Chapter 23 The Dragon of the Transmigrated Trio (Part 10)

A month goes by pretty quickly.

Since Long Xun intended to observe the lives of ordinary people in this world, he couldn't stay in the air forever. Occasionally, he would descend to live among the people for a few days, listen to their conversations, stroll through the fields, or sample the food that ordinary people typically ate.

To be honest, compared to modern society, the common people in ancient times lived like the poor in modern society. What they wanted was to have enough to eat and to live peacefully; how well they dressed was secondary.

The emperor was a fairly good one, which was evident in the fact that in the lands Long Xun and his companions traversed, most commoners were able to eat their fill, and a few of the wealthier ones could even afford some meat. And while their clothes were patched and tattered, they were generally still warm.

There are indeed corrupt officials, but no one dares to go too far.

It seems that although this emperor had some mental issues, he could at least be considered a good emperor.

Long Xun, Gu Nu, and Chen Ziqi originally planned to attend the ceremony of bestowing the title of Imperial Preceptor, but when Yin Long was rushing from the far north to the capital, he discovered a large patch of dark clouds in the sky. The clouds were thick, continuous, and thundered incessantly. Long Xun couldn't help but approach to take a look, and then he saw the rolling floods below and the mudslides formed by the landslides caused by the floods, as well as the despair and grief emanating from the humans.

"Brother Long!! There are people in that town down there!" Chen Ziqi shouted hoarsely, her voice broken and scattered by the wind and rain, so that even the Gu Nu who was right next to her could not hear her clearly.

Fortunately, Long Xun heard it.

Long Xun lowered his head and looked at the small town built in the lowlands. The town was in a good location, backed by mountains, with a winding river flowing slowly in front of it. Even floods had not been able to submerge it.

However, the excessive rainfall still caused a landslide. The mud and soil rushing down from the heights were falling too fast with tremendous force, and the townspeople had no time to escape. They could only cry in despair, tightly hugging their loved ones and waiting to die.

Long Xun swooped down and landed at the foot of the mountain in front of the town. His huge dragon body lay across the earth like a dam, blocking the mudslide that was about to destroy everything. The destructive torrent rushed up with a deafening roar, but it could not shake the winding and majestic dragon body, which was as tall as a mountain range, in the slightest.

The torrential rain poured down, and the people, who had been wailing and in despair, watched as a dragon suddenly appeared and stopped the flood. Its shimmering silver scales were covered with mud, and its majestic whiskers and mane looked as if they had been dragged out of the mud. Its once beautiful bright silver was now stained with mud, and even its horns and head were mottled. The whole dragon looked miserable.

With the dragon's body as the boundary, on one side is the devastating mudslide that shows no sign of stopping, and on the other side are the tiny, stunned people.

Long Xun turned his head to look at the townspeople who had been saved. The people who had just experienced life and death were like frightened birds. When they saw him turn his head, they all subconsciously showed fear.

Long Xun watched them quietly for a while. A moment later, another thunderclap rang out in the sky. Long Xun looked up at the dark and oppressive sky, and then at the mountains that had protected this town for so long.

The mudslide, which had already slowed down, suddenly gained momentum and surged forward with even greater force.

Long Xun himself didn't care, but some of the stones that bounced off him due to their strong impact were able to pass over his body and almost hit the townspeople.

The Gu woman and Chen Ziqi, who were thrown onto the dragon's back the moment Long Xun was about to save people, looked at the ever-growing mudslide and their faces turned deathly pale.

The Gu woman trembled as she lay on the dragon's back, her voice shaking as she asked, "Dragon... Dragon God, are you alright?"

"It's nothing." Just as the thunderous voice rang out, another clap of thunder echoed in the sky, and the distant mudslide stirred up small ripples. Long Xun immediately fell silent, glanced at the sky, and then transmitted his voice: "You go and evacuate the townspeople. Gu Nu, those injured are your responsibility. I'll have Milk Tea lead the way."

The dragon's back was wide, and with the torrential rain, if there was no one who knew the way, Gu Nu and Chen Ziqi probably wouldn't be able to figure out where to go to get to safe ground.

"Okay, okay..." The Gu woman stood up, feeling dizzy. After catching her breath, she heard a soft squeaking sound. Before she could even bend down, she slipped on a patch of mud and almost fell. Chen Ziqi reached out and pulled her up. As a woman who had been an assassin for ten years, her resilience was much stronger than the Gu woman's.

"It's milk tea." Chen Ziqi half-squatted down and stretched out her hand. The milk tea mouse, its fur wet and clinging to its body, jumped onto her palm, let out a soft cry, and then frantically waved its little paws in one direction.

The two girls wiped the rain off their faces and, supporting each other, walked in the direction it pointed out.

After getting used to walking on the dragon's back, the two girls used their lightness skills to increase their speed. Before long, they arrived in the direction Milk Tea pointed. Only then did they realize that they had actually walked onto the dragon's head.

Those two dragon horns were as tall as pillars supporting the sky.

Under normal circumstances, Long Xun would not want anyone to stand on his back, let alone his head. However, in certain special circumstances, such insistence, which is insignificant compared to certain things, is not so necessary.

Long Xun lowered his head, letting the two girls jump from his head to the townspeople. His voice resonated in everyone's hearts: "Gentlemen, the torrential rain continues, and we don't know when the mudslide will stop. It's best to leave as soon as possible."

"That's right, everyone hurry up and leave here!" the Gu woman shouted.

The townspeople, who had calmed down slightly upon seeing humans, looked at each other in bewilderment. After a long while, an elderly man stepped out from the crowd and said in a hoarse voice, "We can't leave, young lady. The only road out of the mountains has been blocked by a landslide."
