Yin Bei ultimately stayed at the base.
Everyone in the Dragon Seeking Squad knew why he had come. Those with milder personalities would at most give him a perfunctory smile and then avoid him, while those who weren't so mild-mannered simply ignored his existence.
Anyway, there are already quite a few people living in the base, so one more annoying person won't make a difference.
The person they rescued was a woman, but no one paid attention to her name. After handing her over to the medical team, the team members forgot about her altogether.
In the past six months, we've rescued so many people that at first, some people had the leisure to chat with others and find out what was going on, but now they don't.
So when Po opened the door after hearing the knock, he was met by soldiers who burst in and pointed their guns at him. A research team member who looked familiar said to him, "I'm sorry, Mr. Po, Ms. Liu Fen said that you seem to have been infected and become a zombie, so please come with us for an examination."
Po's beautiful face froze as if it were frozen, her deep, obsidian-like eyes staring at the person in front of her. She only asked one question: "Who is Liu Fen?"
Those were the people they rescued during their mission, and the person who went into the room to rescue them was Po. The woman was not unconscious at the time; she was fully conscious.
She saw that Po was different from others.
Cameron, who lived across the hall from Po, opened his door. He had obviously just taken a shower, as his black hair was still dripping wet, and he was only wearing a bathrobe draped loosely over his shoulders, the loosely tied belt revealing his fair but firm chest muscles.
Although he looks thin, he has developed a strong physique during the past six months of busy work, which is not noticeable when he is wearing clothes.
Camer flashed his standard business smile and said politely, "Isn't Dr. Xu going too far?"
Dr. Xu glanced at Po, whose face remained cold even with a gun pointed at him, and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Ka, we're worried that Mr. Po might resist..."
He paused, then said to the soldiers around him, "Put your guns away. Mr. Po is a hero, and we cannot treat heroes like this."
Po gave a cold laugh that was unclear in meaning.
The soldiers obediently lowered their guns silently. They were unwilling to raise their guns against any member of the Dragon Search Squad because each of them was a hero. They had saved countless people, both inside and outside the base, and many people admired them.
But they are soldiers, and obeying orders is the first principle of soldiers. When their superiors tell them to raise their guns, they can only do so.
Camer rolled up the sleeves of his bathrobe, revealing his delicate, fair yet strong forearms, and smiled, "That's more like it. I almost thought... the base was going to kick us while we're down and try to get rid of us."
Dr. Xu was one of the few tactful people among the researchers. He sensed the danger in Camer's tone and quickly said with a dry laugh, "This... how could that be? Please don't make things difficult for us, Mr. Camer. We are just following orders."
"On orders? Whose orders?" Po asked calmly.
"Dr. Sheila."
Upon hearing the name, both Cameron and Po fell silent.
As the team's founders, Long Xun, Xila, and Yin Chen wield unparalleled prestige within the group. The team members generally follow through on anything they set out to do.
The difference is that, as the team leader, Long Xun would ask them to jump into an active volcano without hesitation, while if Xila and Yin Chen's requests were a little strange or unusual, they would inform Long Xun first before making a decision.
But judging from their current demeanor, it seems they are unwilling to give Long Xun time to inform him.
Camer looked at Po with some concern. As the veterans of the team, their bond was deeper than that of the others, as evidenced by the fact that they lived across the hall from each other. If anything happened to one of them, the other could rush over as quickly as possible.
The tense atmosphere made everyone a little nervous. Po glanced at Cameron, then looked at Dr. Xu and said coldly, "I'll go with you."
Dr. Xu breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Po."
Camer watched silently as the people surrounded or even escorted Po away. He closed the door, returned to his room, took out his phone, and made a call to Long Xun: "Brother Long, Po has been taken away by the research team."
Long Xun was silent for a moment, then his deep voice came through the phone: "I understand."
The next moment, Long Xun's voice blared from the loudspeaker hanging in the window: "Team, assemble!"
As members of the same team, Long Xun, Yin Chen, Xila, Ye Tan, Mu Chunfeng, Eryuan Sanliang, Po, Ka Mo, Xila, Zhang Moyu, Qi Qi, Wang Yimo, Chen Yanye, and Yu Duguang all lived in the same apartment building. If anyone needed to speak, they could shout through the loudspeaker on their window and everyone else would know, which was more convenient than making a phone call.
It's not that we can't allocate better and bigger houses, but it's too troublesome to gather those villas together. You have to understand that not everyone in this team is exceptionally fast, and if they live far apart, it would be too difficult to gather them together in case of any unexpected events.
A few minutes later, everyone gathered in Long Xun's room on the third floor, and casually picked a place in the living room to sit or lean against something.
After Zhang Moyu arrived, Yin Chen went over and closed the door. Long Xun nodded to Cameron, who had changed into a white shirt and black trousers, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and looking like a business elite. Cameron then said, "Just ten minutes ago, Dr. Xu, on Sheila's orders, led a team of soldiers into Po's room and took him away. It's because the woman we rescued today said she was infected and needed to undergo more detailed examinations."
He explained what had just happened in one sentence, and as soon as he finished speaking, the room erupted in chaos.
