Chapter 247 Doomsday Crisis (25)

The two groups of people in the meeting room were arguing heatedly, neither willing to concede to the other's point of view.

Old Master An slammed his fist on the table a few times in anger, “Enough!”

The meeting room fell silent.

Although Old Man An was old, he was a former soldier, and his imposing aura was not something that ordinary people could withstand. Old Man An looked at Mingyue, who was not involved, in a deep voice and said, "Mingyue, you tell me."

"Who is she? What gives her the right to speak?"

Mingyue seemed not to hear those words, her eyes lowered as she listlessly played with her slender fingers.

"Old An, she's the one who developed the antidote. Don't you think she's qualified?"

The man shut his mouth sheepishly, but the suspicion in his eyes did not disappear.

The meeting room fell silent again. Old An sighed and stated his opinion, "The drug must be administered. Don't you know about the capabilities of the Level 3 zombies that caused the second zombie outbreak a month ago? Dealing with them as soon as possible is the only way to be responsible to humanity!"

"Mingyue, do you think this potion should be administered? After all, it was your research that led to its development."

Everyone's gaze fell on Mingyue, who propped her head up with one hand, leaning back in her chair as if she had no bones, a smile playing on her lips. "You all just want the zombies to disappear, but you don't want the superpowers to disappear, do you?"

"It is not harmful for humans to have superpowers, and our idea is perfectly reasonable."

Mingyue looked at the person who spoke and nodded with interest, "That's right."

The man, beaming with satisfaction at being recognized, raised his chin. "So, we demand improvements to the potion. Wouldn't that be perfect?"

"I haven't finished speaking yet, why are you in such a hurry?" Mingyue tapped the table, her peach blossom eyes curving slightly. "I discovered something interesting half a year ago, and I've come today to invite you all to take a look."

As soon as Mingyue finished speaking, the conference room door opened, and three people with superpowers walked in, followed by Elder Yan and others.

Professor Yan personally placed the research materials in front of the leaders before standing behind Mingyue.

The document was only a few thin pages long, but after reading it, someone was shocked. "How is this possible? The ability of superhumans is because zombies have evolved to half their original form?"

"It's utterly absurd! Superhumans develop their abilities after experiencing high fevers or extreme cold. These are things humans evolved to fight zombies, and you're saying they're zombies too!"

"Zombies have no thoughts and no humanity, but superhumans are not like that."

Mingyue raised her hand to lower her voice, "Didn't you guys think about how the first zombie appeared? Did they experience high fever or extreme cold?"

"The infection routes we are familiar with are scratching, biting, and zombie blood, but what about before zombies appeared? Why weren't plants and animals infected?"

No one answered Mingyue's question. Some people continued to look down at their documents, while others whispered among themselves, discussing the veracity of the matter.

Mingyue glanced at everyone present, a smile playing on her crimson lips. "I'd like to invite you all to witness this today."

With a wave of his hand, the others had the three superhumans sit in the middle chairs, and someone injected them with a drug.

The whole process took less than three minutes. Everyone watched quietly as the three people turned red all over, as if they had a high fever.

A quarter of an hour later, one of them vomited a mouthful of black blood, followed by the other two. Old Master Yan ordered his men to carry them away.

"Look, there are worms in this black blood!"

Following the sound, everyone looked and saw that the three pools of black blood were wriggling with tiny, indistinct worms, which were extremely disgusting and emitted a foul odor.
