Chapter 27 The Unlucky First Wife (Twenty-Seven)

Interrogation Room

A few blond-haired youths were illuminated by a lamp. All they could see were old men in military uniforms with serious faces, whose bare shoulders were so intimidating that they made one's heart tremble.

They were either dressed in Zhongshan suits, exuding an air of grandeur, or important figures who occasionally appeared on the news channel.

"Brother Huang, what's going on here..." The underling looked at the scene and couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Brother Huang: What could he possibly know?

He's used to doing this kind of thing, so he's not afraid of being caught. He didn't kill anyone, so he'll only be in jail for a few years at most.

Besides, he's someone who does favors for others; the employer can easily pull some strings later, and he'll be out of there soon.

But today's situation is clearly different from before, and Brother Huang's heart is pounding. Wasn't he supposed to be an orphan?

It's like they've kicked a hot iron plate!

"Which faction do you belong to?" asked a bespectacled man in a Zhongshan suit in the center. "Why are you attacking Dr. Bai? Are you from the US or South Korea? Which foreign organization are you acting on orders from?"

The blond-haired men's eyes widened: What is all this about?

"I...we're just ordinary thugs, no, no, just ordinary young people. We're not an organization!"

Even if they are an organization, they are at most a rogue organization.

"These people are good at disguising themselves; the fact that they can still act like this even now means they're either top-tier agents. These kinds of people are incredibly stubborn, and you won't get anything out of them by questioning them like this. We should call in interrogation experts; they're very skilled. They've even managed to pry open the mouths of top agents before."

"good."

What kind of interrogation expert?

What's so good about it!

"We're just ordinary little hooligans!"

Several blond-haired men were dragged into the interrogation room. The interrogation experts had dealt with even the most vicious criminals, let alone these guys.

After a series of actions, in less than half an hour, the blond-haired men were covered in sweat and had revealed all their secrets.

"We really are just doing our jobs for money!" Brother Huang stared at the gun barrel in fear, his face covered in tears. "It really is like that. The employer asked us to take pictures of her. Yes, her phone, her phone. I have conversations with the employer on my phone!"

The interrogators exchanged glances. Seeing that several good-for-nothings were so scared they wet their pants, they had no choice but to believe that these were indeed a few thugs.

"Go check the phone and call the network communications department over."

"good."

...

The next morning, Yan Qi arrived at the bridal suite that belonged to him and Bai Yan by the river.

As he reached the door, he couldn't help but frown slightly. Was this the right thing to do?

They can only save one; he has already chosen Si Nian.

Even if he's wrong, he can't turn back.

Yan Qi pushed open the door, but the living room was empty, unlike the chaotic scene he had imagined. Thinking this, Yan Qi went upstairs to the second floor, but there was no one in the bedroom either.

How could that be?

Yan Qi went up to the attic again, but it was still empty.

Sensing something was wrong, he took out his phone to contact the person he had arranged beforehand, but the message went unanswered.

A sense of foreboding rose in his heart, and he quickly dialed Bai Yan's number again, which she answered.

"Hello, Yan Qi." Her voice came through the microphone.

"Are you... are you alright?" Yan Qi heard his own voice tremble slightly. "Where are you?"

"I'm fine," Bai Yan said. "I'm in a very safe place. As for where exactly, you can come over there yourself."

A strange feeling rose in Yan Qi's heart, and Bai Yan continued, "Did you hear the car outside?"

"They're coming for you. Remember, don't struggle. Fugitives get shot."

"What are you talking about?" Yan Qi's heart sank even further: "Bai Yan, don't play riddles with me."

"Be careful when you come down from the attic, it's narrow and you might slip and fall." After saying this, Bai Yan hung up the phone.

"Shit!" Today's unexpected events and Bai Yan's inexplicable behavior made Yan Qi unable to help but swear.

His mind was a complete mess. He followed his instincts and went down from the attic, but Bai Yan's words flashed through his mind: "The attic is narrow, be careful not to fall."

But the more he thought about it, the more surprised he became to find that he couldn't see anything at all along the small staircase in the attic.

Just then, the door was broken open from the outside. Yan Qi was startled, lost his footing, and tumbled down from the attic.

Yan Qi, a grown man, couldn't help but scream out in pain, as his cervical spine seemed to have struck some kind of hard object.

However, before he could recover from the excruciating pain, a dark gun barrel was already pointed at him.

...

"Who are you people? Where are you taking me?" The excruciating pain made it impossible for Yan Qi to stand up, and it took two people to carry him to the interrogation room.

"Tell me, what are you planning to do to Bai Yan?" The interrogation room was pitch black, except for a lamp hanging beside the man sitting in front of Yan Qi. This was a common psychological pressure tactic used during interrogations, and he knew it, of course.

"Did Bai Yan send you?" Yan Qi was covered in sweat from the pain. "Who are you people?"

"Yan Qi, you only need to answer my questions," the man said coldly.

"I am a member of the Yan family!" A cold glint flashed across Yan Qi's eyes: "Who is your leader?" Could the person who is at odds with the Yan family be the newly appointed mayor's secretary? "I want to see my lawyer, I want to see the mayor. You have no right to interrogate me!"

As soon as Yan Qi finished speaking, a sneer came from the stage: "Quite a powerful backer."
