The bright moon spoke first, without desire or want.
Ji Yong'an did ask for something similar to a get-out-of-jail-free card. The Ji family has many talented people in the court, and he has once again made a name for himself, so there are probably many people who are envious.
The banquet was filled with flattery and sycophancy. Occasionally, someone would offer Mingyue a toast, to which Mingyue would respond listlessly.
Su Linglong, holding a wine cup, walked towards Mingyue, "Grand Preceptor."
"hold head high."
The fake female lead who approached her clearly had no good intentions.
Su Linglong was speechless. Why did they greet others with a smile but treat her with such coldness? "I have a collaboration I'd like to discuss with you."
"I refuse."
"I haven't even stated my conditions yet!"
Mingyue gave Su Linglong a dismissive look and uttered three words in a tone that was sure to infuriate someone: "I won't listen."
Su Linglong successfully crushed the glass in her hand, her slender palm cut by the shards. With a forced smile, she said, "You'll regret this."
Mingyue smiled and said, "I don't believe it."
Su Linglong turned and left. She wasn't the main character of the banquet, so no one cared about her departure.
As the banquet was nearing its end, Mingyue finished her food and sidled up to Ji Yong'an to try and get some more food.
Ji Yong'an was speechless, "My lord, is this really necessary?"
Look around, which minister is eating so heartily? I've never seen anyone eat as unrestrainedly as Your Excellency.
"Who told this banquet to be so stingy, with only one piece of meat on each plate?"
She wanted to try and get some food from Chen Yao, but unfortunately Chen Yao was too nervous today and kept eating to calm her nerves, so she didn't manage to get any.
Forget it, if we can't beat them, we'll join them.
Mingyue got impatient. "Are you serious? Trying to steal my food?"
"It tastes better when people fight over it."
"Okay, okay, so you're going to play it this way?"
Mingyue quickly picked up the plate and poured everything into her bowl, then ate heartily.
His aloof image was shattered.
Ji Yong'an hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping himself. When he looked up, he saw curious eyes all around him, as well as his father's eyes filled with confusion, shock, fear, anger... a complex mix of emotions.
Father, listen to his sophistry!
Things aren't as you think!
The emperor, sitting on his high throne, smiled and said, "General Ji and my Imperial Advisor have a very good relationship."
The Ji family members' hearts pounded like drumsticks. General Ji stepped forward, clasped his hands in a fist and said, "My son is drunk and has lost his manners. I will take him back now."
Ji Yong'an wisely fainted on the table, and casually stuffed a piece of pastry into his mouth.
Bright Moon: 666
As the banquet progressed into its latter half, the emperor, citing fatigue, withdrew first, followed by the other ministers who gradually left as well.
The eunuch beside the emperor found Mingyue, forcing a smile, and said in a hoarse voice, "Grand Preceptor, His Majesty requests your presence."
"hold head high."
Mingyue clapped her hands, preparing to follow the eunuch.
The eunuch flicked his whisk and pointed at Chen Yao behind Mingyue, "Let the master's beloved disciple come along too."
When Chen Yao met the Emperor alone, he became even more flustered and looked anxiously at Mingyue.
Let's go.
"yes."
Chen Yao followed behind nervously. The eunuch occasionally struck up a conversation with Mingyue, but the adults ignored him. The more the eunuch talked, the more excited Chen Yao became, which actually made Chen Yao relax.
Mingyue entered the study first, while Chen Yao and the eunuch waited outside.
Incense burned in the study. The emperor was dressed in bright yellow, with lifelike golden dragons embroidered on his body. A faint smile played in his eyes, but his expression remained aloof and arrogant.
"Imperial Advisor, you've arrived."
"What are your orders, Your Majesty?"
"Is this Chen Yao your apprentice? Isn't she too old?"
The emperor was worried. He wouldn't have said anything if it were a child, but this Chen Yao was clearly over sixteen years old. How could he inherit Mingyue's mantle?
