Chapter 51 The Past Long Ago (Part 3)

Xun was almost beaten into a pig's head by the enraged Beicheng Qi.

Wearing an outer robe and still dripping wet, Bei Chengqi had a cold expression. He kept wiping his lips with the back of his hand, almost until they bled, but he didn't stop.

As Xun sensed the murderous intent emanating from the person opposite him, he became even more confused, and he even began to feel a kind of emotion that he did not understand.

Why could you do that to him before, but now you want to kill him after he does it?

Bei Chengqi looked at the still calm man in front of him. His eyes were staring straight at him. For some reason, Bei Chengqi felt that this man seemed to be... aggrieved?

That's ridiculous. She just suddenly appeared and kissed him out of nowhere. What does that mean? Does she want to die?

But Bei Chengqi couldn't beat him.

Poison had absolutely no effect on him.

In an attempt to get rid of this persistent nuisance, Bei Chengqi had secretly poisoned him countless times, but the man remained unresponsive.

Now... Kita no Kei felt he really should study poisons properly and kill this damned guy.

Watching Bei Chengqi leave with a flick of his sleeve, Xun silently lowered his eyes, seriously pondering why this was.

Even if he foresaw some things, he still wouldn't directly understand emotions or things he didn't understand.

Unable to empathize, all that could be given to him was inanimate objects and knowledge.

Bei Chengqi began researching highly toxic substances. He wanted to teach that man a lesson; the price for insulting him would be that man's life.

Even though Xun was slow to notice, he gradually realized that something was wrong with Bei Chengqi's behavior of always coming with a cold smile and leaving with a gloomy face. He calmed down and observed carefully, and then he understood.

Was Bei Chengqi drugging him?

Oh right, Qi has forgotten the past. He has forgotten that God is invulnerable to all poisons.

I've heard that Qi is a very famous doctor in this world. Is researching poisons part of a doctor's job? I've heard in other worlds that there are human test subjects for drug trials. Is Qi asking him to be a test subject?

Xun felt that since he always made Qi angry, he should find a way to make the medicine work on himself so that Qi would stop being annoyed with him and become a qualified test subject.

He created a mortal body for himself.

Bei Chengqi had not noticed anything different about Xun. He had been relentlessly drugging Xun for two years. His poison skills were already unparalleled, but he still had no way to deal with Xun.

This made Bei Chengqi feel a subtle sense of dejection; he had only been routinely poisoning Xun.

On this day, Bei Chengqi, who was in the alchemy room, came out and saw Xun waiting for him at the door.

Even though she was annoyed by Xun, Bei Chengqi had long since gotten used to seeing him all the time due to their constant encounters.

He casually tossed a handful of poison powder over, thinking it wouldn't work this time either. But to his surprise, a bluish-black tinge appeared on the man's handsome face, and his body convulsed involuntarily as he collapsed.

Bei Chengqi instinctively caught him and took his pulse.

That was the pulse of an ordinary person, and the powerful energy that once filled this man's body had vanished.

It's hard to describe Bei Chengqi's feelings at that moment. The person he thought he could never get rid of was about to die, yet he showed a complicated expression and chuckled softly after a long while.

"How strange~ You actually lost all your internal energy?" Bei Chengqi laughed and was about to let go of Xun. He felt so happy that he could drink ten catties of wine to celebrate.

Xun reached out and grasped his wrist.

Even though he was poisoned, had difficulty breathing, and experienced bouts of blacking out, Xun remained calm. Due to the intense pain in his body, he couldn't control the strength in his hands, and the veins on his hand gripping Bei Chengqi bulged, almost leaving a bruise on that fair wrist.

Bei Chengqi, unusually kind, stopped and waited expectantly for his last words.

So, how about that? Someone as arrogant as you never imagined you'd actually die at his hands, did you? Let him hear what kind of curse someone like you would utter before dying.

"This...this poison...it hurts so much..." Xun struggled to speak, describing the sensations his mortal body was experiencing, carefully enunciating each word as he slowly said, "It's internal pain...starting from my stomach, like...something suddenly cut me open...my stomach...has many tiny knives...flowing out...spreading inside my body...then I feel cold...my body becomes...stiff...my lungs hurt so much...and...gradually...I can't breathe..."

Bei Chengqi's amused smile slowly faded from his lips.

With a shifty gaze fixed on the man who was stammering out his feelings, Bei Chengqi coldly said, "Is that all you wanted to say?"

"You... want to use me as a test subject... fine... then..."

"...Testing poison? You think I've been using you...to test poison all along?"

"Um... I... am now a mortal... the poison can take effect... are you... still... angry?"

Bei Chengqi lowered his eyes, looking at the man whose body was twitching unnaturally. Every time his lips opened and closed, large amounts of dark blood would spill out.

He clearly sensed that he had been poisoning her, yet he dispersed his internal energy to allow the poison to take effect. Should we call him stupid, or what?

Xun's mortal body did not die from that poisoning, and Bei Chengqi never poisoned him again afterward.

Bei Chengqi discovered something interesting: every time that man said something, no matter how difficult it was, he would find a way to do it.

What is this?

Bei Chengqi rested his forehead on his hand, watching casually as the man carefully tended to the poisonous flowers and plants as instructed. Even though he was clumsy and got pricked by the thorns, and even though his hands swelled up from the poison, he didn't complain at all.
