He Nian was allowed to go to the fields by the two little ones after recuperating for half a month. Fortunately, all the work in the fields was taken care of by Mingyue's guards.
Just then, the village chief came over and said that the house had been repaired. He Nian specially went to town to buy five catties of pork ribs, three catties of beef, and three catties of shrimp to cook some hearty dishes.
"Today is a good day. My injury has healed, and Mingyue's house has been repaired. Our lives will only get better and better from now on."
He Nian poured Mingyue a glass of wine, then filled his own glass, saying, "It's all in the wine."
The wine was mellow and fragrant, without any harshness or burning sensation on the tongue. He Nian poured herself another glass. "Caisheng, Ruyi, my eldest sister is planning to rent out the land to someone else and sell breakfast in town. Do you agree?"
He Caisheng: "Of course I agree, we support whatever our eldest sister does!"
He Ruyi nodded obediently, "I also support my eldest sister."
"Alright, once I start earning money, I'll enroll in a private school, and Ruyi will become an apprentice to learn medicine."
As night fell, only a few candles illuminated the house. The bright moon, like an outsider, watched as He Nian's cheeks flushed slightly, whether from drinking or excitement.
There were scabs on her face, but there were obvious signs of being scratched, revealing newly grown pink skin, and her almond-shaped eyes sparkled with longing for the future.
Mingyue picked up her wine glass, her curled eyelashes drooping, and silently began to eat the food on the table.
The other three immediately realized that Mingyue had a big appetite, so they stopped nagging and joined the team grabbing food.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, the two little ones took their bowls and chopsticks to wash the dishes, while He Nian took out her written proposal and showed it to Mingyue, asking, "Do you think my idea is okay?"
Her plan was to start by setting up a stall, open a storefront within a year, and take over a restaurant within three years. With the culinary expertise she possessed, any one of her dishes could serve as the restaurant's signature dish, and then she could open branches all over the country.
But that's idealistic. She worries that there might be some taboos surrounding women opening shops in this world, but luckily there are people around who she can ask.
"Yes, the laws of the Moon Kingdom do not prohibit women from opening shops. However, you will have to face the question of whether you can take over the shop after you save up money. Some people think that it is bad luck for women to show their faces in public."
While flipping through He Nian's proposal, Mingyue said, "You'd better be more assertive when you're setting up a stall. You look too weak, so you're bound to get bullied."
He Nian looked down at her small frame and realized that she was indeed a bit weak. The original owner of this body had a rather docile appearance, so even with a stern face, she didn't have any intimidating presence.
"Mingyue, may I practice martial arts with your guards?"
“Okay.” Mingyue finished reading the proposal and handed it back to He Nian. “No problem, the idea is very novel.”
He Nian smiled shyly, "Thank you."
"I'm going back now. You can find Xiaolin anytime you want to practice martial arts."
It was getting late, and He Nian prepared a lantern for Mingyue. "Take this. The road is slippery, so walk slowly."
"Um."
Mingyue took it, the candlelight of the lantern flickered, and Mingyue's figure gradually disappeared into the darkness. He Nian stood at the door for a while before turning around and locking the door.
"You two should go back to your rooms and rest."
He Nian gently rubbed the two little ones' fluffy heads; they felt so good that she couldn't bear to let go.
He Caisheng and He Ruyi took a step back together. "Sister, we're going to rest. You should rest early too."
Seeing the two little ones quickly return to their respective little houses, He Nian stretched and looked at the big, round moon hanging in the night sky. Today seems to be the Mid-Autumn Festival, right?
He Nian smiled warmly. She never expected to feel the completeness of family life, which she couldn't experience in modern times, but she felt it here.
