It was noisy and bustling, like a market.
While ministers may be honest, loyal, and devoted to the country, they are also human beings with their own selfish desires. There is no conflict between serving the country and having selfish desires; they always want to make their own and their families' interests bigger and bigger.
Some tried to use the emperor to suppress the ninth prince, while others relied on their seniority to demonstrate their experience and subtly implied that the court would collapse without them.
Unfortunately, they didn't know that their thoughts and talents were once clearly seen by the Ninth Prince, and now, in Long Xun's eyes, who could see through cause and effect, past and future, even their past and future deeds were clearly visible.
After everyone unanimously accused Long Xun, and Long Xun ignored them, the ministers, thinking they had won the battle, began to argue amongst themselves, subtly hinting at how to divide the spoils... Suddenly, a silver spear was thrown from above, flashing through the crowd and pinning an old minister with a stern and rigid face, who had been arguing with the other ministers, to the ground.
When the blood splattered, everyone was still in shock, staring blankly at the three suddenly dead apprentices, almost thinking they were dreaming.
The young emperor, who had been ignored by his ministers, rose from the throne, raised his hand, and with a hum, the silver spear shook off Situ's corpse and flew back into his hand from mid-air.
The casual words, tinged with sarcasm, slowly rang out: "The Third Minister was truly loyal to the Second Prince... The Emperor has passed away, and the Minister followed him in death, which is... touching."
The silver spear flashed like lightning; the Minister of Personnel had no time to react and died. The Grand Secretary died. The General of Dingyuan, who commanded the Imperial Guards, died.
The ministers, finally realizing what was happening, turned pale and screamed in fear, creating chaos. Some even fainted from fright.
After the one who screamed the loudest was unfortunately stabbed to death, the ministers' screams stopped abruptly, and they all stared at the god of death with pale faces.
Even if he turns evil, Long Xun won't become too evil.
Even though his temperament had changed drastically, every person he killed was still deserving of beheading.
The emperor held their evidence in his hands, remaining unmoved, simply because he feared that their deaths would cause chaos in the court.
Long Xun didn't care. He only knew that these people were a menace, and even if they did nothing, they had already harmed many people... That was enough for him to kill them.
The unbearable pain in his heart finally lessened somewhat. When the young emperor on the high throne looked over with his dark golden vertical pupils, he revealed a cruel and ruthless pleasure.
It was as if he had been waiting for this moment, for the ministers to start arguing, giving him a reason to kill.
However... Long Xun still planned to use these people to find Yin Chen and Bei Chen; he didn't intend to let them completely lose heart.
Dragon horns and a dragon tail appeared, and the silver-haired emperor casually flicked his sleeves and pointed to the several corpses on the ground.
The translucent ghost appeared before everyone with a blank expression.
Without saying a word, Long Xun lightly pointed his finger, and the ghosts knelt down uncontrollably, each beginning to recount their actions with a blank expression.
Good and evil are clearly evident.
Those favored by Heaven are blessed by the heavens and must possess extraordinary abilities. However, the timing of their awakening varies, as do their abilities, and they are not necessarily all powerful and terrifying.
The Ninth Prince was favored by Heaven, but before he awakened, no one had any respect for him.
And now...
Just moments ago, he had slaughtered people like dogs in the crowd, and now even the souls of the dead were being held captive and judged by him. The ministers felt a chill run down their spines, as if they had fallen into an ice cave.
Whether what these ghosts said was true or false, the other officials knew more or less about it, perhaps without evidence, perhaps it was just a handle to use against them, or perhaps it was just a guess.
But ultimately, it's all things that can be found out; they know it all too well.
The ghosts' candid confession implicated many of the surviving ministers as well. These ministers turned pale, immediately knelt down, and trembled as they begged for mercy: "Your Majesty, spare our lives!"
No one cared whether Long Xun's methods of rising to power were brutal and bloody.
Human subjects may be willing to die to preserve their reputation or gain benefits, but what if they discover that even in death they will be caught and everything will be exposed?
That bit of backbone and courage vanished as easily as morning dew under the sun.
