Chapter 73 Dragons of the Mermaid World (18)

Long Xun was slightly taken aback and looked down at the sugar figurine in his palm.

Its dusty appearance made it absolutely inedible.

Seeing him stunned, Xiaoyu, though still expressionless, seemed to sense his bewilderment and grinned with an innocent childlike smile: "Big brother, do you want a sugar figurine too? Xiaoyu knows where to buy one!"

The little girl no longer felt the pain in her bottom. She pushed herself up with both hands, dusted off her skirt, knocked the sugar figurine out of Long Xun's hand, and grabbed his big hand.

Long Xun subconsciously tried to pull his hand away slightly, but couldn't.

"Big brother, come with me!" Xiaoyu giggled, her tear stains still wet on her face, and pulled Long Xun through the crowd.

Long Xun didn't want to hurt her, so he stumbled and staggered as he was pulled along by this ordinary little girl. Everyone else ignored him. In the crowd, all that could be seen was a petite seven or eight-year-old girl with her hair flying as she ran very fast.

"Over there!"

Xiao Yu suddenly let go and disappeared into the crowd like an eel. Long Xun staggered a couple of steps and looked around in a slightly bewildered manner.

After running around like that, he really didn't know where he went.

In front of the sugar figurine stall, Xiaoyu raised her little hand, her childish voice brimming with energy: "Grandpa, I want two more sugar figurines!"

"Okay!"

Just as Long Xun was about to continue browsing, a sugar figurine was suddenly poked in front of his nose. Following the stick of the sugar figurine downwards, he saw a pink little hand, a section of a lotus-colored little dress sleeve, and a girl with her hair in two buns. Her clear black eyes were staring straight at him, filled with innocent smiles.

"Big brother, here you go!"

Long Xun watched her quietly for a while, then reached out and pinched the small stick in the same way she did.

Xiaoyu's eyes crinkled with laughter as she happily licked her sugar figurine.

Long Xun looked at it for a while, then looked at the yellowish thing, and imitated her, sticking out a little bit of his tongue and slowly licking it.

A glimmer of light flashed in his cold, dark eyes, like a shooting star.

So sweet!

Xiaoyu watched the fairy-like brother licking the sugar figurine and giggled, then happily started eating her own share.

Two people, one big and one small, stood in the crowd at a corner of the street, facing each other as they licked the candy figurine.

"Miss? Miss? Where are you?"

Suddenly, a shout rang out, and Xiaoyu turned around and shouted loudly, "Nanny! I'm here!"

But when she turned around, the fairy brother who had just been in front of her had vanished without a trace.

Xiaoyu was a little stunned for a moment, looking at the sugar figurine in her hand, wondering if meeting the fairy brother was just a dream.

A middle-aged woman and several servants squeezed through the crowd and came to Xiaoyu's side. They loudly expressed their concern for her and led her away into the distance. As Xiaoyu walked, she kept looking back, but she could no longer see her brother who had never spoken a word but made her feel safe.

The little child felt a subtle sense of loss for the first time.

Long Xun was still standing there; he simply made himself invisible to the girl again, so that mortals could no longer see him.

He quietly watched the girl walk away, still holding the sugar figurine in his hand.

This encounter was like a small insect gently landing on the surface of a pond, causing not even a ripple before returning to calm.

However, the next moment, a smiling voice rang out from behind him.

"Your Majesty the Dragon God, you certainly have a good time."

Long Xun suddenly turned around. Amidst the bright lights, a tall and elegant man in a simple white robe gently removed the smiling mask from his face, revealing an exceptionally handsome face.

His eyelashes, as delicate as butterfly wings, trembled slightly, casting a reflection in his shimmering eyes, making them appear incredibly deep. The lights of the sky fell into his eyes, as beautiful as stars floating in the universe.

A slightly surprised smile played on his lips, his eyes gentle and clear, like a spring, pure and clean.

In that instant, it was as if Qi, who had accompanied him through countless years, was standing there, smiling at him.

Long Xun seemed to be in a daze for a moment, and the next moment, he heard himself say, "Immortal Emperor Beichen".

Bei Chen chuckled and shook his head, saying, "Just call me Chen." Then, for some reason, he laughed again, a laugh tinged with mockery: "When I was traveling through the mortal world, I heard a poem: 'I searched for him a thousand times in the crowd, then suddenly turning around, I found him where the lights were dim.' Just now, when you turned your head, I seemed to see that poem in your eyes. Hahahaha!"

Long Xun watched expressionlessly as he suddenly burst into laughter as if he had been tickled, completely unaware of what he was laughing about.

After laughing for a while, Bei Chen coughed and stopped laughing, saying, "It's not easy for Your Majesty to come down to the mortal realm. It would be too boring if you didn't blend in with the crowd."

Long Xun remained expressionless as he looked at him.

Bei Chen awkwardly scratched his cheek with his index finger and said, "I mean, would you like to come play with me? Well, consider it as repaying your life-saving grace last time."
