Chapter 46 Reborn as a Dragon in the Zombie World (Seventeen)

"Thank goodness! Hilla, you're alright!" Yu Duguang's voice was almost trembling.

Mu Chunfeng, who had been silent all along, felt a slight dizziness. He breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against Ye Tan beside him, who hugged him tightly as she laughed. Zhang Moyu smiled, and Qi Qi clapped her hands excitedly, standing on tiptoe to see what was happening.

Wang Yimo grinned, then quietly wiped away the tears that mingled with the rain as he looked down.

Po suddenly looked up and glanced around, then frowned and snapped, "Get out of the way!"

Suddenly, everyone realized that a group of zombies had quietly surrounded them in the heavy rain. But at Po's cold and sharp shout, the group of zombies paused for a moment and then disappeared even faster than when they arrived.

The ground suddenly shook again.

"Was there an earthquake?" Yu Duguang asked, dropping the mangled body of Sheila he was holding and wiping the rain off his face.

"This world is going to be destroyed." Long Xun looked down at the computer in his hand, and after a moment, he looked up again in the direction from which the crowd had come.

Above J City, faint traces of spatial distortion were visible, causing the dark clouds in the sky to turn into vortexes, and the edges of the vortexes were slowly increasing.

It's like a huge hole suddenly appeared in the sky.

"What is that? Brother Long, what do you mean by saying the world is going to be destroyed?" Camer asked in surprise.

Long Xun did not answer him. Sheila also saw the situation there through the camera and said, "Energy fluctuations detected. A large hurricane is about to hit J City. It is recommended to evacuate the people of J City immediately."

Everyone: "..."

Ye Tan angrily said, "Hila, are you out of your mind? The people from J City ruined your body and kicked us all out, and you still want to save them?"

"If the population is not evacuated, a large number of people will lose their lives."

"Are you kidding me?" Ye Tan chuckled.

“No.” Sheila never joked.

“I’m not going to care about those people anymore.” Zhang Moyu sneered, “They call us heroes during the day, but they can wipe us out overnight… These fickle people are better off dead.”

Wang Yimo hesitated for a moment, then said, "Sister Zhang is right, those people... they wanted to kill us."

Otherwise, that shot wouldn't have been fired.

Looking at the increasingly dense dark clouds in the distance, Mu Chunfeng finally couldn't help but speak up: "Those who forced us to die deserved to die, but there are still many more innocent people around."

Sanliang sneered and said indifferently, "What's there to care about? None of us can get back in time to save people. We've said it before, we should just eat all the humans. You humans are helping each other and now you're attacking each other, how ridiculous!"

“Sanliang, you can’t say that. There are still more good people than bad people in the world,” Eryuan retorted.

"There are so many good people here, and we're going to get soaked in the rain?!" Sanliang angrily lashed out with its tail, splashing mud and water onto the people around it who couldn't dodge in time, but the mud was quickly washed away and faded in the downpour.

Chen Yanye spoke up, "I was able to escape... thanks to the help of a stranger. What exactly happened today?"

Po took a deep breath and looked at Long Xun, saying, "Brother Long, let me explain."

Long Xun nodded indifferently, his expression still blank, but in his heart he was still thinking about how to save the world from its impending collapse.

The shattered barrier is struggling to repair itself, but everything is easier to destroy than to rebuild, and the world is increasingly powerless to do so.

Long Xun could hear that the world was filled with sorrow and despair.

The roar of the sea is its angry and desperate howl, the tremors of the ground are its unwilling struggle, the swirling dark clouds in the sky are the wonders that appear when it tries its best to repair itself, and the knife-like rain is its lament.

Why must I die? I have given you everything I have.

If you want water, I will give you rivers, lakes, and seas.

If you want food, I will give you fertile land.

I will give you the mountains, rocks, flowers, trees and grasses where you want to live.

Whatever you want, I will give you; why do you want to destroy me?

Why? I want to live, I want to exist. Although you have caused me pain and left me scarred, I don't care. I bear your life and death, your glory and disgrace, your laughter and joy, and the cycle of life and death of all living beings. I treat you with such joy and anticipation.

Even though I might occasionally doze off, and a sneeze might inadvertently destroy many lives, I have always taken everything from you.

Why did I become like this? Why did you kill me?

The will of the small world is very weak. Even when it is on the verge of death, it can only ask why again and again in bewilderment.

Why can't you, God, save me?

Why did you come here claiming to help me, only to wake up to this fate?

Why couldn't you stop all of this?

Please, please save me.

I don't want to die, I don't want to be destroyed.

Long Xun quietly raised his head, gazing at the dark clouds filling the sky, yet through those clouds he seemed to be meeting the gaze of this world's fragile and insignificant consciousness.

It was still a newborn consciousness, like that of an infant, yet it was already facing death.

It wasn't that he didn't want to save them, but that he couldn't figure out what to do.

The profound sorrow of the impending annihilation of heaven and earth lingered in his heart, yet Long Xun was powerless to help.

Po quietly recounted everything that had happened that day, and finally concluded with a bitter smile: "I... I really don't understand. Even if becoming a zombie is a sin, I've saved so many people. Buddhism says that saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. Shouldn't these merits offset this evil? Why do I still face such an ending?"
