Chapter 254 Farming and Business (4)

"It's just a carriage, burn it."

Mingyue gave her instructions calmly.

Guard Lin nodded in agreement, took out a tinderbox and lit the carriage. The people inside quickly climbed out.

The luxurious carriage was instantly reduced to a mere frame, leaving everyone speechless. Such a fine carriage could be burned so easily; they wished they had dared to go inside and experience it for themselves.

The village chief's face was so black it could drip ink. He slammed his stick down on the two men who were sprawled on the ground, yelling, "Apologize to Miss Mingyue and make her pay compensation!"

Judging from Mingyue's calm and collected demeanor as she set the car on fire without any regard for the lives of the people inside, he knew that these two were in deep trouble.

This is just a minor punishment; we'll have to wait for Mingyue to investigate further... The village chief then gave the two of them another heavy blow with his stick.

"She wanted to burn it herself, what does it have to do with us? You old fool, don't go too far!"

They were startled just now, but that doesn't mean they were truly afraid.

He Qiang straightened up, ignoring the dust on his body, put his hands in his sleeves, and curled his lips in disdain.

The other one, He Gouwa, wasn't very bright. He always hung out with He Qiang, doing whatever He Qiang did and saying whatever He Qiang said. "What does this have to do with us, you old man!"

"You, you all—"

The village chief stared at the two of them with a look of disappointment and frustration.

Mingyue gently stopped the village chief. A smile played on her lips, but her clear black and white eyes were like a still pool of water. "It's alright. Since the luggage has been burned, I'll just go to He Nian's house."

The village chief became even more worried. He hesitated several times before speaking, but Mingyue's calm gaze forced him to stop. He nodded helplessly, "Alright, feel free to come to me if you need anything."

"Yes, village chief."

Mingyue left calmly with Guard Lin.

The crowd whispered among themselves, surprised that the rich were so easy to talk to, and there was no punishment or even a report to the authorities.

The village chief looked at He Qiang, who was surrounded and proudly showing off, with a hint of pity. "He Qiang, you'd better bring something to apologize, otherwise—"

"Alright, no one else is pursuing this, why are you so concerned?"

He Qiang didn't take it seriously, probably thinking that the rich young lady was just trying to keep quiet because she didn't dare to cause trouble, which made things convenient for him.

The village chief sighed, led his two grandsons, Dali and Dashan, back home, and closed the courtyard gate. "You two must not disturb the noble lady when you see Mingyue, understand?"

The two replied in unison, "Understood, Grandpa."

Guard Lin said indignantly, "Sir, you didn't see it. That scoundrel was so rude. He even stole your grapes, and..."

He wouldn't even stoop to uttering such vulgarities, fearing it would offend the master's ears. "Sir, why didn't you let me do it just now?"

Mingyue glanced lazily at Guard Lin, "Too many people."

"I can beat all of them!"

“No, that would easily lead to the villagers reporting it to the authorities, and getting them released would be a big problem.” Mingyue changed the subject. “However, tonight you find their house and burn it down for me.”

"yes!"

Guard Lin happily agreed, thinking that the master was indeed very considerate.

It took only fifteen minutes to get to He Nian's house. He Nian didn't expect Mingyue to return so quickly. Looking back, she didn't see the carriage and luggage. "Where are your luggage?"

"It's burned, but the other carriage that followed us will be here soon."

One vehicle was for riding, and the other was for storing personal belongings. There were also more guards assigned to it.

He Nian wisely didn't ask the reason and changed the subject, "This room is a bit small, but I've cleaned it very well. What do you think?"
