The almost frantic golden-tailed mermaid trembled as she reached out, scattering silver specks of light one by one back onto the quietly sleeping child.
But it had no effect whatsoever.
"Don't do this to me..."
"Ah Xun, please, wake up and look at me..."
"Don't do this to me... I'm so scared..."
Tears streamed from her eyes, which were gradually turning from deep blue to black, turning into glistening pearls that dripped onto the bed.
Mermaids' tears turn into pearls, but they do not cry.
Even the children of the mermaids don't cry.
When mermaids shed tears, it signifies that they are overwhelmed by immense despair. If there is no way to stop them, many mermaids will cry themselves blind or die.
Kasai watched all this in shock until he heard the crisp sound of the pearl hitting the ground. He snapped out of his daze and quickly swam over to try and stop Yin Chen: "Chen! Calm down! Don't cry!"
Yin Chen could no longer hear any other sounds. His eyes were filled with terror, and all he could see was the child who was fading away. All he could hear was the child's name being called out.
Ah Xun, Ah Xun.
Long Xun, Long Xun.
Don't leave me.
Don't treat me like this.
"Ah Chen! Calm down! Do you want to go blind?"
Please tell me you're okay.
Please.
Please...
"Damn it..."
Kasai punched Yin Chen, who seemed to be possessed, in the face. The golden-tailed, terrifyingly powerful, and monstrous ancient mermaid was easily knocked to the ground by him, leaving Kasai stunned for a moment.
The next second, Kasai grabbed the small fin on his shoulder, lifted him up, shook him violently, and roared, "Wake up!"
However, Yin Chen's eyes remained fixed on that small, transparent figure on the bed from beginning to end.
Kasai's punch only interrupted his frantic howls, but it failed to pull him back from the abyss of chaos and despair.
His lips were still moving slightly, as if he were muttering something.
'Just tell me you're okay...'
'Am I bothering you too much...? If you find it annoying, I'll leave.'
'Is it because I took your snacks? If you want more, you can eat as much as you want...'
'Please, tell me you're alright.'
'Whatever you want, I can give you.'
Pleaseā¦
"Please, wake up... I'll give you my life, just open your eyes and look at me one more time..."
However, what responded to him was the figure of the three-year-old child, which suddenly turned into scattered silver light.
His eyes widened in despair, tears blurring his vision. Yin Chen stretched out his hand with difficulty, but only a few silver fragments floated lightly into his palm.
His mouth was wide open, and although he was in the seawater, he seemed unable to breathe as if he were in dusty air.
He wanted to scream, to shout, to desperately wake himself up and end this nightmare, so that when he woke up he would see that cute, delicate child again, looking at him indifferently with a pair of golden vertical pupils.
But there was nothing there.
"Aa ...
A desperate wail, like that of a dying beast, echoed through the air above the Mystic Bar.
...
I suddenly had a dream.
Long Xun was still thinking this when he woke up, and then he realized something was wrong.
The silver dragon placed on the high platform suddenly moved its head. Even just the slightest movement of its massive body, such as the bending of its claws, could create waves that would be enough to give a mermaid a surfing experience, let alone such a large movement.
The mermaids patrolling around the platform were caught off guard, and almost half of them were swept several meters away, while the rest tumbled to their feet.
When the mermaids turned around with shocked expressions, what they saw was the dragon they had brought back from space. After being submerged in seawater for half a year, its surface layer of stone had been gradually washed away, revealing its silver body, and it opened its eyes.
Those were enormous, golden, vertical pupils, as big as two houses. The calm and indifferent look in those eyes as they watched the fish made the mermaids feel their own insignificance.
It's as if they're no different from a tiny insect.
"God, Divine Dragon Ancestor... Ancestor... has... awakened!"
A mermaid stared in shock into the silver dragon's eyes and stammered.
Not a single mermaid dared to move; they remained cautiously in place, praying not to be noticed.
Heaven knows what kind of temper the dragon has.
The overwhelming pressure, unlike anything seen when facing sea beasts, was like a pestle crushing an ant, instilling fear in the merfolk as if they might be killed at any moment.
As soon as Long Xun moved slightly, he heard a crisp rustling sound. He silently lowered his head and found that his four claws, tail, neck and body were covered with countless chains.
No wonder the dragon in the original story went berserk when it was tied up like that.
As Long Xun pondered silently, a tremor ran through his body, and the immense power emanating from the dragon's body instantly snapped all the chains.
The surrounding mermaid guards shuddered again. These chains could even restrain enormous creatures like deep-sea behemoths, but the dragon shattered them all with a mere tremor!
As expected of their ancestor, so majestic and imposing!
An excessively large body would also be inconvenient. After breaking free of the chains, Long Xun slowly shrunk his body until he was about ten feet in size before he paddled through the water and swam out of the high platform.
Seeing that the dragon was about to leave, the guarding mermaids had no choice but to keep him there, otherwise who knew what kind of trouble the dragon would cause if he went out!
These mermaids, who had studied the dragon and knew its incredible power, naturally dared not disrespect their ancestors. But what about the others?
We have to support our ancestors!
Long Xun looked at the trembling mermaid blocking his way; her cold gaze clearly put a lot of pressure on him.
The mermaid swallowed hard and said dryly, "God, Dragon Ancestor... could you... could you please stay a little while...?"
