A day isn't a long time; it probably wouldn't even be enough to see all the major cities, but it was enough for Shunacha.
He was holding a packet of sunflower seeds and peanuts in his arms, and a layered pancake in his right hand, which he was enjoying immensely.
If you ask him what he's most satisfied with after transforming into human form, it's that he can eat anything now, unlike when he was a child, when he could only eat some vegetable leaves to improve his diet, in addition to dried fruit.
Shunacha planned to eat as he walked into the wilderness. Once he finished eating, he estimated that he would reach a remote, uninhabited mountain area, where he could then dig a hole to return underground.
Relaxation is fine, but don't forget the important things.
The boy, who looked about twelve or thirteen years old, had a round face and round eyes. He was just a little chubby, with smooth and translucent skin. This roundness didn't make him look greasy; instead, it gave him an adorable appearance.
After finishing his biscuit, Shunacha cracked some melon seeds and walked quickly, stepping over thorny branches, muddy puddles, and other obstacles.
Suddenly, Shunacha noticed something and turned to look in one direction. The grass and trees could not block his view.
A hundred meters away, a young girl held a wooden stick, forcing herself to remain calm as she faced the pack of wolves, her eyes constantly searching for a way to escape.
The girl had delicate eyebrows and fair skin, pure and gentle, and was as noble as a princess. Even though her clothes were torn and she had bloodstains and wounds from being chased by wolves, it did not diminish her dignity.
Shunacha's small nose twitched slightly as she sniffed the air, then she scratched her head in slight distress: "To be honest, I don't really want to get involved in this kind of thing. Humans are always ready to kill me if they see me... But I'm a magnanimous mouse, and... this lady smells so good. As long as no one finds out it was me..."
Shunacha had already grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds and thrown them at the wolves.
The wolves were stunned as they were hit on the head by the sunflower seeds that suddenly flew at them. The seeds, scattered in front of them, inexplicably emitted an aura that made them tremble with fear.
The alpha wolf had developed some intelligence, and a vague premonition made it lower its head and sniff a sunflower seed in front of it.
The next moment, the alpha wolf retreated hastily, letting out whimpering howls. The pack of wolves was thrown into chaos, glancing at the girl with fear and uncertainty before fleeing in panic with the alpha wolf.
The girl was completely bewildered, but when she saw the sunflower seeds that had terrified the wolves, she had a sudden inspiration and picked one up and put it in her pocket.
The Central Plains are too dangerous; she needs to go home right away!
Shu Nai observed the girl's movements and nodded in satisfaction: "Hmm! This older sister is really smart!"
Those melon seeds had been in his arms and possessed dragon energy, though faint, it was enough to intimidate wild beasts and small demons.
—Just now, when he made his move, why did I sense a faint aura? It was both unfamiliar and somewhat familiar, but I couldn't remember who it was…
Shunacha frowned, torn between his burgeoning curiosity and the responsibility of starting work soon.
Hmm, it wouldn't hurt to go take a look, would it? Anyway, there's still some time before the sun rises again.
Thinking this, Shunacha turned in a different direction and followed the aura he had just sensed.
This road also leads into the mountains, but it is even more remote and secluded than the one that Shunacha took.
Shunacha has a keen sense of smell. The strange yet somewhat familiar scent he had just caught gradually grew stronger along the road, indicating that he was getting very close to that person.
'He stopped?'
Shunacha was a little confused. Holding the melon seeds, he trotted forward a couple of steps with his chubby little legs, and looked ahead after passing a clump of bushes.
On the path stood a child. His thin body wore only a very worn-out garment that didn't fit him properly, patched upon patched, and faded from washing. He was very handsome, but his eyes were cold and fierce, as if he had lost all humanity.
But his figure, standing there with his back straight, seemed inexplicably lonely.
The child looks to be only eight years old.
Realizing her follower had been noticed, Shu Naicha let out a soft "uh," looking a little embarrassed, and walked away, explaining as she went, "I'm sorry, I've been following you. But I meant no harm. My name is Shu Naicha, Shu as in comfort, Nai as in helplessness, and Cha as in filling gaps. I thought we had already met..."
Shunacha stood in front of him, looking down slightly at the child who was half a head shorter than him, and gestured with his hand to indicate his height: "However... it seems I should have been mistaken."
The child merely glanced at him indifferently, then turned and silently continued walking along the path.
Shunacha instinctively followed and asked, "Wait for me. I wanted to ask, why are you here alone? Where are your family? There are many wild animals in the mountains. I just saw a woman being attacked by a pack of wolves. Aren't you afraid in the mountains? It's getting late. Listen to me, don't go up the mountain anymore."
The child ignored him and, in front of a gentle slope, gripped a tree branch with both hands and began to climb. Shunacha tried to reach out and help him up, but just as he was about to be touched, the child suddenly turned around, his eyes revealing a fierce murderous intent.
Shunacha was slightly taken aback by his murderous gaze. By the time she came to her senses, the child had already climbed up the gentle slope and walked away.
"Hey! Little brother, I'm serious, I'm not kidding you!" Shunacha quickly followed.
The child seemed to be isolated from the world, ignoring everything Shunacha said and heading deeper into the mountains on his own.
He seemed very familiar with the mountain area. Often, he could tell where there were rocks blocking the way or where there were flowers and plants without even looking. He would even climb trees and pick some fruit along the way.
