Side Story: Eastern Flame Continent (Part Two)

His blood was flowing backward, and he could barely hear what Daojun and the female cultivator were saying. He only saw the two disappear from his sight after a flash of silver light in Daojun's hand.

His blood kept flowing out of his body, and he felt colder and colder.

Suddenly, countless birds in the forest were startled and took flight, followed by a large flock of black blood crows rushing towards him.

He recognized these blood crows; children in the village had been eaten by them before. He thought he would starve to death, but he never expected to be eaten instead.

He eats birds, and the birds eat him; it seems quite normal.

He thought.

The crows swarmed towards him, instantly enveloping him.

"Junior sister, create a barrier!" Daojun shouted.

A transparent, spherical dome, visible to the naked eye, enveloped them, only to be pierced by the Blood Raven's sharp claws in an instant.

"Junior sister, concentrate. You need to concentrate so that the barrier can last longer." Daojun's voice seemed to contain some dissatisfaction, but more so, it was one of disappointment and frustration.

"Senior brother, those blood crows look so terrifying, I'm scared..." The female cultivator clutched her chest: "Senior brother, listen, my heart is beating really fast right now."

"I didn't even dare to look at that blood crow, my heart would jump out of my chest if I did."

Looking into her innocent and pure eyes, Daojun could only say helplessly, "Junior Sister, don't try to be clever. If you can't even learn the most basic barrier techniques, how will you protect yourself, let alone subdue demons?"

The female cultivator chuckled sweetly, "I have a senior brother, and he will always protect me anyway."

The two locked eyes, their eyes conveying unspoken emotions, completely forgetting the blood-soaked figure still hanging upside down in mid-air.

A beam of white light struck, and the flock of crows scattered with a roar.

The man, who thought he was going to die, opened his eyes and looked at the flock of crows falling around him. He thought he would fall like the crows.

However, a gentle breeze caressed him, lifting him up and slowly lowering him to the ground.

He looked around in surprise, only to see the surrounding woods seem to recede rapidly, and a beautiful fairy dressed in cloud-like clothes landed under the tree.

"Senior Sister! What brings you here?" the first female cultivator spoke up, then added with displeasure, "Senior Sister, these blood crows were brought here by my senior brother and me to help me pass the sect's assessment. What are you trying to do now?"

Was it intentional vandalism?

Fairy Yunxia merely glanced at her: "You good-for-nothing who can't even pass the sect's assessment, shut your mouth."

After killing all the Blood Ravens, she immediately used her Qiankun Bag to collect them all.

"Do you insist on going against Junior Sister Miaoyin?" the Daoist Lord said. "This Blood Raven was prepared by her for the assessment. Aren't you stealing her credit? If you don't repent, I will definitely tell Master!"

"Stealing credit?" Fairy Yunxia's voice was cold: "Helian Sheng, I haven't even settled the score with you and Ji Miaoyin for using mortals to lure and capture demons. Where do you get the audacity to say that I'm stealing credit?"

The female cultivator named Ji Miaoyin said, "Why did you start cursing without even knowing the facts, Senior Sister?"

“This mortal committed the sin of killing first. Do you see how lovely that bird is? He killed that bird first! Now I am using him as bait, which is just a small punishment to warn others.”

"On the contrary, why do you always find fault with me, Senior Sister?"

Ji Miaoyin's words carried a hint of grievance: "You bullied me like this back in the Cloud Heaven Realm, and now that we're outside the sect, are you still going to bully me? It's because of you that I failed the sect assessment, and my senior brother had no choice but to take me away from the sect, but you're here to sabotage it?"

"What will it take for you to let me go?"

Helian Sheng's cold eyes also showed some dissatisfaction: "You have gone too far this time. Hand over Blood Raven and apologize to Miaoyin, otherwise our marriage is off. I will also report your persecution of your fellow disciples to the sect today."

"Ha!" As if he had heard something ridiculous: "No apology? I do have a record here of how you used mortals to lure and capture blood crows. Do you want it?"

"You! How could you be so vicious!" Ji Miaoyin's eyes were filled with tears.

Helian Sheng frowned and was about to open his mouth, but she was too lazy to listen to the two of them acting out a play: "Get out, or I'll take action."

She was a standout of her generation and also his fiancée; Helian Sheng didn't want to compete with her.

Fearing that she might actually give the recording stone to the sect, and wanting to return to the sect as soon as possible to resolve the matter, Helian Sheng quickly flew away with the still somewhat unwilling Ji Miaoyin.

He, who had been silently listening to their conversation, suddenly felt a surge of anger, anger because of that fairy.

He felt a fresh scent reach his nose and was about to get up.

"Don't move." Her voice remained indifferent.

"Tsk, it's a shame he's called the Radiant Daoist, yet he uses magical artifacts to harm mortals." Her tone was filled with dissatisfaction, and then she placed her hand on his wound.

The bleeding wound quickly subsided, and soon a round, bead-like object was stuffed into his mouth. The chill caused by excessive blood loss quickly disappeared.

He paused for a moment, then got up from the ground and was about to kowtow to her. But she reached out and pressed her hand against his forehead: "You don't need to kowtow. Although I don't want to admit it, they are my fellow disciples, and you were harmed by them."

He looked up and secretly glanced at the fairy, thinking that she was more beautiful than anyone he had ever seen.

He quickly lowered his head again; he was ugly and afraid of frightening the fairy.

"Take this, you can exchange it for some money."

She took off the earrings, and he looked at her outstretched hand, somewhat startled.

"Here, this is for you." She opened his palm and placed the earring inside.

"Are you from that village over there?" she asked.
