boom--!
With a loud bang, the fish-head cart was finally carried to the station by the public flow.
The moment it embedded itself into the honeycomb-like, hole-filled rocks, the fish-head cart instantly transformed into a thin, semi-transparent membrane once more. Long Xun's hands were suddenly empty, and he was thrown onto the membrane like a pancake by the force of his forward momentum. The membrane gently bent backward slightly, and with a soft pop, it spit the motionless Long Xun to the other side without injuring him.
Yin Chen and Milk Tea were also thrown out.
The intense vibrations he felt inside the fish-head car left half of Long Xun's body numb. He lay on the ground, and it took him a while to slowly roll over and sit up. Yin Chen laughed heartily, patting the fish tail, and nimbly swam over, his blue eyes looking excitedly at Long Xun: "Little guy, how was it? Wasn't it exciting~!"
Long Xun glanced at him, shook his hand, and slowly said, "I am Long Xun."
Yin Chen paused for a moment, muttering to himself, "Long Xun... Long Xun... A-Xun? Strange, I feel like I've heard this name somewhere before..."
Long Xun couldn't help but shift his gaze to Yin Chen, silently watching him ponder his name.
After a long pause, Yin Chen, who had been frowning and thinking for a long time without finding a solution, shook his head, put the question out of his mind, and laughed, "I'll call you A-Xun from now on, okay?"
“…Okay.” Long Xun responded softly.
If you can't remember, then you can't remember. There doesn't seem to be anything worth recalling about their past interactions.
"So, Brother Chen, you've lost your memory~! Well then, I won't blame you anymore, okay?" Milk Tea, feeling dizzy and unable to get up from Long Xun's collar, still continued to speak softly.
Yin Chen burst into laughter, reaching out to ruffle Milk Tea's fur: "Hahaha, thank you so much!"
After resting for a while, the dragon, the fish, and the rat swam out from the No. 4 hole of this public transport station.
The outside world is completely different from where Yin Chen's home is located. The small town where Yin Chen's home is located is three-dimensional, with habitable and walkable parts extending from the seabed upwards. However, that small town is also too random. The city in front of us is truly an underwater city, just like the legendary city of Atlantis.
Neatly planned buildings are arranged in an orderly manner, and mermaids come and go on specially designated roads. Above the city, in the ocean, mermaids can be seen from time to time driving their unique single-fish vehicles, either coming out of the city or going into the sea.
The public transport platform was located on a cliff on the edge of that city.
It's easy to understand; with such a powerful impact, if it were set in a city, it might destroy something.
Yin Chen led Long Xun to a crystal palace-like building. After swimming up three floors, he led Long Xun into a small cubicle. Inside the magical-style room, a female mermaid looked at Yin Chen, smiled, and said, "You're the mermaid I booked to adopt the day before yesterday, right? Here's the form; just fill it out."
"Thank you for your help!" Yin Chen turned around and instructed Long Xun, "Xun, wait for me a moment, it will be ready soon."
Long Xun nodded, and Yin Chen swam to the stone table, took out a pen and paper, and began to write. He quickly filled it out and handed it to the female mermaid, who opened the mirage pearl in front of her and began to operate it on the light screen.
The wait was getting a bit boring, and Milk Tea, who had gotten used to swimming in the sea, soon couldn't stay still. She wandered around on Long Xun's shoulder, and suddenly her eyes lit up. She tugged at a strand of silver hair that fell beside Long Xun's temple: "Master, Master, look over there~! It's so interesting..."
Long Xun looked in the direction it indicated and saw some female mermaids wearing large round necks adorned with lace, standing upright like seahorses, gently swimming. They were talking and laughing while gently covering their mouths with their hands, looking like a group of noble ladies taking small, quick steps.
The difference is that most mermaids can only swim at the bottom, while these few mermaid ladies can leisurely swim around the third floor, which is level with the building.
It seems that even in a mermaid society, there are very clear hierarchical distinctions.
Long Xun glanced at it and then looked away indifferently.
Yin Chen had finished the formalities in no time and swam over with a chip attached to a chain, handing it to Long Xun with a smile: "Here you go, Xun. This is your identity card. You'll receive a fixed amount of living expenses every year until you come of age and find a job. Remember to keep it safe."
Long Xun responded, and Yin Chen hung the identity crystal card around his neck and then put the rope away, so that the identity crystal card wouldn't be lost.
"Alright~! Hmm... coming to think of it, my vacation seems to end today, and I have to go back to work tomorrow. Ah Xun, we'll have to stay in this city~!" Yin Chen scratched his cheek with his index finger and laughed.
"Go to work?" Long Xun repeated in confusion. Are the nature of work in the merfolk society the same as that of humans?
“That’s right, I’m a dancer at the Enchanted Bar! But that kind of place isn’t suitable for you. I’ll have to ask my friend to take care of you first,” Yin Chen continued.
"Why can't the bar owner go?" Milk Tea asked softly.
A bar dancer… Long Xun’s eyes twitched slightly. Could this dancer be the kind of person he was thinking of who does those kinds of dances?
It should be different. Mermaid society is fundamentally different from human society. Perhaps the profession of dancer is not as bad as it is in human society.
Yin Chen didn't notice what was hidden beneath Long Xun's expressionless, round face, and chuckled, "There are too many fish in that place. It would be troublesome if Xun got lost."
