessed something.
If that's the truth... oh my god! Is it too late for her to go back now?
Mu Lanjun pondered the possibility in his heart, while half-jokingly saying, "Moreover... human beings are instinctive to deceive and conform. If their own race changes, people living in human society will try their best to hide it... but in this world, there is no need for disguise or concealment, and they don't care about such things at all. Only Gods do."
The inherent pride of the gods prevents them from doing so.
Just as God cannot comprehend certain human actions, humanity cannot understand the actions of God. The circles and rules established by humanity require outsiders to integrate, while those who cannot integrate are excluded and suppressed.
Phrases like "Those who are not of our kind will surely have different hearts" and "Those who follow the righteous path will receive much help, while those who stray from it will receive little help" clearly tell you that you must abide by our rules.
But none of these things matter in God's eyes.
Regardless of your surprise or fear, regardless of your psychological reaction, I am who I am, and my actions, my thoughts, and even every word I speak are the truth.
No explanation needed, no cover-up needed, no worries needed.
Because my existence is inherently justified and reasonable; whatever it may be, it is normal and absolute.
"So, you really pique my curiosity," Mu Lanjun said softly.
Long Xun finally frowned: "What are you trying to say?"
What does that nonsense have to do with him?
'Tsk tsk, how indifferent, but that makes it even more like it... In that case...'
Mu Lanjun chuckled easily, "Alright, what I mean is, since you're so comfortable being a dragon, why not stop the missions? That would be easier. After all, if you were to reshape your body, who knows how many worlds you'd have to go to, or how long it would take?"
Long Xun shook his head and slowly said, "I want to go back."
Mu Lanjun shrugged helplessly, raising her slender eyebrows and chuckling, "You're really cold-blooded. You're becoming more and more interesting to me... It's a pity for that devoted young man."
Yin Chen? The big boy who said he liked him?
Suddenly, the image of the other person dying in his arms flashed through Long Xun's mind. Soon, the image disappeared from the depths of his mind. His expression remained indifferent, and no one could tell what he was thinking.
