With nowhere to escape in the Tianyan Starry Sky, Bei Chen fled into a small world. Mu Fenglong and the two of them worked together to explore this place and broke through the obscuring power of cause and effect. Just as he was about to escape danger, they dealt a fierce blow to Bei Chen.
His remnant soul, which had been drawing power from Qi's soul, was contained within it. It was such a large mass, almost a third of all of Qi's souls, that it fell into this small world. Meanwhile, Bei Chen's soul also disappeared into this world.
If this fragment of soul can be found and returned... and then merged with the other soul fragments nurtured within the Phoenix God Palace, then these soul fragments will already possess half their original weight. At that time, Qi's soul will no longer be so fragile as to be immobile; Long Xun can carry it with him to countless worlds, quickly gathering other fragments through the connections between soul fragments!
What's infuriating is that Bei Chen didn't voluntarily give up on awakening the soul; his power was still applied to that soul, making it impossible to find it with divine sense alone.
Without hesitation, Long Xun used the Jianwang 3 system he hadn't yet broken free from to enter this small world.
This time, he randomly chose a profession, and it wasn't until the moment he actually landed that Long Xun remembered to glance at the system in his mind.
It is Tian Ce.
Perhaps because this small world itself does not have the problem of time rewind, there are not many people who should not have died but died unexpectedly and could be replaced. Long Xun unexpectedly shrank a bit and became a boy who looked only thirteen years old.
He was lying flat on the bed, the chaotic atmosphere around him indicating the presence of others. Taking advantage of the cover of his wide sleeves, Long Xun touched the ring and quickly used the ring still on his left hand to read the plot of the small world and the original owner's memories, thus clarifying his situation.
This world is amazing. Besides men and women, there is another type of man who is born different from ordinary people. A cinnabar mole on their face means that they can have children, and they are called "ge'er".
The boy is unable to conceive with women. His physical structure is identical to that of a man, except for the cinnabar birthmark that distinguishes him from others.
But everything in the world has a reason. The children born to these magical beings, the "Gege," have a certain chance of becoming "Heavenly Favored Ones." Every "Heavenly Favored One" will have a different appearance from ordinary people from birth, and after reaching a certain age, they will awaken magical abilities that ordinary people cannot possess.
The chances are slim, but that doesn't prevent men who can bear children from having a much higher status than women.
However, as time went on, those favored by Heaven gradually became scarcer, and even male prostitutes found it difficult to give birth to them, leaving no chance for others. Thus, those favored by Heaven slowly became legends. The status of male prostitutes gradually declined to the point where they were no different from ordinary women; no one considered them men, and they were all treated as women, even by themselves.
The founding ancestor of the Tianlong Dynasty was a chosen one of Heaven. Before he died, he said that another chosen one of Heaven would surely appear in his bloodline... and then he passed away.
The person Long Xun replaced was the chosen one who would appear in the royal family. He was born with silver-white hair and golden vertical pupils.
In the story, Long Xun's mother was a woman who lost in the power struggles of the harem and was disliked by the emperor. She gave birth to Long Xun in the harsh environment of the cold palace and died of postpartum hemorrhage. Long Xun was just a nobody forgotten in the palace.
Those favored by heaven can live without food or drink, relying solely on the spiritual energy contained in the air. In the original story, Long Xun grew up to be eleven years old, when one day he encountered the male protagonist, Mu Qiu, a sixteen-year-old boy who was brought into the palace to pay homage to the Empress but got lost and ended up in the Cold Palace.
Mu Qiu, young and clever, noticed Long Xun's differences and, upon meeting the emperor, casually informed him. Long Xun, who had lived alone like a stone for eleven years, was finally brought out of the cold palace and saw different colors. His innocent heart was then etched with the mark of Mu Qiu, who had brought all of this to light.
When Mu Qiu finally met his true love and they started dating, Long Xun in the original story always unconsciously helped him. Unfortunately, this kid was just as foolish as Xun was back then. He clearly liked someone but didn't realize it. In the end, he watched his beloved walk into someone else's arms without understanding why he felt pain in his heart and forced himself to be happy for Mu Qiu.
However, this innocent and naive male supporting character did not have a good ending. Although he was a chosen one, his brothers' ambition for the throne disregarded his status. At the age of thirteen, he tragically died in an assassination attempt by assassins sent by his brothers.
Mu Qiu remembered his help to her. Although she and her lover wanted to avenge him in the end, they could not do so because of the world's concerns. They could only feel a pang of sadness when they thought of him.
The timeline that Long Xun has traveled through is right after he was stabbed through the heart by an assassin, and the imperial physician has already announced his death to the emperor.
Those "younger brothers" were clearly overjoyed, but they suppressed all their schadenfreude and cried, "Little brother, why is your life so unlucky?"
The emperor was not particularly grieving, only somewhat regretful, and even relieved at the death of the person who had threatened his throne. Yet, he displayed a furious demeanor, vowing to investigate thoroughly.
The imperial physician stood quietly to one side, grateful that he had survived.
Everyone had their own thoughts, and no one cared about the life or death of the favored prince on the bed.
Long Xun slowly opened his eyes at that moment.
Exhaustion, desolation, indifference, deathly silence, cruelty, mockery—so many dark and oppressive emotions settled and solidified in those vertical pupils, becoming a thick, dark gold, like a wounded beast about to go mad, sending chills down one's spine.
When he became this person, the deep wound had healed itself without medicine.
