Shenmi is the young master of the Du'e Cult.
This name, which sounds like both a cult and Buddhism, is actually because "Du'e" is the core of the doctrine, and "Shen" is the surname of the young leader of the sect. Put together, it means the Du'e Divine Sect.
This shows that being bad at naming things is not limited by space or era.
This cult is quite different from others. The position of cult leader has always been vacant. In name, they are given the god they believe in, but in reality, the duties of the cult leader are actually assumed by the young master who is regarded as the god's son.
The interpretation of "Du'e" varied among the successive young masters. Some believed it meant slaughtering all evildoers, leading to bloodshed in the martial arts world and the imperial court, at which point the Divine Sect would be considered a demonic sect. Others believed it meant universal salvation, spreading kindness, and relieving suffering, which led to the Divine Sect being mistakenly perceived as monks practicing with their hair intact.
Some young lords believed in persuading people to do good and let go of grudges, while others believed in living a carefree life outside the capital, and still others believed in entering the court to protect their families and the country... The different educations given to the young lords of each generation led to different ideological leanings as they grew up.
This has resulted in the cult's members having a thousand different faces. When the young master is a fierce type, they will be bloodthirsty and ruthless in killing. When the young master is a benevolent type, they can immediately transform into kind-hearted people. When the young master wants to serve the country, they can be both eloquent and martial, capable of bringing peace to the world with their pens and conquering it on horseback.
Their unwavering and fanatical faith makes these followers of the cult a bunch of brainless fans. They regard the divine child as God's representative on earth and don't care at all how the young masters might cause trouble. They only focus on training themselves so that they can carry out the young master's instructions.
The current young master, Shenmi, was paralyzed in both legs due to an accident in his childhood. The previous young master passed on a divine skill to him, and the internal energy he cultivated could nourish his legs and help him recover. But until then, Shenmi will be completely powerless. Until his legs are fully restored, no one knows what level he can achieve through years of hard work.
However, the followers of the cult didn't care. Gods have a thousand faces, and their sons must have at least a hundred. Even if their young master was unruly and had a penchant for begging, they would only find him rather amusing.
However, Shenmi is physically weak and unable to fight, so the sect went into hiding and was secretly manipulated by Shenmi to perform acts of chivalry, healing the sick and saving lives.
The Mysterious Sect was personally raised by the previous young master, who believed that it was better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish. Therefore, he sent out talented followers to make a name for themselves in all directions, open private schools, and teach students all over the world.
Meanwhile, the previous young master secretly spent money and effort to pave the ground and build water conservancy projects. Starting from Shanxi, where the religion was located, he went east to Shandong, south to Jiangxi, and west to Sichuan... He spent his whole life organizing this area, making it well-organized, even more diligently than the emperor.
The previous young master did not believe the court's insistence on his personal involvement. Although he purchased a large amount of land, he almost bankrupted the cult's finances. After Shenmi took over, he led his followers on a voyage to trade with a country on the other side of the distant coast. After making a fortune, he used this as a basis for trading and relied on the cult's vast resources to circulate goods, quickly making the money grow exponentially.
Afterwards, Shenmi freed up his hands to continue the unfinished work of the previous young master. Unlike the previous young master, he did not distrust the court, but neither did he trust it much.
Having witnessed the rise and fall of other nations, Shenmi also foresaw that one day the Central Plains would clash with overseas powers. While the previous young ruler neglected education, he placed great importance on private schools. Although beggars were generally disliked, he instructed his followers to treat them kindly, unexpectedly gaining access to a wealth of valuable information.
Mystery's acts of kindness are not indiscriminate acts of charity. Through his sources, he can easily discern who needs help, who deserves their fate, and to what extent help is sufficient. Similarly, he can see which wicked people still have a conscience but are forced into it, which wicked people deserve to die, which seem good but are actually bad, and which seem bad but are actually good.
In order to take his partner away as soon as possible, Shunacha had no choice but to stay by Shenmi's side, watching this aloof young man push the wheelchair around busily, often staying up all night to correct academic papers.
Over time, Shunacha realized that the young man's indifferent expression and taciturn nature were simply because he was too tired and had no energy to deal with what he considered boring people and things, and he was too lazy to make any expressions.
When she has free time to rest, the only thing Shenmi likes and does is lie on a deck chair amidst the gentle breeze and green trees, relax with her eyes closed, and do nothing and think about nothing.
And Shunacha...
He counted the lifespan of humans on his fingers, and then realized that Shenmi was only twenty-four years old, and felt utterly hopeless.
Damn it, when are we going to get there?!
Shunacha slumped in the chair, utterly dejected, his eyes glazed over.
Without looking up, the enigmatic figure, who was writing a letter with one hand, picked up a pastry from the table with his free hand and tossed it towards Shunaicha.
"Awoo!"
Shunacha suddenly sprang up, stretched his neck, opened his mouth, and caught the pastry, eating it until his mouth was bulging, just like a little hamster.
"What are you thinking about?" Shenmi asked, while moving another stack of academic papers that he needed to review in front of him and squinting at them.
In the blink of an eye, Shunaicha had been by his side for half a year. Shunaicha didn't say what he was supposed to do by following him, and Shenmi didn't ask either. At first, he didn't care what Shunaicha was doing, but later, seeing that Shunaicha was always by his side, another chair, another couch, another cup, and other small items gradually appeared in the places where he often stayed.
One day, Shunacha suddenly realized that the mystery had tacitly accepted his existence in his life without saying a word.
