Chapter 32 Reborn as a Dragon in the Zombie World (Part 3)

After a few experiments, Long Xun and Xila mastered the new way of flying, and soon maintained a distance of ten meters above the ground. At this distance, neither Long Xun's Jianwang 3 minimap nor Xila's ultrasonic detection was afraid of missing any humans passing by.

Unfortunately, all that could be found were scattered, aimless zombies on the ground, with no sign of life. There were also piles of zombies whose heads had been pierced and who were completely dead.

When the zombies heard the whooshing sound of them flying through the sky, they slowly raised their heads, but by then Long Xun and Xila had already flown by for a while, so the zombies continued to wander aimlessly in the empty sky.

This world is dying.

To die very slowly.

Even if it doesn't collapse, if humanity cannot defeat the J virus, then everything in this world, whether living or plant, will slowly die and eventually become lifeless, just like every lifeless planet in the universe.

At that time, even if this small world successfully evolved, it would only be a rock the size of a planet.

Perhaps it was because the people living in the wild were too scattered, so it was difficult to escape once they encountered zombies; or perhaps this road was too close to the base, so everyone was infected; or perhaps everyone had already fled with the crowd and they did not find a single living human.

It wasn't until Long Xunxi flew into the city that they discovered that although the zombies on the ground were still moving unconsciously, they were unconsciously and slowly approaching a certain area. If they were walking on the ground, they certainly wouldn't have noticed this.

Long Xun and Xila flew a little higher, and sure enough, the zombies approached the center of the circle in a roughly circular pattern. However, they didn't move with the kind of eagerness one would show when they discover living people or any movement. These zombies were getting closer, but they seemed more hesitant.

This seems a little odd?

Long Xun opened the minimap for JX3, but the center point was too far away to be displayed on the map. His minimap was best suited for detecting gathering items, teammates, and enemies; in other aspects, it couldn't compare to Xila's detection capabilities.

"Sila, can you see what's going on over there?"

“I need to get closer, Dr. Dragon.”

Long Xun nodded slightly, looked around, and said, "Go to the roof over there."

Those houses are the old-style buildings found in every newly developed city. They aren't tall, with red brick walls and wooden-framed windows, stubbornly occupying a small space amidst a sea of concrete skyscrapers—commonly known as "nail houses." Residing there for various historical reasons, they seem out of place in the glittering city.

However, at this moment when all the buildings are dilapidated, the dusty skyscrapers are no more beautiful than the dusty little houses.

Long Xun and Xila landed on the rooftop. At this height and distance, she could easily find out what was happening at the center. After standing there, Xila stared in the direction of the center and began to probe.

Yin Chen jumped off Long Xun on his own initiative. Although the boy did not understand things, he was smart enough to keenly sense that Long Xun did not like others to be too close to him.

As before, Yin Chen grabbed Long Xun's white clothes and obediently squatted down, carefully sticking his head out from the edge of the rooftop to look at the ground. His eyes sparkled with curiosity, making his dark eyes seem to twinkle with faint stars.

Even in this apocalyptic landscape devoid of beauty, it was a completely different experience for this boy who grew up in a laboratory, surrounded by cold, impersonal equipment and researchers, and whose mind was filled only with fragmented memories he neither knew nor understood.

Long Xun looked down at him, gently rubbed his head, and then withdrew his hand. Yin Chen turned back, tilted his head, and looked at the hand hanging in front of him. The hand was beautiful, fair and translucent, with long, slender fingers, distinct knuckles, and each nail was round and full, as if carved from jade.

Yin Chen carefully picked it up, palm down, and slowly placed it on his head. Then he put his hands back on the ground, shook his head slightly, felt the warmth and weight on his head, and his face showed that silly smile again.

Long Xun watched his movements the entire time, without uttering a sound or moving, and without withdrawing his hand after Yin Chen finished. His lowered eyes and quiet observation, even though his face was expressionless, gave the impression of...something very gentle.

Milk Tea Mouse looked at Long Xun and then at Yin Chen with great confusion. Why did it feel like... its status as its master's beloved pet had been challenged?

"Detection complete. Dr. Long, one male evolved being and one ordinary male human have been detected. Should we provide assistance?"

Long Xun thought for a moment: "Where are the ordinary person and the evolved person respectively?"

"The male evolved human is in the very center of the circle, while the ordinary male human is in the basement of the office building at the four o'clock position, centered on the evolved human. Both are currently unconscious." Hilla paused, then added, "I suggest Dr. Long first rescue the ordinary male human, who is surrounded by seventeen zombies in the basement and will be attacked by them in three minutes."

Long Xun's vertical pupils contracted slightly. After thinking for a moment, he suddenly looked down at Yin Chen: "A-Chen, I'm going to give you a task. Go to that spot, find the person lying on the ground, guard him, and wait for me to come over. Understand?"

Yin Chen looked at him in confusion. Long Xun patiently repeated the words three times before Yin Chen finally realized what was happening and disappeared from the rooftop in a flash.
